Connecting Threads has a brand spankin' new fabric line called Matsuri. It's be-au-t-iful cotton lawn fabric. If you aren't sure exactly what cotton lawn fabric is, thankfully wikipedia knows! I had to do a little research myself. This fabric is so, so nice and the colors are wonderful!
The top left print in the block above is my absolute favorite! I was very curious to how it would sew up, since it is such fine fabric, but it sews up beautifully. I'm sashing it with plain white quilting cotton, and I'm happy to report that mixing the fabric weights is working very well. It's another thing I was curious about.
I'm using this tutorial by Ashley at film in the fridge. I think it compliments the fabric quite nicely....clean lines and perfectly sized pieces to show off the pretty prints. It's handy that I didn't have to do the math, either. Thank you, Ashley! :)
I was going to make it a lap size, as that seems to be my default size when it comes to quilt making. But about a week ago I was sewing with a few friends in the church basement. As I was working on my blocks they asked what size I was going to make the quilt. Heather, who's motto in quilting is "go big or go home", suggested I keep going. So....I'm now making this a king size. You gotta be careful who you ask advice from! When I showed my husband the photo, he said he really liked it. Works out well, since it will eventually be on our bed!
This is what I've got so far. (Please excuse the weird lines from the church basement floor.) I'm not excited to add all that skinny sashing in between, but it's going to be totally worth it! Right???
Now, for the giveaway! Connecting Threads is kindly offering up 3 fat quarter stacks of this beautiful fabric line to three of my readers. If you would like to win a fat quarter bundle, please leave me a comment in this post. In your comment I'd like to hear what your default quilt size it. As stated earlier, I almost always make lap size quilts (60" x 72") if it's not for a specific purpose. I'm not sure why, it's just the way it is! I will pick the winners next Monday. The contest is open to US and Canadian residents only.
If you are curious about cotton lawn or if you would like a few tips about sewing with lawn fabric, Connecting Threads has a fact sheet that you can download here.
One more thing...my book is back in stock! Yay!
Happy Monday to you!

1 – 200 of 1009 Newer› Newest»Mixing fabric weights is very likely to come back and bite you when you quilt it. I am a longarmer and see this occasionally. The different materials yield a different thread tension.
I've only made two quilts so far -- twin and crib -- but the crib-sized comes together SO much faster, and they make such nice gifts that I think that's going to be my default from now on. :) Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
My default size is 60 x 80. I like that size the best. Thank you so much for hosting a giveaway! I love those fabrics!
I've made a lot of twin quilts this past year - about 65" x 90".
I make smaller stuff. One day, I'll have the attention span for something larger. Yours sure looks pretty!
I also tend to default to lap size. I never really noticed that trend until my husband pointed out that we currently have more quilts in the family room than people to use them. I think I may start switching to twin size, then I can rotate out my daughter's quilts.
Beautiful fabric! My quilts usually end up at lap quilts, or baby quilts as I call them :)
I too enjoy making generous lap size quilts. They are fun to piece and still fit in my sewing machine for quilting.
I've made mostly crib size as baby gifts! For our family I have made three twins and have two king sized in the works for our bed!
My default size is a laptop size for 2 reasons. First I am a fairly new quilter and I feel this is a good practice size. Second I often use the finished quilts on the back of the sofa for my boys to snuggle with as we watch TV
Seems like I am always needing to make another twin size quilt for a child's bed. It is a fun size to make. not too big, yet still useful.
Oh, this is such gorgeous fabric! Thanks for the giveaway.
I tend to make large lap quilts (60" X 60" seems to be a common size for me)...BUT, lately I have been stretching myself and making larger quilts that are more double bed size (82" X 82" or so). I just started wanting to see my quilts on a bed and I have a lot of 1/2 yard cuts of collections which can easily make a large bed quilt.

Wow, such beautiful fabric, thanks for the chance to win. I'm a lap quilt girl too!
My default is about 70 inch square. It makes quilting a chore, but it's a very useful size.
My go-to size seems to be 40" x 48", baby quilt size. There's a lot of babies around here :) Such cute fabric, and a great use of a great pattern! Love it!
Since my children are younger my default size is 54 by 60.
I typically make between twin and queen-sized, mostly because that's the size of beds we have. I also tend to make a lot of baby-quilts that are 3x4'.
Glad to know the cotton lawn is working well with the other fabrics!
I usually make my quilts large wallhanging size (40-60x40-60). Of course I've also made many bed-sized quilts and small wallhangings as well. Love the colors in the new CT line. I was drooling over them when I was looking through their recent brochure. I, too, was wondering how the cotton lawn felt. Thanks for the opportunity to win some FQs! :o)
Since my sewing machine harp is short, about 6 1/2, I always make crib size quilts. My goal is to one day quilt a king size quilt for my parents.
I also make lap size because I make quilts for kids. Almost every quilt I make is given away for charity quilting. I have to agree about the different weights of fabric when long arm quilting. I have such troubles because most of my fabric is donated and we sew together lots of different weights and types of fabrics and sometimes a quilt will really give me fits. I forget sometimes that it is because of all of the different types and weights of the fabrics. There are some fabrics out there that really don't play well together when quilting. But these sure are pretty.
Ohh how beautiful! If I don't have a specific reason to make a quilt, I usually make lap size or what ever the pattern calls for. I think those fabrics need a new home on my shelf!!!
My default is lap size, too. But I don't have a "default" size for that - usually over 60" but under, I dunno, 80"? Square sometimes, rectangle sometimes.
I don't think that I have made a enough "big" quilts to have a go to size. I tend to lean towards a larger lap size quilt though!
I am a new quilter and usually am learning technique so my go to size is usually lap size, anywhere around 45x 60 is what I aim for. And I love that fabric. Going to wiki to see what lawn fabric is.
I usually make a big double or queen size quilt. Kind of go big or go home!
I've only made quilts for specific purposes so far but I love making crib and lap size because they come together before I get tired of them.
Fantastic giveaway!
The fabric looks beautiful. Would love to try it out.
I've only made twin sized quilts, but I am hoping to make baby and lap size in the future...they come together faster I've heard. :)
I don't have a standard size. I just start and then stop when it's big or I run out of fabric. Not proud of it - it's why I sometimes don't have the size I need! Love that pattern and fabric.
Jan
I usually make twin or generous lap sized. Love the fabric
I've made some smaller baby quilts lately, but if it is for me, it has to be over 6'2 (74") long, so it won't be too short for hubby.
Most of my quilts are probably 40x60 or so - but I'm with whoever said that they go until they run out of fabric!
Usually lap size--I get bored after about 30 blocks. Terrible I know.
i usually make twin sized :)
I'm a sucker for kids quilts and so I am often making crib size quilts for all the new moms I know. :) I would love to make something with with these beautiful cotton lawn fabrics! So pretty!
So glad to hear that you like the lawn from CT - I've been wondering about quality and now I think I'm going to need to get some! I usually make lap-ish size quilts. But now that we switched up my kids' rooms I need to make a twin and a full in the near future!
I'm a default lap quilter too. But I think you made the right choice making it into a king!
Gift quilts are usually at least twin-sized, charity quilts are either lap or twin. Preemie quilts are a fun way to use up cute leftovers. Thanks for the chance - lovely fabrics!
Crib size--everyone I know is having babies! :)
I usually end up with something between lap size and twin size. I love that new fabric from connecting threads!
My favorite quilt size is a lap quilt also. BTW: love you fabric choices.
What beautiful fabrics, I would so love to win!
I'd say that my default quilt size is twin size..nice and long to keep your toes warm, very important!!!
my default size seems to be lap size too. I have several larger I have to make and it takes all my attention to keep going after it reaches lap size :)
Beautiful fabric! Thanks for the opportunity to win. Most of my quilts are lap sized, although a few queen sized ones have worked their way in occasionally.
Lee Ann
mheldmyer@bellsouth.net
I'm probably a default baby size quilt maker. But as my confidence is growing, so is the size of my quilts :)
I'm new to quilting so I've only made a few doll sized and one lap sized. I'd really like to make one for our new bed.
Thank you!
I usually make throw/lap quilts, about 55 x 70 or so. It's a nice size for the couch, I guess that's why I tend to make that size. But I like to make baby quilts too. That fabric is gorgeous!
I'm a twin, for sure. But then I use them for throws... Whatever that makes me :)
My favorite size to make is a small twin (about 60 x 80). Beautiful fabric (and quilt)!
stephydinger at yahoo dot com
I usually make lap-sized quilts, but I find that I like the bed-sized ones I make the best! : )
Melody
My go-to size is lap quilt as well. They are easier than the larger bed size, and just as lovely! Thanks for the chance!
I usually make baby-sized quilts, as gifts, but love to try larger projects. Hope to tackle a queen size one, eventually.
Baby blanket is my default quilt size!! The easiest to finish!
Beautiful !!! I am mostly a throw girl as well. I think that I am just a little intimidated with the really big ones so I tend to stay in the comfort zone :) !!!
I like BIG quilts, so i am always making queen or king. big enough for the whole family :)
Oh.. I love the fact that is light weight fabric. Very nice. My default size seems to be twin. But I want to make a king size for our bed very soon! I've been planning on paper. Let's hope I can get it off paper and into motion!
I am new to quilting and a bit timid about going bigger than I can manage, and tend top default to a 72 inch long by 44 inch wide quilt (good for snuggling in on the couch). I am nervous to piece a back, but am getting braver - just finished my first piece bigger than 44 wide ... it ended up being 53 inches wide :)
I'd love to win these beautiful fat quarters:)
I tend to go for twin quilts...I have six children. Next most common would be lap size for giving as gifts. I'd love to do a king size for our bed, but I haven't found the exact pattern and fabric I want yet.
thanks for the wiki link, I'm all read up now on lawn :) 40x45 boy, I'm sure adventuresome, aren't I. Thanks for the giveaway chance.
I love this quilt and the white sashing. Lawn is nice to handle. My favorite size is a smallish twin that can be used for a twin bed or lying down on the sofa.
Oh, my, these fabrics are just gorgeous! I would love the opportunity to win this giveaway! I've been making quite a few baby quilts in the past few years...seems like we had a lot of "additions" to the family lately!
Thanks so much for hosting!
Sweet blessings,
Laura
i typically make lap size as well, i wish i'd do even smaller sometimes and get through them faster but my lap sizes usually turn out bigger than i originally intend :)
I haven't been quilting too long, so I've made mostly baby and lap quilts. But this weekend I bought a sewing machine with a larger throat, so I think I'll be sizing up soon!
And hey, you're so talented that I bet you'll rock when you get to quilting the different weight fabrics! You'll make it work! It'll be fine! :):)
I like to make lap size But lately I have been going for twin size!
I like lap size also...not too big, not too small. I love connecting threads! Thanks for a chance to win.
I don't really haven a default size... They either keep growing or I just can't stop:)! Thanks for the giveaway
Deanna holster@yahoo.com
I don't really have a default, but I can say I've only ever made one quilt that's turned out square. Everything else has been rectangular. Thanks for the giveaway, I'd certainly like to try this kind of fabric.
I usually go for lap size or baby. Let me say how much I love your book. I have 6 projects earmarked.
Ooh - I LOVE your quilt! I think those fabrics are darling. I also feel like the quilt should be bigger to be 'useful' :)
I have made about 9 quilts so far and the most would be throw size. Each quilt I have made has become progressively larger though! Thanks for the giveaway.
I just ordered some of your favourite print. If I'm daring I'll make myself a shirt, otherwise a dress for one of my girls.
Hmm I usually end making lap quilts or baby quilts. I'm most often making for gifts so this seems to work =)
I don't really have a default size, but when I make kids quilts for charity, they are usually somewhere between 45" and 60" or so. If I use a pattern, I usually just make it exactly the size they tell me to!
Hm...is "keep going until you run out of fabric" a size? ;) Most of the quilts I've completed thus far have been jelly roll race quilts, but rather than use actual jelly rolls I just cut up fabric in the stash...so they end up as big as the fabric came out to, which tends to be somewhere between twin and lap size.
Love your new WIP! As usual, you inspire!
Since I just started back quilting just over a year ago, I have been making baby quilts (about 45 x 55). I find them really an enjoyable size to quilt, not overwhelming! And I always seem to find someone having a baby :)
This fabric is lovely in the new catalog - I like lap or smaller quilts to quilt on my home machine. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
I always seem to want to make twin size or close to it quilts. That or baby quilts! :) Thnx for the giveaway! Love the new king quilt.
pizzadelong@yahoo.com
Great colors and your quilt looks fun! I make 50"x60", but have made several larger quilts and send them out to be quilted. Thanks for holding the giveaway!
Twin or lap are my most popular size quilts...lovely fabric and great giveaway!
MGM
I normally follow a tutorial of some kind and so far they have all been lap sizes except for the quilt I'm making for my bed. Its huge!!
When I saw the picture of the fabrics on igoogle (where I view most of the blogs I follow.... I knew it was from Connecting Threads as I received their new catalog today.
These fabrics are gorgeous. I'm glad lawn is back...used to have some little girl dresses made from lawn.
Anyway, I would love to win a fat quarter pack of this fabric!
Thanks for doing this!
Karen
I just got their catalog and thought that fabric was so pretty.
Karen
P.S. to previous post...
Your quilt is going to be gorgeous!
Karen
ooh these are beautiful!!! Since I have made only two quilts, and they are both lap size, I'll go with lap size as my default.
I've just started, so crib size is all I've made. I'm gathering my supplies to make a couple twin quilts this summer for my girls. :)
Gorgeous! My default is 60" x 70", give or take an inch or two.
I would have to say that I make more throw or lap-size quilts also. However, I think I've made an awful lot of queen-sized ones too. Could be a toss-up. Love this fabric!
Queen and crib seem to be where I've been, but have three twin bed size coming up very soon. Great giveaway, thanks for the opportunity, karen
I usually make lap sized, though I have done a few kings. I love those fabrics!
Beautiful fabric! My default is lap size also. I'm a handpiecer and quilter and and while I have made bed size quilts, it seems to take forever. Lap size quilts are perfect for cold nights watching TV on the sofa and gift giving, too. Happy Sewing!
Most of my quilts are lap size, though at the moment I'm working on three toddler bed quilts and starting the planning for a queen size for our bed. Thanks for the beautiful giveaway!
I just got my Connecting Threads catalog today and was looking at that fabric...it is too yummy!!! My default quilt is lap-sized...about 60 x 60. Thank you for the opportunity.
Mmm, not sure that I have a default size, but I have to agree with Heather! Beautiful fabric, thanks for the chance :-)
I'm new to quilting, so my first quilt was a baby quilt, but I like the "Go Big or Go Home" idea. And since we have a king size bed, I already have several king-size projects in progress or planning stages.
I tend to twin/throw size. As i say this, I'm piecing a king for my sister. Go figure! I love Connecting Threads and am excited about the lawn! Thanks for the chance.
Leslie J.
Lately I have been making baby quilts for charity. I just recently discovered Connecting Threads. I ordered several charm packs and was pleased with the fabric. fmoore11589@comcast.net
I m glad that I am not the only one who still to a certain size quilt. Who quilting or charity, I usually make lap quilts that are about 45-50 inches square. I love square quilts,I think this pattern would be beautiful out of scraps. jessica.breidinger@yahoo.com
I seem to make queen size quilts most of the time. So far I've made quilts for 2 of three grown sons. I'm currently making one for our bed, also queen sized. I made a lap quilt for Christmas and it felt so very manageable!
Great fabric! My default quilt size has been crib size because I have a little one and one more on the way! They are quick to make!
I just noticed that Connecting Threads had lawn yesterday! I was curious about the quality of it and how it will sew up, so I am glad that you posted this today! I ordered my first fabric from CT the other day and I am waiting for it to arrive. I have always been curious about their fabrics, but had never ordered any before. But...I saw the Mastermind collection and noticed PURPLE ROBOTS and had to give it a go!
My go-to quilt size is a lap quilt, too. And sometimes a smidge bigger- not quite twin size. I guess I just see that size quilt as being really versatile. Great for hanging out on the couch, great for little ones needing some extra warmth at the baseball or football field, and great for gift-giving.
The quilt looks great!
Chanda
I absolutely LOVE Connecting Threads! They are my go to fabric and quilting needs site.
My default size is probably double/queen size.
LOVE the new Connecting Threads lawn! My favorite size is queen, unless the giftee is a child. It fits most everyone's bed. I make mostly gifts.
I don;t think I have a default size. My first quilt ever was a queen sized snail trail. My second was a baby blanket. 3rd was in between a full and a queen, and then my 4th was technically a shoulder wrap.
I just received my Connecting Threads catalog TODAY! What beautiful fabric. My default size is a lap. It's doable for me, and usually a good size for a gift. Thanks so much for this great giveaway :-)
Lately I've been making more wallhangings and tablerunners, and they vary in size. Thanks for the chance to win.
I tend to find a pattern or kit and make the size listed, generally a large laptop or wall hanging. I love the look of the fabric. I don't know what 'lawn weight' is though, off to check it out. Thanks for the giveaway.
Talk about perfect timing...just got the Connecting Threads catalog in the mail today and was wondering about the lawn cottons. I would love to win, so thanks so much for the chance!!
Most of mine tend to be crib or lap sized. I think I'm scared of big quilts.
I don't have a norm. But I love lap quilts!
My default quilt size is baby quilt. There seems to be no shortage of babies around currently who need quilts. Thanks for the giveaway, that is nice fabric!!
(lea_elina@yahoo.com)
your quilt is going to be gorgeous! My default size is any one I can get done!! lol So far the only quilts i've finished have been doll size, don't ask how many I have started!! Thanks for the chance to win some yummy fabric.
Crib or lap size. Thanks for the giveway, this fabric looks beautiful!
I've only done 4 quilts so far, and three of them were crib/lap sized. Not for any reason in particular, except they were all for babies! The other was slightly larger (around 50" x 60"). I like the crib size because it's quick, cheap, and you can have a solid backing!
cbakertroublemaker@hotmail.com
Oops forgot to mention quilt size, I love making baby quilts, about 40X50.
My default lately seems to be baby quilts! Lots and lots of baby quilts. After that, throw/lap size.
Lap quilts are my default - great gifts that sew faster, quilt easier on a small machine, and you don't have to know the recipient's bed size :). Thanks for the chance to win!!
Dana
Jrsugarbear at rocketmail dotcom
My default size is about 72x84". I like a quilt big enough for a bed but not too huge because I quilt them on my home machine. Thanks for doing this giveaway... crossing my fingers!
My usual size for a quilt is a lap size similar to yours...60 x 75ish depending on the block size. That is unless thee is a specific purpose. Thanks!
I tend to make twin sized quilts so my girls can use them on their beds.
I have made all sizes. Twin for kids, queen when they graduate or get married and baby quilts and throws for the rest of the time. "Lawn" makes me think of my mom. It was her favorite for summer dresses.
My default size is 60 x 72, lap quilt mostly because I make them as wedding gifts. Maybe I should stretch myself with one of the open-ended projects I'm working on and make it a twin!
My default quilt is a lap size, or cuddle size. I always cuddle up in a quilt and presume that the rest of the world does as well! Lately I will admit I am making even smaller quilts like wall hangings and table toppers. The fabrics are beautiful!
Making baby quilts was not going to be my default but, by default, it is! I've made one for every friend who's had a baby, 19 so far. And last year I got to make one for my own little baby!
I've made everything from crib size to California King, which was nearly impossible to sandwich / pin baste because I didn't have enough floor space and could only do half at a time. Quilting it on my regular machine was no treat either but it was a (requested) wedding gift for my sister so well worth the headaches. I usually make "cuddle size" quilts for children, which most people would probably consider lap size.
My default is lap size. It's just more manageable for the space I have. Maybe someday, I'll have more room.....
Love the fabrics!
I like either lap size or small doll quilts. I've been admiring the fabric and it's so nice to see how you have worked it up.
I tend to make a large lap size
by default. I have made lots of
quilts but have never made a king size! Thanks!
Seems as if lap size is everyone's default. Mine are around 60 x 80. Love the colors in these fabrics...so springy!
I tend to make full size quilts as the men in my family run tall.....as in 6'5". So we need LOOOONG quilts for snuggling on the sofa.
I've only made a couple twin size and a lap. I like them both so these would be the ones most likely to get made. The fabric is beautiful!!
Nancy James
Definitely lap, although I've been on a baby quilt
Kick lately.
Love this fabric!
You are too funny. I was just oohing and ahhing over this very fabric yesturday while looking at the catalogue. I love it. I usually make crib quilts or twin/double size and of course throw size too. But most are twin bed size. Like the one a day 9 patch that I am just finishing up. Your quilt is so lovely. I like lawn but have never made a quilt with it. Am anxious to hear what you think when it is all done. Thanks
I honestly can not think of a standard default size quilt. I do like making baby quilts because they are easier to maneuver under my sewing machine, but one can only use so many baby size quilts.
(fortunately, there are a lot babies being born in my life now, so I guess I CAN use a lot of that size for gifting.)
I've only made one crib sized quilt so far, but I have a lap sized half done and two king sized up to bat next! They are getting bigger apparently.
This is fabulous fabric. Thanks for the opportunity to win it!
I've just been looking through my CT catalog at these fabrics! They look lovely. I usually make lap sized quilts, unless it's for a specific purpose. Love making baby quilts because they go together so quickly!
Yup, lap size for me too. Great timing on the giveaway...I was just looking at this fabric in their new catalog that arrived today. Thanks!
I think I must be ADD because my comfort zone quilt is a 40x40 inch play mat size for a baby. I do lots of quilts that size. I love this fabric and have been trying to justify buying it - I even loaded it in my cart before I remembered we need to redo the bathroom.
Catalog just came today and I was really admiring the colors.
My default size is 60" x 84". My sons are all over six feet tall. They hate it when they want to wrap up in something while watching TV and it is too short.
I always assume too much is better than too little.
Lovely! My default size is crib, only because I have so many friends having babies.
Most of the time a large lap quilt-80x80. I'm new to quilting and I've used your tutorials a lot-thank you for the great tutorials.
I'd love to win this fabric! I'm new at quilting and mostly I've done baby quilts, but I did just finish a twin for my granddaughter when she gets that bed. It seems huge. :) I think my daughter and I are going to tackle a queen size soon. It's all so fun.
I am in the Go big or go home category. Usually around 102 X 110 or so....I always feel when I strive for a smaller quilt, it is missing something....haha....lots more blocks to be exact!!
These fabrics are lovely!! Hope I win!
Most of my quilts of lap size like yours.
I am afraid I am a "go big or go home" kind of girl. I am working on my third wedding quilt that will measure 88x96 (I hope). Can't wait until they start having babies - I haer the quilts are smaller!
Such lovely fabrics! I have only been quilting for a couple years. So far my default size seems to be nothing bigger than a baby quilt and as small as a candle mat, but this is the year (I'm fairly determined about it!) that I branch out and make some bigger quilts for my children's beds.
Woo Hoo!
I want some lawn!
LOL. That Lawn is so much prettier than mine... I do not think it will ever recover from last summer!
;)
I like to make bed-sized quilts.I have just recently discovered Connecting Threads and have found it to be of good quality also! For the price, you can't go wrong.
I would love to win some fabric. Thanks for the opportunity.
OK, I was *just* looking at that fabric online! How funny! Looks lovely.
I also used that block pattern and love the way it looks. But DANG, a KING SIZE? Holy moly, AJ! Good luck with the sashing!
Beautiful!
My default is baby sized--because I usually make them for babies!
I do have a larger top finished. I am worried about quilting it on my machine.
I'm new to quilting and would love to win some fabric! I haven't sewn enough to have a default quilt size...but I'm thinking I need to make a lap size one to start. : )
It's so pretty! Love Connecting Threads...thanks for the chance!
So far I'm a lap quilt girl but as I improve my skills, I hope to make larger quilts!
lwghosts at yahoo dot com
I do lap size unless it is a baby quilt. That is about all my little arms and small table can handle. I wish I had the endurance to get through a queen size!
Love the new fabric from CT! I haven't made two quilts the same size yet, but I'd probably use the FQ's to make a nice soft lap quilt. Thanks for the chance to win!
I have never made a quilt larger than a generous lap quilt. Most of mine are baby gifts. Thanks for a very generous giveaway.
I tend to make crib size quilts because I have lots of friends with babies and toddlers. :)
You are so brave to make a King size! I typically stay with 60 X 80 or baby sizes because they are easy for me to quilt on my machine. I've rarely made a quilt bigger than a twin because I'd lose either focus...and pinning the darn thing on the floor kills my back! Thanks for the giveaway.
i have made one half bed sized but my next will be queen
Finished and quilted? Max size about 60 by 60. But I have some lovely quilt tops that are much bigger. Love the fabric. I just got the catalog today!
Since I make baby quilts my default is 45" x 45". I generally end up piecing the back, but that just adds to the charm. Thanks for the give away!
I have been doing crib size for the past year. How can't resist making just one more adorable baby quilt. Oh, I just got my Connecting Threads catalog in today's mail!!!!
I'd say my "default" size if 60x72. For baby quilts, it's 36x45. Anyhow, the fabric is beautiful, and I would LOVe to win it. Thanks for the chance! :)
I am not sure if I have a default size since each project is targeted to specific purposes. I must say I have been making a lot of baby/crib size lately since baby # 5 is coming in 3 days and a lot of friends are having babies too! This has made for great fun in quilting and machine quilting- also I am loving using up lots of loose ends.
My favorite size is a lap quilt and everyone can have a lot of those. Just in the process of making 3 xmas lap quilts for my grandkids! Hope I win....would love a chance to make something with these fabrics. Thanks for the chance to win!
I seem to make alot of lap quilts as well. They are a good size to snuggle with and are easier to quilt on my machine!
Cute fabrics! I usually make twin or smaller
I tend toward large lap quilts; having said that I've done several queens lately...hmmm. Just received the latest Connecting Threads catalog and can't wait to sit down with it tonight!
I have been making lap quilts 42 x 60 or their about.
http://richardquilts.blogspot.com
http://juliadawnhealey.blogspot.com
Great quilt design and fabulous fabric!
Default quilt sizes: queen or 44 X 44 kids quilt.
Thanks for the chance to win, Joanna
I LOVE this collection!!! The colors are beautiful! I really like the quilt so far too! I would love to go check out the tutorial but I keep running into trouble when I go to FITF....
I have only made three quilts a twin, a crib and a scrap quilt that ended up ALMOST big enough for a queen size bed! I think that will be my default, because then I can make them for our bed or the guest room--there I can just layer them until someone comes to visit! LOL
I'm a square quilt quilter. My quilts usually end up 60x60 or 80x80, I can force myself to do rectangular quilts but it takes more thinking for me. The fabric is fantastic, looks like spring
My default size of quilt is a lap size of sort. Makes a nice gift for a non-quilter and it is not too big too quilt on a machine or by hand. If I win, I might make a quilt for Cathy:) She would like the colors.
Crib sized is best for me. I'm just learning and the smaller size is good for practicing my skills without being terrified!
It is beautiful. My default is throw but i'd live to make a twin or full size for my in-laws' beach house. I think those colors would complement perfectly!
I usually tend to make what I call nap quilts-- something that you can cover up with while watching t.v. or taking a nap on the couch. Never sure what size it'll end up because I like to change up the sashing or borders... but I like them to be 72 inches long-- that way your feet stay warm! :-) Your quilt is going to be beautiful!! Great job! :-)
I almost always do lap size quilts but really want to do larger ones. I just can't finish one before another 2 or 3 get started.

I have been making mostly queen-size quilts, but lately have realized I can get a lot more finished when I make them smaller. I just find a queen-size quilt to be such a useful size. Anyway, I'm a huge fan of Connecting Threads fabric. I think they get better with each line they produce. Thanks for the chance to win.
I usually try to make twin size quilts. But that is because my Hubby and I have a Lucy and Ricky set up with two twin beds. More than a little old fashioned, but it works for us because we work on opposite shifts.
From where I'm sitting, I'd have to say lap quilts (I can count six in my living room). I am working on three queen-sized quilts, but lap is my default. I'm a reader and I like to snuggle under a quilt. And they are just the right size for my kids to drag around the house. The perfect sized gift too.
Thanks for the giveaway, and your quilt is going to be lovely, as per usual.
I usually make lap size or baby quilts for our church quilt ministry. Thanks for the giveaway!
Crib quilts! About as small as you can go and still be useful. christina112358 at gmail dot com
Have to agree with your friend! Go Big or Go Home! lol love it! I usually make queen size quilts. Would make king but they definitely fill my quilting frame up completely.
I also do lap quilt size. It's big enough, without being too big, you know? I just got the new catalog from Connecting Threads and I was eyeing that fabric and wondering the same things. I laughed when you said you were making a King of that quilt. That sounds like something that would happen to me. It is so pretty though.
my default size is 55 x 72. I suppose it is because it fits for QOV and lap size nicely!
I don't have a default size (that'd be to easy); but I do make a lot of comfort quilts and prayer shawls..these look like perfect fabrics for both
I'm new to quilting as I sew mostly garments, but am starting to do some quilting as well. I've been making some quilted purses, totes, and placemats. Eventually, I may venture to a lap quilt. These fabrics are simply gorgeous!
I like the 60x72 size too. It is perfect for curling up on the couch :-) Good luck, everyone!
My default size is usually 60"ish by 60"ish, give or take a little. I figure that's a nice size for snuggling and even for tossing on the kids twin beds. If I am making it specifically for someone I ask what size bed they have then I make something that will fit it with some overhang. I haven't ever made a quilt the prescribed size for a certain bed.
I enjoy either making baby quilts or lap size quilts. I would like to make a king size quilt this summer for our bed, but I am a bit scared! I definitely will be sending it out to quilt though
Beautiful fabric! My default size is the lap quilt size. I would love to make a quilt for my bed but it is the quilting on my machine that worries me so that would be the first one sent to a long arm to be quilted. Thank you for the giveaway.
I was just looking at this today, in their new catalog. I have no set size on quilts.
I guess I most often opt for a lap size as well. That's a size my short arm can handle without having to turn the quilt around on a 5 inch pantograph. Tahnks for a chance!
I like baby or queen! Baby because it is fast and pretty easy. Queen is my other favorite size because it fits my bed. =) And love the prints I was just looking at them yesterday. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
My default size is twin because I'm trying to make a summer & winter quilt for each of my kids. I don't sew often, so it's taking awhile.
I've made more twin size than anything, but have done a few crib sized and a couple of queen sized. I haven't done the lap quilt size at all yet, though it's on my to do list!
i usually go for twin or queen sized quilts. i can't resist making a quilt big enough to put on a bed! :)
I tend to make lap size unless there is a reason I am making it for a bed, etc. I guess it is so I can finish and start another project!

What beautiful fabrics! My default quilt size is pretty much let's-just-wing-it! I aim for something between lap and twin sized. :)
