Welcome to finish it up Friday!
I finished my oatmeal quilt top!!! It measures 62" x 72". And it's 100% scraps!
this quilt was finished thanks to:
-My phenomonal neighbor, Martha, who stepped into my crazy 3 ring circus life yesterday to help me iron. She ironed and I sewed. For hours!! It was wonderful! Thank you so much, Martha!!
-My massive adrenaline rush after my first book signing last night. A HUGE thank you to all of you who came out to the library last night to listen to me share about my quilts and my new book. The evening totally excedded my expectations. YAY!!! After that, how could I sleep? The way I see it, if you can't sleep, why not quilt?!? :) I finished this top about 1 this morning. :)
-and all of YOU who join me in this challenge each week. If I didn't have the accountability, I have no doubt that just a few oatmeal blocks would be languishing in a basket somewhere, creating more chaos. So I thank YOU for keeping me motivated. It's just the push I need!
Ok, now it's your turn! Link up your finishes for the week and cheer on someone else, too. :)
Happy Friday to you!
I LOVE this quilt!! And I was with you last night at 1:00 AM sewing. Just had the sewing machine all warmed up and had to keep going :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see how you end up quilting this. For some reason it is screaming BLACK or Charcoal thread to me. Got a copy of your book...WONDERFUL, but I knew it would be!

Wow! I should work on improv... I am so NOT good at it!
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! I have been drawn to neutral tops like this recently, which is interesting because I do LOVE color. I like the idea of a colorful binding, too. I finally have a finish to show off, so I am linking up.
ReplyDeleteAngela and Rebekah from your quilt retreat in Ft. Collins from the fall are a part of our front range modern quilt guild now-isn't that neat?
Congratulations on your book signing! That is so exciting!
I love how you stick with something and see it through....I need to do more of that!
ReplyDeleteJust L O V E your Oatmeal!!!
ReplyDeleteSo nice!!!
Very nice!! With 2 boys, a dog and a cat (both with dark fur), I'd be scared to use those colros in my house. I'm glad I can live vicariously through blog-land :-). Thanks for helping me get things done too! I love this Finish Friday party!!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Such an interesting idea, and now I want to get my scraps out and make one too! And congratulations on the book - I finally got my copy from Amazon and it's amazing!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun way to use some scraps. And I really want to know where you get yourself such a fabulous neighbor!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see the quilt all finished. And thank you for hosting these Friday linky parties. It's a real incentive to have a finish each week!
Your quilt is just beautiful. Wish I could have been at the library to hear your talk!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of a quilt we used to have that Emma made ages ago. I think there was a block not very different than these in it somewhere. Do you remember that?
ReplyDeleteI was at a quilt show today and couldn't believe it; one of the vendors had your book! I grabbed it and started flipping through the pages admiring the beautiful work the two of you did. I couldn't believe that the blogger I have been following for a few years wrote a book and it was in my small part of the country! Pittsburgh, PA I wanted the vendor to say something so I could reply "I follow her blog!" but she didn't notice me drooling over your book. I would have bought it but I have told myself no more book/pattern buying. Good luck!
ReplyDeletewonderful finish! the creams create such a peaceful effect...and what a great neighbor, to boot!
ReplyDeleteI finished my students' grades, but I cannot post a link. I wish I could say that I finished with my cold, but it is just starting.
ReplyDeleteI Love this! It is very calm and subtle. Looks Great
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful and peaceful quilt top! I love the use of all the neutral solid colors.

ReplyDeleteOoooh, I LOVE the colors!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the quilt and LOVE the book! Looking forward to sorting my scraps soon....on one of those nights after work when I'm too tired to sew.
ReplyDeleteAmanda Jean, it's gorgeous! I love the different shades and sizes. And how great to have a friend like Martha!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your first book signing! It sounds like it was a success. It will be the first of many to come!
I LOVE your oatmeal quilt, everything about it ... the colors, the pattern ... it's just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh darn I missed the chance to link up. Love the oatmeal quilt
ReplyDeleteWow! I just love this quilt top! There sure are a lot of Friday Finishers this week - too bad I'm not one of them. Maybe next week :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a calm, charming quilt!
ReplyDeleteI wanted to share with you something that cracked me up. I received "Sunday Morning Quilts" this morning--yep, SUNDAY morning! It was actually delivered to my building this morning. (I live in Chicago and the courier they use often delivers on Sunday.)
It made me laugh and I thought it might make you laugh too. Now all I have to do is get the 4 and a half year old to give me enough time to actually look at it on Sunday morning!
congratulations on your first book signing!
ReplyDeleteI pinned a square with blue and green triangles going in a circle, with a white background. I can't seem to find it on your blog. HELP!!! I love it, and would like some info on it.
ReplyDeleteOoh, love the way it came together. I know you've had this one in your head forever. Go slabs!
ReplyDeleteWhat Mabel said... I love that block and would like to make it. Where do I find the pattern?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I was up the next night at 1:00...gotten absorbed into planning a quilt for my cousin and sketching out how I will cut my fabric strips and how much I will have left to work into the backing...
ReplyDeletemmm, I like it very much. I can't wait to see how you are going to quilt it.
ReplyDeleteMabel and Suzette,
