I made these quilts last spring/summer. It's really hard to quilt behind the scenes. It was for a good reason, though. This quilt pattern, (called Super Stars), is featured in the book Fresh Fabric Treats. I have to say, it's pretty fun to see your quilt in a book!! I was a little (ok, a lot) nervous, and a lot excited to see it in print. The book arrived on my doorstep a few weeks ago and I was able to flip through it. I was pleased as punch. It was a happy day!
So, this quilt (on the left) was made with Punctuation fabric, by American Jane, which is from last year.
This one (on the right) is made from Snippets fabric, also by American Jane, and it's even older than the Punctuation fabric...so I'm sorry to say, it's out of print. :(
I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite between the two! This is the back of the punctuation quilt.
This is the back of the snippets quilt. Can you tell that I made do with what I had in my stash for this one? I also made sure to include the extra block in the back. I love how it turned out.
Each quilt measures 72" finished. It's sooooooo nice to be able to (finally) blog about these!

Love them! Especially the star back on the one!

Lovely! Did you make this with charm squares? Looks like it would be a really fun use for charms, I imagine you'd just have to trim the center ones.
Love 'em both and congrats on them appearing in the book!
Love them both. You just can't go wrong with American Jane. :)
Congratulations on being in print!
I like them both. And the book was fun to look at. Yours is the best in the book. :)
Just Beautiful, Amandajean! What a lovely experience to see your quilts in a book. I also like your resourcefulness in using that extra block in the backing. Making do is always a good thing! Happy Quilting!
Well, Amandajean, this is Jayne, wife of Kevin, who left that last comment!! Actually, he was logged in on my computer, so when I commented, it came up as him! (Hoping that all makes sense! lol!)
Happy Quilting!

Both quilts are gorgeous! I can see why you have a hard time picking a favorite!
I really do love your star quilts and - I swear! - I never thought I would say this one day, because normally I really don't like star-patterns on a quilt at all.
But these are so bright and wonderful...
(...by the way, I just ordered the book immediately!)

Congratulations!! Your star quilts are wonderful! Great choice for the backing!
This was the pattern that I LOVED the most from the book - as soon as I saw it thought it would be perfect for my cherished FMF stash! Thanks for an awesome pattern!
You go girl with your ROCKSTAR quilting self!!! Love the back... I really wish I could figure out how to align the front to the back...
So great to see the stars in person! I loved seeing them in the book - congratulations to you! You deserve to toot your horn for this. I'm always inspired by your inventiveness in using scraps. I adore the way you incorporated the star block on the back - such a cool effect.
Beautiful -- I think my daughter would love one like these for Christmas.
Those quilts are beautiful!!!
they are gorgeous! congrats.
love, love!
I recently purchased your book specifically to make this darling quilt but I'm confused about something. As I'm frustratingly unable to find a turnover in the fabric I want to quilt with, I wondered if I could just purchase a few more charm packs and cut them on the diagonal to make the star points. Your instructions state to cut the turnovers down to 5" anyway so I wondered if I could make it work with a charm pack because I'm in a bind. Thanks so much for your help!
Janeen Kelly,
I don't think they make turnovers anymore, I'm sorry to say. That probably explains why you are getting so frustrated, huh? Anyhow, you could just buy extra charm packs...however, if you start with a 5" charm square for a half square triangle, you will lose some for the seam allowance, ending up with a 4" Half square triangle, not a 5" HST. I hope that makes sense! If you have further questions, email me at crazymomquilts@yahoo.com and I'd be happy to help.
