Meeting so many other bloggers was certainly a highlight. I got to meet Anna, Kellie, Bonnie and Camille, Anita, Lissa, Vanessa and Heather. I can't say just how neat that was. (And plenty intimidating, too!)
I got to see quilts made by:
3 of my favorite quilts there were old (or antique) quilts...made with teeny tiny pieces.
Same size squares on this one, but pieced with triangles. It's quilts like this that make me wonder why I call myself a quilter.
This one was from the 70's. It was done by a woman who made it while her dad battled some sort of illness. It was beautifully made and intricate. All hand pieced. Amazing.
I was good and only bought one FQ bundle the entire day. Over the weekend I came up with a quilt along idea to use it for. More on that next post!
It looks like you had a wonderful time! I would love to go sometime... I can't believe you had so much self-restraint to only buy a fat quarter; I don't think I would have done so well. I love that triangle quilt picture!
ReplyDeleteAh, wish I could have meet you there. I was up on Saturday and hung out with Vanessa. I was extremely intimidated by all the talent there.
ReplyDeleteOh a quilt along?! For us?! YAY! I really love those antique quilts, that is what I am normally drawn to also! They are so pretty. I plan on making some of those with my scraps when I have a big enough pile. I haven't been quilting long enough for that pile to get big enough yet.
ReplyDeleteMy envy is strong. How fun for you! Gorgeous quilts too. Another quilt-along? You know I'll have to join. Even though I probably shouldn't. = )
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you have in order for a Quilt along! I have several bunches of FQs just waiting for the right project!
ReplyDeleteHow fun that you had a chance to go! I bet it was a blast! Thanks so much for taking a picture of my quilt - it's the first photo I've seen of it (now I know for sure it was there!)

ReplyDeleteI think you fall into the category of people who don't give themselves enough credit. I come to your blog for inspiration all the time! Pat yourself on the back. I am sure they were excited to meet you as well. Thanks for sharing the pics.
I can't believe you only bought one FQ bundle. That is some self control.
ReplyDeleteAnd you made me laugh when you said, "I call myself a quilter."
I feel that way often. :)
i wish i knew you were there.. would have been nice to meet up! looks like you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteStill, what an experience. Now you know what it's all about.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Looks like it was a great time. Isn't it so much fun to meet blogging friends in person?? Thanks for including the pic of my quilt! I hope that one of these days I'll get to market WITH a quilt instead of it being there without me! ha.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a treat! I can't wait to see the quilt along post you've made up for the FQ bundle - I have a couple of those in my stash that I'd like to use up.

ReplyDeleteSo, I just about fell out of my chair when I saw my stats and had received more than 400 hits today. Then I realized you must have done your market post. I had such a great day and I picked the right person to bring as my guest.
ReplyDeleteWill my mod kitchen fat quarter pack work for the quilt along? or should I raid my Amy Butler stash?
Wow!!! I love that Chinese lantern quilt - there certainly must have been a lot of inspiring people there.
ReplyDeletewow! This is the paradise!!

ReplyDeleteOh Amanda it looks like you had so much fun!! That was a funny little story about your Mother's Day gift. Thanks for sharing your photos and a quilt a long idea...... can't wait to hear it ♥
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to go! What a treat! How fun to meet all those quilters there. I love those vintage quilts too.
ReplyDeleteHi there! Which quilt market was it? Sounds like a lovely day out! Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteack! i can't believe you were there and i was there, but we didn't meet. bummer!
ReplyDeleteA quilt along would be nice.
ReplyDeleteI can understand the small pieces under stress phenomenon. I am finishing a small quilt started under stress and I wonder now how I made 3/4" triangles? And WHY?
Looks like you got to see some neat stuff.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing. I am a sucker for antique hand-pieced quilts, too. Especially the ones with such small pieces. My mother-in-law has a doozy of an antique: each 7 inch block contains a star made up of NINETY pieces. NINETY.
ReplyDeleteI could lie and say that I'd like to do something like that someday. But I won't. It's easier to just admire. :)
Sounds like a lovely day out! Congrats!!

So glad that you got to attend and had a great time! But only one fat quarter bundle, really?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the show, I love all the quilts. And admire your restraint, know I wouldn't have done as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad youre back!!! Its great that you went to market and met all my favorite blog ladies. I think its really funny that you are a mystery woman, only pictures of your feet. Can't wait for your quilt along. Maybe our LP quilt group will do it with you. If your come to LP please stop in at our meeting. Mary Jo
ReplyDeleteThank you for including my quilts! I didn't realize you were going to be there...you should have come to our cake party!
ReplyDeleteMy heart skipped a beat when I saw the Japanese lantern quilt. I just finished a similar quilt. I googled Japanese quilt images and came up with my design. My quilt is a wedding gift for our first Japanese exchange student that stayed with us 16 years ago. All the quilts pictured are amazing.
ReplyDeleteNice to be visiting your blog again! I love, love that 70ish triangle quilt. Looks like just random color choices but looking closer I noticed a diagonal color pattern. And then the solid triangle borders. It is really a nice quilt to look at. More and more I am loving these types of quilts. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a whole lotta fun!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I missed you!!!!! You came the day I was laid up in bed. ARGH! Yet another reason why my cold bit me hard - and that was missing you!
ReplyDeleteI love your state and Minneapolis - and I loved that I got to experience Minnesota Nice! I <3 MN! And of course, I <3 CMQ's!!
Gorgeous quilts! It is such a treat to see these antique quilts pieced with teeny tiny bits. Thanks a bunch for sharing these pictures :)
