I really like to make baby quilts. You wouldn't know it by the frequency of which I make them, but man, they are fun. You don't have to piece backing. Basting is easier. Quilting is easier. It's all good.
This little quilt is a commissioned quilt for a woman who is having her 4th daughter. As with all my quilts, I had my moments of doubt at different stages of it, but I LOVE the results. It's been awhile since I made a pink and green quilt and I was happy to discover that I still love that color combination. :)
I actually bought backing fabric for this quilt. I love this fabric so much. It's the perfect backing fabric because the stitches blend right in. I especially love how it works with the binding fabric (which came from my stash).
There are brief instructions how to make it here.
Since I've been on a mission to finish up my quilting WIP's, I've been starting knitting projects instead. Thankfully, I was able to finish one of those as well, just in time to use this season.
It is a simple one skein scarf. It has ruffled ends, which is perfect, since I usually have wavy scarf ends whether the pattern calls for them or not. :)
The colors are a little dark in the photos. This is one of those scarves that will go with almost anything, so I'm sure I'll be wearing it a great deal.
Happy December!
Great quilt, as always! And you can mark another one off your list now! So, that brings you down to about 17 wips? :)
ReplyDeleteVery cute quilt! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteI like those ruffled ends. :) And the baby quilt, of course!
ReplyDeleteLove the baby quilt. I do love pink and green together. My daughter has those colors in her room and it looks so cute.
ReplyDeleteSo, your wip list is whittling down. It motivates me to get moving on my many projects.
Love the Film strip piece. I find it interesting how the larger size (seen in your tutorial) gives the quilt another illusion. Excellent job!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute little quilt! I love making baby quilts too... they're so much less aggravating and back-breaking. I tend to hate quilts when I'm working on them because I start doubting myself, but I always end up loving them when they're finished.
ReplyDeleteBoth look great! I love pink and green together. Well I love pink period but I also love contrast.
ReplyDeleteI love the ruffly ends on the scarf too! I knit really loosely, especially when I bind off, so I go down a needle size or two when I bind off and it usually helps.
I {heart} paisley!! Especially in Pink!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute quilt! Hope everything went well for Mom last night.
ReplyDeleteI love pink and green too. I find I make a bunch of pink and green cards over and over for card swap. Good colors.
ReplyDeleteYou're so speedy. Keep it up. I'd race you, but I know you're going to beat me. ;)
You are so talented! I really need to buckle down and finish all my WIP projects. I think I'm up to about 15 right now!! I get distracted too easily I guess. I LOVE your baby quilt!! I'm going to have to try that pattern, it looks so fun! (See, distracted!!!)
