basting these two quilts was the extent of my quilting yesterday. our summer vacation pace is going to take some getting used to. thankfully, stippling is a stress reliever for me. because boy oh boy do i need it.
I remember when my kids were home during the summer I got so few sewing projects done but I sure made lots of special memories being with them. Now that I am working full time teaching and my kids are grown, summers are my time to get back on track. It's funny how life goes, isn't it?! Enjoy your precious ones!
I remember reading somewhere on your blog that your machine is always set up which allows you to steal moments to sew but still allows you to be on call for your kids. I'm trying to do a better job pausing my sewing when my kids call for me. Somehow I just can't always hear them over the hum of my sewing machine. :-)
I'm having some trouble staying inside to do sewing since my kids are real outdoor kids. I'm attempting to start a new knitting project because its a little more portable and still keeps my creative juices flowing.
I've been reading your blog for some time but this is my first comment.
You are an inspiration. How do you do it? With kiddies still at home? It's just me and my husband now and we do have a small homestead . . . and a very large vegetable garden which is my priority in the summer but I still feel put to shame by the quilting you get done on a daily basis.
If I don't make some time for quilting soon, I'll have forgotten where my quilt room is.
Oh, yeah, and you still find time to blog about your quilting regularly. You go, Girl! :o)
You'll figure it out. You just steal moments here and there and then you look back and go "hey I got more done than I thought!" Plus these are years you will NEVER get back so enjoy them!:)
i love the oh cherry oh... looking forward to seeing it finished... no summer pace around here... things are much more crazy than usual and maybe it would be nice if they slowed down!
Glad you have a stress reliever. I love the quilt-making process--until it is ready to quilt. Hopefully, practice makes perfect or at least better.
Just wanted to say your blog is an inspiration. Imagine my delight to open my new quilting magazine and see the Moda Bakeshop ad, and there is a picture of one of your quilts and your blog info. I thought--"I know her." Thank you for your wonderful blog.
I love the cherry quilt! Its very, um, cheery. lol! I'm in summer vacation mode, too. My kids want to be outside all day...I wonder if I can set up a sewing area outside???????? With a long enough extension cord it might work!
I think those cherries comes from the Recipe for Friendship line by Moda. I have the line in layer cakes which I'm itching to use but I want to make something that does not require me to arrange the blocks.
OhMyGosh -- you ARE Crazy!!! Stippling is a stress reliever??? It makes me nuts -- all tense in the shoulders and uptight -- a stress inducer for me. You're very, very lucky!!!
Uh, oh. Is having the kids home from school a lot to handle? I hope that you're enjoying some summer activities and that you get the time to quilt that you want (or that you enjoy some time not quilting, if that's what you want).
ENJOY your kids while they are young. They will be gone before you blink your eyes, trust me. Then, you will have all the time in the world to do whatever you desire. It will come way quicker than you will ever believe too.
Where do you find time to make such amazing quilts and blog and look after your kids? Perhaps you have more hours in your day than we have in Australia!
wow Amanda! you are very productive!! i want be like you!
