today i am spiderwebbing... (i'm making a very conscience effort to work on my wips, not add to them. it's very difficult!)
and potty training. as cute as it is when my daughter says, "mom, i'm all peed up!", i've heard it plenty.
fun times here at the crazy mom household.
what are you up to today?

Ive just put the kids to bed :) So I'm going to catch up on my nine patches.
Karen
it's chore day at our house. laundry is going, dishes washing, pulling sheets off beds. The 2-month-old is sleeping and my 2-year-old is "helping." And I'm contemplating how I'm going to embellish the plain white bedskirt that I'm converting to a crib skirt to match my baby's quilted bedding!
I love the look of those spiderwebs. Do you have a template you use for the foundation piece? Are they just random pieced or paper pieced? I know a bunch of questions that you probably don't need while potty training, huh? LOL
All I seem to be doing today is moving fabric from one side of the room to the other. I either need a bigger room or a major tidy-up. Just have time to do my 9patch for the day before settling own for the evening with some stitching.
Nothing near as fun as "potty training" and spider webbing! Enjoy your day!
Slow start today. That spiderweb looks difficult. I am headed to the treadmill soon and then I hope to sew for a bit.
I'm at work on the internet - obviously! Finding inspiration for new projects!
Today I am nursing a cold, and trying to catch up with washing from a weekend trip. It would be more fun to be sewing :-)
"all peed up..lol That's cute.
I don't know what sounds more complicated, potty trainer or that amazing quilt you got going.
Ooh, pretty pretty colours! You've got a great eye for matching colours.
I work work work all day, then quilt quilt quilt all night :)
Cheers,
Christine

Got to love the things that comes out of toddlers mouths!!! LMBO @ All peed up!!!
haha! I've heard SO many versions of tht myself!
these look great amanda jean!!
today i am cleaning, recovering, organizing.
I can't wait to see your spiderweb quilt! I would love to try that pattern. Just finished up some travel pillows for my little boy and his friend :)
I was working on a new technique for ribbon flowers, using pre-strung beads. I got the idea that i could baste the beads in place with my machine. Might have worked too if I hadn't landed directly on the bead... so some hand stitching is in order.
cute, cute, cute.
we are potty training here at the griffith house too.
:D
Spiderwebbing looks great! Difficult, but great :-). I will need a nap today instead of working on my disappearing 9 patch outdoor quilt ... my 10 month old is working on 3 teeth and was up from 3:30 - 5 am (and so was I!)
Potty training is about to happen here. It's definitely on the horizon. We have a lot of my 2 year-old marching and happy screams today. I'm looking forward to nap time.
I have been taking a new approach to my qilting. I see how the one block a day thing really makes quick and painless progress. So, I'm doing a little bit every day on one project, and I have three quilts going right now. I love it! Amanda Jean, you are always showing me something new.
Tina
getting ready for the in-laws cuz I'm going to sub tomorrow and they get in tomorrow night.:) My favorite thing to do clean;)hahahaha I could just keep laughing:)
I'm working from home for my job today, as you can plainly see. Working very hard. Feeling overwhelmed about all my wips and quilting commitments!
We've been having a battle of wills with our youngest, 4.25 years old. Today I am making Great progress by "catching him" doing what he's suppose to and then rewarding him with a cuddle in my lap while I read a book to him. If I catch him not-doing what he's suppose to, he has to stand in a corner, or put his hands over his head on a switch-plate for a time out... both of these time out locations are new for him.
Also, I'm finishing reading Book Three of The Sword of Truth Series by Terry Goodkind. It's the book series that the TV Show "Legends of the Seeker" is based on. I enjoyed the show on www.hulu.com and now am enjoying the books. :D
Oooh I remember those days! Believe it or not, wish for them back. It really does fly by way too fast!
Love the spiderwebs!! Potty training, boy does that bring me back. Cute saying, I can hear the little voice now.
Great minds think alike. I too am working on my spiderweb. I have all my stash in a basket and my mini clover iron set up on my table so I can move things smoothly along. I need to make more paper templates though. I am using the sandwich wrapper paper from Costco and cutting my pattern from there. The paper is lighter and easier to tear, plus it is cheaper to use. I love using it since it is a 12 x 12 size.
Have fun today
Debbie
The Spider webbing is so cool! I can't wait to see the finished product.
I am also nursing a cold and working on finishing 6 baby quilts for a friend's store. Finished quilting #6 yesterday, today, sewed on it's binding. In my future LOTS of hand-sewing of bindings. But, before that, some nine patches!
I am also potty training my 2.75 year old daughter. I thought they say girls are easy....? Not mine... and then I am going to get another 1 inch star completed for my brother-in-laws American flag quilt. I also need to run into town to the store and figure something out for dinner tonight. Wow when I say it like that it seems like alot to do... well good luck with your potty training! Erin
Gosh your blocks are so nice and neat. Good luck with the PT'ing. I think it is one of the most challenging things to do. I used bribery. LOTS of M&Ms! : )
That is too funny - All peed up!!! LOL. I have gone as far as printing the directions for a spiderweb of my own, but I'm saving that for another day. I love the narrow strips, going to be way cool....
Your spider webs are so you. I can't believe how much scrap you have. I don't think I see any two same fabric in there.
Good luck with potty training. I had easy ones and hard ones. Hopefully your girl is a easy one for you.
¡¡me gusta mucho¡¡
We just finished potty training our youngest. We are currently a diaper free household!!!
Today I'm running errands and tomorrow is chore day. I'm seriously considering playing catch up and joining in your 9patches...but I sssooo really don't need another project!! But its the perfect project to use up some of my vintage pillowcases. And I have the perfect bubble gum pink sheet set to use for the sashings...hhmmm, doesn't sound like I'm trying to talk myself *out* of it, does it?!?!
I would love to make a spider web quilt but I need to finish up my very long list of WIPs before I start anything new too.
So hard to finish those WIPs-- I have one of those spiderwebs going, too, but I'm only four blocks in. Those suckers take longer than I think they will.
My husband has actually begun to notice how many "open" projects I have, so I know it's really bad!
potty training is NO FUN!!
Good luck.
It's hard to be frustrated though when they're so cute, eh?
I should be potty training however...I have not worked up the courage to start. I am working on a mother's day gift for my MIL. Hopefully it turns out cute!
I just finished pinning a top and now I'm about to quilt it on up and bind it! Then I'm moving on to some new patriotic quilts!! But a spiderweb is certainly in my immediate future!
Just back from the never-ending trips to the grocery store. Tonite I'm finishing up some purses and aprons for a GIANT art festival in town next weekend! Wish me luck
Those spiderwebs look great!
Pretty spiderwebs! Good luck with the potty training.
I'm running around trying to meet deadlines and playing taxi. Wish I could do some fun sewing...
We're potty training too! I was just thinking that I need to find some hand work that I can do while I sit in the bathroom multiple times a day! :) Good luck with yours. I'm ecstatic because this will mean no diapers for the first time in 10 YEARS!!!
Oh I love those!! I am looking around for inspiration so I can start a new project. I hate that I don't have a project going right now.
Good luck with the potty training! I will be wiping noses all day..kids are down with the cold! Oh Joy!
Volunteering at school, sitting in the sunshine with a quilt magazine :), sewing a few nine-patches, making a batch of soap, taking oldest dd to youth group and pin basting my mod sampler quilt along. Whew!
Potty training....I have the potty, the toddler, and still...changing diapers. Let me know if you find what works :-)
Today's forecast for me is to convince my 17 year old son that he has to study for ALL his exams not only for the subjects he likes. Imagine if its a very HARD job that I actually miss those potty training days!
ooooops! forgot to say I love your spiderwebs. I also love polka dots!
Biquiños
Holy cow that is fabulous!
always way too much to be done in a day, but as long as I can squeeze a bit of sewing into a day, it's all good...
Work all day then dinner, then balance the checkbook and pay some bills, then maybe if I'm lucky a little sewing. I have a pattern that I need to get cut out and sewn up soon! LOL
Can't wait to see your spiderweb. I know it will be awesome with all those pretty colors! :)
Oh how cute!
The blocks look fabulous
Me I'm about to head into school, taking transport for a school trip...I am taking some stitchery with me tho. I have baking to do for a church craft stall tomorrow, kids have piano practice the list goes on, but tonight DH is going out the kids are going to bed early and me I'm going to quilt yahoo!
shopping!
Still haven't tried the spiderweb pattern but I've got loads of scraps just waiting...
Today I drove to NYC and met with one of my favorite bloggy quilter friends. We went to the Whitney and had lunch and talked and talked. Then I picked the baby up from my Mom's and headed back to real life. It was wonderful.
Ugh, potty training is no fun.
Today I am cleaning while trying to get over a cold. So dusting, cough up a lung, organize, cough some more...lots of fun! But at least something is getting done even if it is slow going.
I should be WIP-ping and potty training...but I am doing neither!
I worked like the dickens on eight placemats yesterday, so I'm taking a nap and watching TV.
Cute stuff. As for the potty training, my son was a breeze. My daughter took two weeks and it was a battle every day until day 14. My kids will be in bed soon and then I'm tacking down the binding on a super cute project. Yipee!
I'm celebrating being done with classes (for a week) and planning my next quilting project!
isn't spiderwebbing fun...we could make it a new sport! as for me...i'm nine patching tonight.
Wow, lots of people potty training today. Me too, actually. He was three in January, so it's past time, but when we tried before, he just wasn't getting it, didn't want to. Anyway, I have one more to go after him.
Other than that I just made phone calls all day, did a little laundry, made homemade eggrolls. I think I sewed like three seams on Geese in the Forest and I made my one nine-patch (although I think I'm three days behind).
oh, you are so good to keep up with your spiderwebs.
i just painted the kids bathroom. i hate painting!
I'm sticking with simple right now - *more* satin baby blankies! Had fun in the scrap bins at JoAnns last night. I LOVE your spiderwebs! I'm not quite ready to take on paper piecing yet...
Those are beautiful....a friend of mine on facebook recently posted about potty training her daughter in 3 days or something crazy like that. Go to 3daypottytraining.com and check it out. She said it worked! Thanks for the inspiration!
i think today was the first day that i was not sewing and storing up 9 patches...i love the spiderweb work, i can not wait to see it all coming together
I, too, was spiderwebbing. All I need to do now is trim & assemble!!
I was trying hard not to start anything new...until the 9-patch. I haven't made the one a day, but have been enjoying it. Slowly cutting here and there, and loving when the perfect fabric combo comes together!
I was trying to use my Amy Butler Charm, but have started to add others that work.
Oh I love the quilt blocks!
As for the potty training, i have just started with my 2 year old son. My Daughter was easy,2 days and she was totally trained. That was 15 years ago. I never even had brothers, so training a boy is new to me. If anyone has tips I'd love to hear them.
As for wip I am trying to finish a quilt for a graduation present. Which I just started this week.Guess I better get busy huh?
I'm blogging while I "should be working".
Loving the spiderweb blocks.
Good luck with the toilet training.
So glad I'm past all that.
Andi :-)
What a WIP! Won-der-ful!!!
Let the Force be with YOU ;D
Just like on my back and sometimes butt - cut my right foot with my rotary cutter last Friday and may end up with a cast (a hairline fracture is suspected but will know more tomorrow when i have another doctor's appointment).
Love all the spiderwebbing quilts that pop up on blogs!!
I should be working today, but some muscles in my back are having a fight and are wrestling to see who wins...
I really love that spiderweb pattern w/ white centers :) We are grocery shopping this morning, then laundry & putting winter clothes into storage.
Cleaning dd#1's room (even though I swore I wouldn't) so when she gets home late tonight from moving out of her dorm room she can find her bed. And STILL trying to finish my star quilt along top. It looks like today might be the day. Just one more row to sew on. Every time you ask this I'm working on that quilt top. That's embarrasing.
I'm right with you on the potty training... someone could make a fortune with a "potty camp". Send your kid and they train them and send them back to you in a week. I'd have NO problem letting go of that parental responsibility! Best of luck and thanks so much for a great blog!
I have wanted to start a Spiderweb quilt, oddly enough, I don't have enough scraps.. seriously I've used them all already. I think it would be awesome with reds, aquas, and whites!
Although I can't say I've experienced the whole potty training thing first hand, (unless you know, myself) I'm doing something just as difficult today... Paying wedding vendors.. ugghhhhh No one ever tells you that when planning a wedding, be prepared for the last 2 weeks.. when.everyone.wants.to.be.paid.
very cute about the all peed up comment :)
I just wanted to tell you that your blog has been such an inspiration to get my projects done! Especially when I get to that point that I'm ready for the next one, and have ended up with many WIPs! And I love looking at all your great works! Thank you for keeping this blog!
Always,
Katy

WOW!!! I love your spiderwebbing technique--never have seen it before--can't wait to see more of it, and/or directions. And, BTW, I can totally identify with the potty training period. Although it's been 23 years (give or take), it feels like yesterday. But rest assured, it will pass. (You and I learned, right!!)
I love the spiderweb quilt top and the lovely bright colours in the log cabin one.
I should be working on some old WIPS, but instead I'll keep ignoring them.
How's the potty-training going?
Wow - spiderwebbing looks cool and time-consuming.
Wishing you luck with the potty training.
