wip

wip-baby quilt
here is my newest work in progress- a baby quilt.

it's small. only 36" x 44" or so.

(it's very hard for me to work on a small scale.)

but i love it so far.

i'm really, really happy that i was brave enough to add the one orange square.

and i like that the squares go right to the edges of the quilt.

---------
thanks for all your answers to my questions yesterday. i'm going to try to upload my photos through flickr and see how that goes. a huge thanks to Alissa who walked me through the specifics of how to do this, as i'm fairly computer challenged. and while i have a wonderful in house IT guy (my husband), he draws the line at blogging problems. i don't blame him one bit. :)

This is so lovely! Good for you for taking risks! The baby who snuggles under this quilt will be a happy baby, (s)he couldn't help it with such cheery prettiness covering her/him up :)

I really like the orange square, especially the square within the orange square. I'll be excited to see which fabric you choose for the binding.

LOVE IT!! That orange square is perfect. I'm not sure I would have had the kahuna's to do it, but I'm glad you did! Gorgeous! ~Jessica

Oh, I love this and I agree that going right to the edge without a border really makes it special. Actually, I think I'm over borders these days. Can't wait to see it quilted.

I definitely wouldn't have been brave enough to add the orange but it looks terrific! Just wanted to ask you where do you buy and how much do you keep on hand of all your solid white fabric?

Love your quilt. So colorful and bright up my day!
My husband teaches Engineering and used to work with Microsoft. Well well .. I also can't come to him in every problems about blogging. ha ha ha anyway only they support us when we keep buying more fabrics is fine!

Obviously this is a color combination that I like a lot, since it is recurring in a lot of my recent projects (including that pink/red/orange baby quilt). Partly, it was my attempt to venture into the world of orange, so I hear you on the bravery! This patchwork is beautiful and I'm glad you shared it. Thanks!

I love your use of white. It always looks so clean on all of your projects. I admire your ability to take risks and use it! I am terrified of white, why?? because I'm messy!

The one orange block totally makes the whole quilt.

I love that design! I love how it's just a little kooky and "off", but in such an awesome way. And the colors are just so happy, and the orange almost makes me giggle in a wonderful way. Goes to show you don't have to take anything too seriously, even (especially?) a quilt.

Love the baby quilt! Gotta love those in-house IT dudes.

This baby quilt is going to be gorgeous! Small scale can be tough but 36x44 is the best bet for your quilt becoming a blankie. :)

Mind sharing how you do your pics through FLickr?? I tried and got it in the post, but couldn't get the picture to sit in the center like I wanted it to. I used to link from flickr and added in the html section but that's where I got stumped...

I realized though that I'm using only 19% so far, so I think I'm safe for now. Cool quilt~! I need to make one soon too for a baby girl.

AmandaJean,

I need a bit of help, if you please. I am a beginner, I have made 5 lap sized quilts. I know have a king sized top that I made for a dear friend and am scared stiff about quilting it! I have no idea how I am going to do this. Any words of wisdom, advice?

Thank you in advance

Mary Ellen Hopkins said that all quilts should have a stripe. Maybe all quilts need orange?

I meant to comment and forgot. I am sorry. I am glad you got your questions answered. I love this new top. I notice you really use a lot of white and I love it. I didn't use to but you inspire. I am working on a quilt for my daughter and I am seriously thinking of white as the sashings. The backing will be pieced white on whites.
I love this new top you did and I love the orange square.
You inspire.
Smiles,
Sherry

That looks great so far, I would love to see the finished product. I'm busy with a baby playmat at the moment and so far, the only problem I've had was sewing through the wadding. It's my first big project for patchwork. Congrats on yours though, it looks lovely.
