fun with boxes quilt

I had a little boy turn 5 this weekend.

So a new shirt was in order...

and so was a new quilt.

This is one of my favorite squares.
I love that number fabric. (Thanks, Taia!)

The backing...

Lots of quilting...

And the binding.

He loves it.
I love it.

I think I could make a hundred of these. They are so fun to make and I love how the little boxes of color float in the white.

Looking back, it's very reminiscent of this quilt, which I finished nearly one year ago. OK, so maybe I could make 99 more of these. :)

Oh, what a fantastic quilt, Amandajean. I just can't tire of seeing your handiwork. You make such beautiful and creative quilts, and this one is fun with the number fabric in the piecey blocks. The binding on this quilt is really interesting... what fabric did you use for it?

Your quilt is absolutely beautiful. {no surprise here} I keep thinking I should try to make a quilt for my bedroom. Luckily I can come back to your blog for reference :) How great is that?

How great, the number fabric is adorable. My little guy will be 5 in April and the number fabric would be great for the quilt he will need for Kindergarten.

this is so darling! The colored squares with the thick white border is so fresh looking. I'm thinking I should try this out with all my scraps and favorites that I don't want to use too much of. Thanks for the inspiration!

I love love love this quilt! It reminds me a little of the quilt I am making for my son that I really need to get back to. And using the measuring tape fabric as binding was pure genius. Thanks for the inspirational blog, you motor through projects at a terrifying but very impressive rate.
