The house of girls quilt is complete.
This is a total scrap quilt. I took two pieces of pretty fabric and sewed them together, pressed, added another piece of pretty fabric, pressed, on and on. It was a lot of fun to piece using this method. I have never done a whole quilt this way before, but I plan on trying it again.
Roxanne, do you recognize these fabrics?
The quilt is a lap size: 52" x 65".
I thought the quilting added a nice texture to this flower.
This was the first time I used a thrifted vintage sheet for the backing.
I probably won't do it again-I much prefer pieced backs.
Although the colors in this sheet match the front perfectly.
This is going to my friend who has 4 girls.
It's her belated birthday gift.
I'm only a month late on this one.

Love the back. I know quite a few people who use that technique to make blocks & them sew the blocks together to make a quilt - I like this version (style) "sew" much better.
so so pretty. i love the back too. makes me want to use all those old vintage sheets i have been collecting for something
It's very pretty! I've been working on my block swap quilt and, well, let's just say it's "interesting"...
So pretty and feminine, congrats on such a lovely finish.
Oh, I really love the back.
(And you are so prolific!)
amazing what you can do with scraps! It's just gorgeous. I bet the process was fun :)
I'm sure your friend won't mind you being late.
That is so amazing! That's one lucky friend!
What a clever idea! And so pretty...makes me think I might like to try something like it!
I actually like the backing. Maybe because it's an ultra-fab vintage sheet.
It's lovely as always, Amandajean.
I really wish I could watch you quilt in action and learn all of your tips. Your work is just amazing.
Wow that looks so nice. I think your idea of sew and press is a great one. Hmmm That's got me thinking!
That's a very cute quilt! I've done that technique for blocks but nor for an entire quilt. it works!
I love to make quilts that way, it's such fun, though my results have never quite matched the prettiness of this.
So pretty! I adore the back.
What a lucky friend! And what a cute quilt -- love the colors!
I love that quilt! I am a sucker for vintage sheets so I love the back too.
Very nice!!! I recognize alot of those fabrics!!
What a pretty quilt! Was that a pattern or did you just make it up as you went along? I have a ton of scraps and fat quarters, I should try that. I love all those colors, and the backing is great!
I have that same vintage sheet and it's one of my favorites! I love how it looks quilted!
You did a fantastic job on all the piecework on front!
What a great idea and a lovely quilt.
So beautiful! I adore scrappy quilts and like the design you used for the blocks and your vintage sheet for the backing. You are amazing Amanda Jean. I'm certain your friend will be delighted with this gorgeous gift.
Beautiful! I'm sure your friend will think it was worth the wait!

Beautiful quilt. I like the sheet on the back.
So you did no planning at all? Your fabrics just happen to match so perfectly? It's absolutely beautiful. The sheet for backing is a wonderful idea.
I agree with the others! It is absolutely beautiful!
It's fantastic! The quilting texture really does add something extra to the flowers.

The quilt is great and I love the backing. I'm sure your friend will be very happy with it, though she had to wait for a month for it (anyone could wait much more to have this quilt).
Love it! The back is awesome! And as always, I love it when I recognize fabric...the white w/ pink roses was from a garage sale score, the green stripe with the daisies was made into aprons for little girl birthday presents, the pink with the large mum flowers was part of some table runners from Sydney's first birthday party, and the white with pink and tan flowers was yet another garage sale score! Just thought I would share a little history - even though it's pretty recent stuff, it still brings back memories! Another amazing quilt!
What a beautiful quilt! And I love the thrifted sheet on the back.
Wow this is gorgeous! And I love the sheet on the back. It looks good even if you didn't prefer using a sheet.
This is totally wonderful. And the back too. What a great sheet!
this is so strange... my grandmother had the same sheet set from a zillion years ago (literally i think she brought it from the old country it's so old). my sister took it with her to college many years ago and lost the topsheet. i was just at her new home in chicago and we were talking about this sheet set that we loved and missed! where ever did you find this? and also...the quilt is definitely my favorite. it's perfect for someone like me who can't make up their mind about which color is best :)
This is so lovely! What a lucky friend! :)
I love the back of this quilt almost as much as the front!!
