maine morning mitts and procrastination

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

This week has been super busy, which hasn't left much time for sewing. I'm trying to go with the flow, but sometimes that is easier than others! Last evening, desperate for a finish, I pulled out my mostly completed fingerless gloves and knit the thumbs. Knitting thumbs isn't my favorite (at all), thus the procrastination.
Even though the weather turned warm this week, (we had our first 70 degree day! hurray!) I'm a Minnesota girl, so I wouldn't be surprised if I still need these a time or two this season. It's just the way it is!
The pattern is called Maine Morning Mitts and it's available for free here. These were a stretch for me....because 1. I had to follow a pattern and 2. I had to make two objects that were close to the same size. They aren't perfect, by any means, but I am reasonably happy with the results. The mitts are so cozy! I'd definitely recommend the pattern and I will be trying them again.

I'd like to do a giveaway today! If you would like to win a handful of my PDF patterns, please leave me a comment in this post. In your comment, I'd love to hear about a project that you are procrastinating on and why, if you care to give the reason! It would be fun to hear all about it. :) I'll pick a winner on Monday.
Here's another one of my procrastination projects. I've decided it's time to clean up all the odds and ends around my craft room, so I'm going to make a orphan block quilt. I've been nervous to sew it up because there is no rhyme or reason, so fitting everything together might get a little dicey. I'm excited and nervous all at once. I just hope it doesn't end up looking like a hot mess. Haha! I guess we will see! :)

Now, it's your turn. Please link up your finishes for the week! Thank you, as always, for joining me for finish it up Friday!

  1. I just love those mittens!!! So cute!!! And your design wall is such a source of inspiration ;) I actually added my finish today of something that I have been procrastinating. Pattern writting just isn't near as fun as making the quilt ;)

  2. I love the Maine Morning Mitts pattern - they're so snuggly and perfect for keeping your hands warm when your fingers still need to move! My procrastination project was finally finished last week (the quilt top to my fishing net quilt) but I do have a second sock to do from a sock club that pre-dates my children - and my oldest is 5 1/2!! Oops. I love the idea of an orphan block quilt, it's going to be beautiful :)

  3. First of all, I LOVE the colour of your mitts; I'm knitting a cowl at the moment as being a southern Canadian gal (there is such a thing, check the north shore of Lake Erie and you'll find Essex County :-) anyhow, like fingerless mitts, I can see me needed a neck warmer a few more days yet!
    What yarn did you use?

As for procrastination, my daughter's graduation quilt, almost 1 year after the fact. Why I'm procrastinating? It scares me as it's the most intricate quilting I've ever done.

  4. I also live in MN! It's so nice out, I want to pack up the kids winter stuff, but know I should hold off on it. I have 2 quilt tops done and have been procrastinating on making the backs and quilting them. I think if I had a long arm they would be done by now!

  5. I have a soccer quilt top (stack and wack pattern) that I made for my son. I have finished it because he stopped playing soccer and it no longer suited him. I really need to finish it up and give it to charity - as I'm sure some little soccer player would be thrilled with it.

  6. I love your mittens. Here in Oregon we don't have many days to wear them. I have managed to put off making curtains for my kitchen for over a year now. That kind of sewing is not my idea of fun!

  7. love those gloves I have a pair that has half fingers on them and I use them off and on all year!

  8. I have a Queen sized quilt top that I am procrastinating on. I only need to complete the borders on it (one of them is a pieced border) but I'm just not happy with how the blocks turned out. I think it will be better once I get the borders on, but it still sits on the WIP pile.

  9. Great mittens! I'm working hard at keeping myself convinced not to take up knitting, lol. I'd love to knit some of the beautiful things I see others making, but I already don't have enough time for all the projects I want to do, so how could I add in a whole new category?! As for procrastinating...I don't think I'm procrastinating on anything right now, but I do have a few quilt tops that need batting and backing, but I'm putting off spending the money on them :)

  10. Very cute mittens! I finally quilted a quilt top I made 6 years ago last week. Guess I finally ran out of excuses. But now I have to bind it...

  11. Your mitten are so cute, love the color! I have a lonestar quilt in progress. It's not a project you can pick up for a little while, it's a commitment to work on one section and I need to find the time.

  12. I have a fingerless mitts procrastination project as well. Mine started out as socks - I'm ashamed to say that was more than three years ago! I decided I didn't like how the foot of the first sock turned out (probably why it got thrust into a cupboard and neglected, so I ripped back and turned it into the fingerless mitten. The second one was nearly finished about six months ago, and now the two are just languishing waiting for the thumbs. I don't mind knitting the thumbs - I think the reason that these aren't getting finished is that I've never really liked the yarn. The colors have pooled weirdly, and aren't very attractive colori-wise either. Not sure what I was thinking when I bought it. If I do finally get them finished, they have a date with a dye pot.

  13. Love the orphan block quilt. I vote for colorful strips to bring small blocks to size and connect everything. Maybe some of those Good Neighbor prints would work.

I am procrastinating doing the quilting on a twin sized quilt because I've had to rip out three times already, and now I'm afraid to start it.

The baby sweater I almost finished when my daughter was a baby... well, she will be graduating from nursing school soon. Maybe I'm procrastinating now until I can give it to a grandbaby.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Love the mitts! I decided to knit a sweater for my daughter for her 30th birthday. It had problems. It has been ripped out 2 times and now I started a different pattern. But I don't like the way the button holes are constructed. So it has been languishing for another 2 years while I decide whether to start over, yet again. Daughter is coming for a visit this summer and I would love to give it to her since her 39th birthday is coming up in December!

  15. I procrastinated for about a year over putting a quilt top together. The block was hole in the barn door and my blocks were far from perfect so I thought it would be a disaster and also that I'd probably have to rip some blocks apart and resew them. When I finally sewed them up, they fit pretty well and actually looked good (good enough for me, anyway). So now I have a nice little quilt top and backing done ready to be quilted and bound. So happy!

  16. going to try the mitts, they're a good carry along project.
I'm procrastinating on my Granddaughter's quilt. The front is done but I'm try to make a pieced back and I'm never satisfied with the outcome.

  17. Definitely going to be making a pair of those mitts for myself next winter!

I have a quilt that is all done and basted, but I just cant take the plunge with quilting it yet. I want to do swirls, I've never quilted swirls before and I'm scared to bodge the quilt!

I need quilt Dutch courage! Whaddya do when you're learning new quilting patterns but you need to take the plunge on a project?

  18. Quilts can sit in a pile for months, with the binding sewn on, just waiting for the binding to be completed. *sigh* And I love those blocks in the top right corner. I think a quilt with all the orphan blocks would be epic!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I started a pair of mittens this winter and I'm putting it off for the same reason you put off your mitts - the thumbs!

I think your sampler quilt will look good when it's done.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I need mittens like yours! I have a quilt top ready for borders, but can't decide how wide they should be. So far this decision has taken about five years!

  21. I have a "procrastination" project. I bought all the supplies to make a quilt for my granddaughter. The fabric is from the Dot-Dot-Dash collection by Me & My Sister by Moda. Such a beautiful and fun line. I am petrified I will mess it up, so I haven't made the first cut.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I procrastinate on quilting my tops, lucky for me my best friend has a long arm and has quilted quite a few tops for me.

  23. I'm with Melissa, pattern writing is not as fun as the design and making process. Forcing myself to sit down and do it today.

  24. I'm procrastinating on an epp quilt made out of my grandparents' clothes. I dont know what interfacing or stabilizer I need and I dont want to start cutting stuff apart without a clear direction.

  25. I love the color palette of your design wall. At least your orphan blocks all seem happy together! I'm procrastinating on making a project for a book review. I like the book, I just have other projects that I'd rather be doing! Julie@TheCraftyQuilter.com

    ReplyDelete
  26. All your orphan blocks coordinate so well. I think one reason I love your blog and book is because you seem to have found *your* palette. And it's all on your design wall. So cute!

I have procrastinated finishing a few quilts because of fear that they won't turn out perfect. The second project I ever tried was a king size quilt that I pieced 12 years ago (I was a VERY ambitious beginner). I had to special order a bat for it at that time. It is just so huge for me to contemplate basting, quilting, binding and finishing it. But just writing this has helped me acknowledge that it is a pretty dumb reason not to try. I KNOW I'll never get better without practice, and I can't get to perfect (or even pretty good) without a lot of it, so thanks for the thought-provoking question. In looking at all the gorgeous work you (and your links) share, I do sometimes remind myself that we all start at the beginning and progress is sometimes slow. But I will be more steady now. I appreciate the inspiring post. And the link for the cute mittens!

  27. I am procrastinating on a string scrap quilt, mostly because I'm afraid it will look more like a "dog blanket" when it's done. Guess it doesn't matter as long as I love it!

  28. I think your orphan block quilt will be amazing. I have two quilt tops I have put off quilting for far too long. I love the tops and am afraid I will mess them up with the quilting. jsbailey99 at gmail.com

  30. I have tried to knit but find i can't remember if i've knit or purled. i procrastinate on quilting my tops, i don't know what pattern to choose and i don't want to mess up all that work i just put into them. I also am procrastinating on finishing up a twin size lil' twister quilt.

  31. I have several crochet projects that need to be sewn together and I'm procrastinating for that reason. I love the look of granny squares but hate assembling them. I have an afghan and 2 purses to do. UGH!!

  32. I love this idea! And I love random scrap quilts:) If you really want to impose order, you have a lot of pieces to anchor an improv row along :) I am procrastinating on color-graded 9 patches: it wants metallic gold thread. Not my specialty by machine:)

  33. I had been procrastinating in finishing up my "Amish with a Twist" quilt because I just couldn't face the applique on the border. Well, I got one of four panels done, and now I'm on forced procrastination while I heal from rotator cuff surgery. As it's turning out, the healing process means I have more time to read blogs and magazines and add to the never-ending list of 'someday' projects! I'd love to add a couple of your patterns to my list! : )

  34. Love the mitts!!! I should try them but I am not experienced at all and to get two the same size...yikes!

I am procrastinating about so many projects, I have a strings piece that is not wowing me on my wall so I stopped to make the the charity quilt I posted today. I have a challenge piece that I just ordered fabric for but I am uninspired and I have a combo piece that I started a while ago that is epp and then applique it onto a bigger modern background. Not inspired. sigh.....

  35. Hello Amanda!
I am procrastinating on quilting my latest quilt, why you ask?, because I have so many things going on right now it is just hard to dedicate the time to finish it up! I am looking forward to finishing it, maybe if I put just a couple hours aside this weekend it will motivate me to keep working on it!
Thanks for the chance to win some great patterns!

  36. Great looking mittens! Too bad they are still needed. We woke to a snow and ice storm this morning. Not sure when spring is going to arrive.

  37. I love the color of the mittens. The project that I have procrastinated on is quilting on a wedding quilt. I hope to finish it in May as I have taken a long arm certification class recently, and I find long arm quilting a whole lot easier than quilting on my domestic machine. I'm excited to get it done!

  38. What don't I procrastinate on? I have a double wedding ring quilt for my sister that I started when she got married. Her oldest child is 21 yrs old. Yeah, it has been a WIP for a while. Your bits and pieces quilt is going to be fabulous. Any woman who has made two scrap vortex quilts should not fear this. I can't wait to see it.

  39. I think the orphan block quilt will be great!! I'm procrastinating on basting a vintage star quilt that will hang in my living room. I'll have to move furniture to have room to baste it, then there's the issue of a curly headed two year old and hundreds of safety pins!

  42. Love the mittens!! I had a quilt sandwiched and ready to quilt. Well, my cat decided to pee on it! I took it apart and soaked the top. That was 2 years ago and I still haven´t sandwiched it for another try.

Love the mittens. I have a rather large pile at the moment waiting to be finished - but the one I am procrastinating over is my "Mrs Billings" - it has been languishing because I decided I really don't like cutting things out using templates then hand-piecing them ......

  45. I'm stuck in limbo on a slab-type quilt that I'm making for my office at work. I'm an editor who works with a lot of accountants, so I thought it would be fun to combine text and number prints in this quilt. I'm having trouble letting the blocks come together naturally - which is strange, because I've made slab blocks before. It'll come together someday, one way or another!

  51. I have two "pet" (read perpetual) procrastinations (is that a word?). I started a knitting project two years ago because I thought I could easily knit beads into a shawl. How hard could it be? Hard. So there it sits. The biggie, though is dusting. I hate to dust AND it takes valuable minutes away from quilting. Floors are squeaky clean, bathroom is squeaky clean, laundry is done, but there is a layer of dust every where except in my sewing room. There. Dirty little secret is out!

  52. Probably my oldest WIP is a quilt made from blocks in a swap when my husband was in his residency. I still need to design a few blocks & then finish it. I hit a roadblock and need to get back to it. I love your candor and your insight as well as your generosity. TGIF

  59. I made a pattern for a pair of shorts, maybe 5 years ago. I have fabric to make at least 2 pair, also bought a long while ago. The excuse I've told myself for years for not moving ahead on this project, is that I need to purchase nylon twill tape for the incorporated belt and haven't found a supplier. I realized today that I haven't forged ahead because there are skills that I haven't ever used in this project (crotch gusset, flat felled seams and now I'm not sure the shorts will still fit....I'd have to do a muslin) that keep me from moving ahead.
So instead, I am cutting out a shirt for my husband today! I've made 6 or 7 shirts over the years and I only have to concentrate on a few known skills.
Love your Maine mitts! That goal is a wonderful way to keep those finishes happening!

Your orphan block patchwork is brilliant - in a way it's just what a patchwork quilt should be. Your mittens are also brilliant and I love the colour. I don't have many UFOs - I'm very strict with myself and am determined to finish a quilt once I start it. There is, however, one exception and I stitched the patchwork about 4 years ago. I called it 'Snow on the Roof' as it's a melody of reds and whites like roof tiles in the snow. I love the patchwork, so it's not that - I just don't know why it's not been quilted. Maybe now that I've written about it, I'll make that step and get it out again from its box. Here goes - maybe it'll be next Friday's FiuF quilt!

  62. The thing I have been procrastinating is making a denim slipcover for my loveseat. It has been long enough now that there is actual foam showing thru the tears in the fabric. It's time. I even have had the fabric for at least 2 years.

Cute mitts. I need to finish some knitted socks too. There is definitely more than one procrastination project at my house.

  63. I made a huge top for my king size bed, got one piece of of edging on and have had the other sitting on my sewing table for about a year! It's just so much fabric, I feel like I'm drowning in it when I'm sewing. Oh well, maybe this year!

  64. I love everything you do, it seems! I procrastinate on binding quilts. I have two that I got back from the quilter over a month ago, & can't seem to finish them! Instead, I start other quilts, including one of your scrap vortex quilts that I'm sewing for stress relief when I'm tired of thinking about my current project. You'd think I'd want a finished project once in a while, wouldn't you? Anyway, thanks for the motivation!

So, I would love to win some of your patterns since I need another project!! LOL Thank you so much!

  82. I am totally avoiding basting the massive king size quilt for my bed. I have no hard floors or tables anywhere close to big enough, so it's going to be arduous! It'll only be my third quilt, too, and the other 2 were much more reasonably sized!

  83. I did not use to procrastinate, but my husband is amazing at it and slowly I have picked it up!!! Sigh. I hear that how to fix it is make a huge list with a less important thing at the top. Tell yourself you have to start from the top. Guess what, all the other things on the list will get done except that first one - well this is what a psychologist put in our local paper!!! Trick for your glove knitting. Knit them both at the same time. Then what ever size they are they will at least turn out the same. So start with two sets of stitches and two balls of wool on the needle and when you do a row, you are doing two rows. karen.schulz@paradise.net.nz

  87. I love the mittens. I am procrastinating on a quilt at the moment as the quilting is a little tedious (just 1/2" circles).

  88. I quilt all the time, usually with two quilts going at the same time. I keep looking at a quilt pattern I have that is an all over scene. Everytime I think I'll start it, I put the pattern back, thinking it is too difficult. I am quilting a Catheral Window quilt and your Pineapple quilt. I love to quilt!

  95. Hi Amanda, Love the mitts! I am procrastinating about quilting a top which has been finished for a few months. I knew exactly how I wanted to quilt it. but When I worked out how many inches of quilting that would be I backed off as I was intimidated by the thought. I'm hoping that with brighter days and warmer weather I will be able to go back and get it quilted. I really need to free up those basting pins!

  96. Love the orphan quilt idea!

Being new to quilting I've not got anything that I'm procrastinating with yet but I do have 101 ideas that I'm itching to get started on! I'm just waiting for my youngest to start pre-school in a couple of weeks and I'll have the spare time to sit down and get started :)

As for other sewing projects I've got two sun hats waiting in the wings and have be for weeks! ;)

  97. Procrastination is my middle name! And with the amount of UFOs I have, the harder it is to choose which one to work on. I got to the stage where I was so overwhelmed, I didn't touch any of them!
Then I came up with a cunning plan. Listed 6 of them (I've got heaps more than 6), then every Monday morning roll a dice and what ever number comes up, that's the one I work on for the week. The following week, I roll the dice again, and so on.
I've found I'm now looking forward to Mondays, doing a lot more sewing, and hopefully will finally see the end to some of these UFOs. They are all at different stages, some need a lot of sewing, others just need finishing off. And once one gets ticked off the list, I will replace it with another.
Would love the chance to win your patterns - love your blog, you are an inspiration to us all, and love catching up with all your readers on Finish it up Friday.

  98. I'm procrastinating on two things, a sampler quilt which was the first quilt I ever made (in the late 1990s). The blocks are done and put together, but I just can't seem to get myself moving on borders. The second project is my dear Jane quilt. I have about 45 blocks to go and maybe half of the triangles. It is the second quilt I started again in the late1990s. Please give me the boot in the rear I need to get going on these two things and finally get them done!

  99. I love that you decided to finish your mitts. I have a quilt top that is almost done, well except for the appliquéing that needs to go on top of the piecing. I won't even say how old this project is. I really need to pull it out as I think I'll love it when it's done. Maybe I should just fuse that appliqué down.

  100. Love your mitts. Since moving to FL. I haven't had the urge or need to make mitts or scarves but I still do socks. My procrastination project is a sock. My problem is that I need a chunk of time and a lot of quiet when I turn a heel. Finding time and quiet at the same time I feel like knitting doesn't happen all that often. Generally once I turn the heel I finish the sock and start the second within days and then come to a screeching halt as I near the second heal.

  104. My procrastination problem? Easy the last detail of every quilt: the label. I don't know why except that maybe I think of the quilt as finished once the binding is on. I've been trying to do better, but coming up with a name is not all always easy.
Your gloves are really nice, I'd bet they're also very warm and comfy, but the design board is WOW! nice! I love the colors! They look great together...can't wait to seek the finished product!

I love the mittens! I will give these a try for sure :). I procrastinate on so many projects - usually because something has gone wrong or not worked quite the way I thought it would. I shouldn't allow myself to get stalled, but I often do - maybe this is a chance to revisit some of those projects!

  124. I used to work in my local yarn shop, and I had a customer that had several grand daughters. She knit each one of them a pair of mittens, except she wouldn't work the thumbs---she would complete the mitten except for the thumbs, and then bring them in for me to finish. While I knit the thumbs, she would work on another pair. Anyway, I have a backpack that I need to finish. The inside seams are finished with bias tape, and it has me a bit intimidated. I also have a Buggy Barn quilt laying on my sewing table. It has something like 1800 pieces, and I have gotten them all mixed up and I'm not sure which of the pieces belong to each block or where they go. I do love the quilt, so I will finish it, but I may have to recut some of the pieces.

  125. I've been procrastinating on a couple baby quilts... And the due dates are coming quickly! I just moved a couple months ago and the sewing room is the last to get organized... It's stressing me out and caused a sewing rut but one of these days I'll power up the machine again!

  126. I have developed a new method of dealing with procrastination. When I come upon a project that I have left for awhile,I look at it for awhile. Then I ask myself, "Does this give me joy?"- the question Marie Kondo recommends that we ask about all of our belongings. If the answer is "no", I will find a good home for the project. Most recently, I came upon 33 blocks I had made. I needed only a few more before I could assemble it them into a lap quilt. But there was no joy. My guild was having a sale of quilting things, so off they went- put into a bag, with a reasonable price, and the belief that they will bring someone else joy. And a load of guilt for not finishing the project disappeared.

  139. Hi I finished a quilt top some weeks back, but don't love it. I can't bring myself to wrestle with quilting it. It has some of my favourite fabrics in it, but is a simple snowball quilt with the snowballs all different sizes. I think the trouble is that the larger snowballs are too big, now that I'm leaning more towards scrappy projects. At the moment I am thinking that it might become the backing for another quilt. Plus it was intended for my son, but my husband commented that it was a bit girly - it's lots of greens & blues with some reds. Hmmm

  140. Congrats on doing your THUMBS! I love to make bed-sized quilts, but with arthritis it is a major effort to machine quilt them after the tops are done. I have devised my own quilt as you go techniques, but it is nevertheless a huge undertaking -- so I procastinate.

  157. A better question would be "what am I NOT procrastinating about if up?" I wish I could say I procrastinate because I don't want to see a project end, but in truth, it is because I am fickle and easily distracted and once I see the pattern emerge, I often lose interest.

I'm procrastinating on getting the last of the free motion quilting done on a queen sized quilt that's been in the works for over a year. And I've had the supplies for it since Aug 2014. I want the quilting to be perfect, so I've been dragging my feet. Instead of finishing it, I've been starting more projects and taking on quilting jobs for friends. 182. I love the color of those mitts! So adorable. I have one ufo that I started based on a quilt you did from a blog hop. Ran out of my background color a couple years ago and I just can't seem to get back to it. Too many other patterns keep catching my eye.

  184. Love the mittens! I have a quilt top, batting and backing laying over the rails of my longarm because I have absolutely no idea how to quilt it! I just need to load it and go!

  185. I am trying to finish up a UFO myself, but I'm also putting off work on the commission T shirt quilt I have on the wall. Bummer. I have to ... I have to...

  186. Those mittens are so comfy looking-and cute! I have a huge list of projects I need to just bite the bullet and get them done-I tend to like the process of making a quilt top best-then move on before I get it quilted! I am hoping to get several big quilts quilted in the next couple months-however I think I have decided to hand quilt two of them, so now it may be a much longer project!

  187. Your mitts are lovely. I understand procrastinating on projects. Sometimes it's just a matter of letting your brain "chew" on the perceived problem for awhile. I know it took me about 4 months to complete an applique logo on a quilt I started last year. In the end, when I was ready, it turned out fabulous.

  188. Your mittens look fantastic! I love the colour.
My procrastination at the moment is much like your own. I've got a heap of random blocks that I made last year. Although I had the plan to make a quilt out of them and the fore thought to use the same background fabric on nearly all of them. They are all pretty much different sizes 😩. Which makes it very tricky to work out where to place them and what to add to make it work. At the moment I'm sewing up some flying geese to add to add some width or height to some of the blocks. I'm actually using a different background fabric on the geese to break it up a bit, as I'm running low on the other one and I think it needed a bit of randomness.
Good lucky on putting yours together. I hope hope you get some inspiration soon.

  189. I have all the prints cut for the Pride eagle pattern, but still need to cut the background. I've been procrastinating because there are SO MANY small pieces in this pattern and I'm pretty sure none of my seams are going to be straight and/or aligned. I'm always more motivated when the pattern pieces are bigger because I feel like I accomplish so much more, so much faster. Love your blog and all your work.

  190. Procrastinating on a baby quilt. Baby born last August- he is the ninth cousin and every other one, had a quilt waiting well before they were born. I moved houses the day he was born... It was February when I showed his mom my fabrics and design... The top was done in March, but now I need cataract surgery...

  191. Love the mitts. Way to go for getting them finished !
If anyone can make a quilt from your orphan blocks, it is YOU, Amanda. I think the blocks on your design wall will work great together. Well, most of them will work and those left over are starters for a project yet to come. You've got it 😃

  192. I am postponing making more bags with washed burlap coffee bags-- they are looking great but burlap and sewing machines are not good companions! I have a relative who roasts coffee and she gives me the bags. It has been a fun partnership so far, not to mention being "paid" with amazing coffee (Parry Roasters)

  193. A wedding Quilt.... I have been fighting it for Months and just walked away from it a couple of weeks ago. I might have crossed over from procrastinating to Scrap It!

  194. If your design wall was my design wall I would be excited. No laundry would be done until I had the quilt layed out. But then to sew it together would be another story. I have so many WIPS I don't know where to start. To my shame it is over 25. I think I am the queen of WIPS. I get excited about a new pattern and want to do it and leave the other unfinished. But when I do get a project finished, oh, what a good feeling that is. I have set aside a week once ever 2 months to work on WIPS. So far so good. I can not do anything else that week. Some are getting done.

  195. I am 98% done with a cross stitch but just can't seem to get the final border done. And I know all I have left is about one hour of stitching!! I doubt if anything you make could EVER look like a hot mess! Have a great weekend, Amanda Jean....

  196. I have a beautiful quilt that I made as a block of the month project at my local quilt store. I do not like appliqué! And there are a lot of appliquéd vines and leaves to complete this project. So even though I love the quilt, and love the colors, it's been sitting unfinished for about two years :-(

  197. Nice mitts! I have an unfinished pair of knitted socks, just don't want to turn that heel! I have lots of orphan blocks, however they are all so different color and value wise.... Yours looks like it has a theme, can't wait to see it morph into a quilt!

  198. Amanda Jean, I'm a knitting procrastinator; ,I have the sock yarn, needles and tutorial for your socks but haven't started 'em , probably bc it's easier to buy socks and warm up my cold toes quickly. The pattern scares me a bit too, but once I get the cast on done I'm sure I'll keep on , insanely intense on getting thru one pair:)
Procrastinating on a HST quilt that I cut, but despise the background color I chose, which means there's 3 yards just looking for a new project. Thanks for sharing the gloves...great wrist warmers for those tired quilting hands.

  199. I love your patterns!!! It seems like I procrastinate on all my projects, though I like to think that I'm just too busy and can't get to them:) Right now I'm specifically procrastinating on a yoga mat tote and matching clip-on pouch for cell phone, keys, etc.

  200. I have a couple of things I'm putting off--quilting a quilt for my grandson and beginning a new art quilt. I had my grandson's quilt basted by a long arm quilter, and the basting stitches are HUGE and only in one directions. They catch on everything and pucker the quilt when they do. I have to re-baste it after spending $40 to have it basted. I just don't want to. As for the art quilt...I just haven't figured out yet how I'm going to do it. I guess that is part of the fun.
