This week I recovered my ironing board. My old one was nasty and I decided that enough was enough. I used this tutorial and the other half of the fabric leftover from making the original one last September. I bought a new cover or two since then and used them, but they never fit quite right...so going back to making my own was a good option!
The week wouldn't be complete without a few new pincushions, right?! These are quilt-as-you-go log cabins that finish at about 4". I LOVE the tiny pieces and I had so much fun making them! They are scrap project #108.
That is one low-calorie bowl full of happy, wouldn't you say?
Now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thank you, as always, for joining me for finish it up Friday! Have a great weekend!
That is a really happy-looking bowl! And I love your ironing board fabric, too. Have a great weekend!
Very cute! I am planning to recover mine this weekend as the fabric is starting to shred on me!
That is perfect ironing board fabric, I love it, and your pincushion bowl is adorable!
Cute little cushions!!Number #108 - that is impressive. Love your ironing board cover - fresh and pretty!
Love that bowl of pin cushions, and a new ironing board cover feels like a fesh start!
Your new ironing board cover is so fresh and cute, it must feel so good to walk into your space. I have avoided thinking about how dirty mine has become, so I think I will go check out that tutorial.
Tell me doesn't the batting melt when you iron cottons? It looks like in your tutorial that you are using polyester batting--I would think the hot heat of cotton iron would melt polyester. Or are you using bleached cotton batting? I would really like to do this--my ironing board cover is gross.
My ironing board cover needs replacing too.Time for me to dig through my stash and find something fresh and fun. This might be a good weekend project. Thanks!
I know what you mean about how the fresh cover makes the room feel. I did mine and it now matches the window treatment - the whole room feels pulled together even though it is a mess of scraps at the moment! Love the pincushions :-)
low-calorie, but high fiber! (I couldn't resist!)
It must be something in the fall air... I've been thinking that mine needs a fresh new cover too. I love the fabric you used on yours. And those pincushions are adorable. Thanks for hosting again this week. I love seeing what everyone has accomplished.
I never tire of seeing your sweet pin cushions in the bowl. It's my main reason for wanting lots more pin cushions.
I love the cute freshness of your new ironing board cover :) Your bowl of pin just makes me drool. What a great idea!
Happy Friday Amanda!! Cute ironing board cover. QAYG pin cushions are so fun. Nice seeing your bowl contents grow.
So funny how the brain works. I read that you "rediscovered" your ironing board. Lol. As if it ever gets lost. :)
What a nice fresh ironing board cover! I keep thinking about redoing mine, I think I'll look at that tutorial!
Happy Friday Amanda Jean...I'm in need of a new ironing board cover too...love yours, so clean and fresh!! I was hoping to wait until we moved but seeing yours I may give in and do it. Life is pretty hectic.
I can tell it again and again; Your pincushions are just darling.
I'm going to check out that tutorial, too. I just bought (and had to return) a new cover and no matter how much I pulled on it, I just couldn't get it to fit, plus it was too short on the sides, a fact which several Amazon reviewers had mentioned. So I guess the next step is making my own. Thanks for the incentive. Yours is really cute.
I don't have a finish. Worked on Tshirts this week. But I'm visiting your party.
I'd love you to come over and link the party at The Fabulous Fall party. I changes every Monday so you can link the party every week.
I'll be back in the sewing/quilting room this week!
Have a great weekend.
a lovely cover, today I am buying a new ironing board, have seen one reduced that is quite a bit bigger than mine that will making ironing less of a chore! Pin cushions looking good must try a log cabin one myself
You found the perfect fabric for the ironing board and your right you bowl of pin cushions are so happy! I just love your Friday posts, it allows me to see so many wonderful projects, Thank you.
What perfect fabric for your ironing board! It has a wonderful vintage/modern vibe going on. The strawberries will carry you through the winter with a reminder of summer :)
I love my homemade ironing board covers. I use about 5 layers of warm and natural as I like a soft board. I use very muted fabric for the covers so it doesn't show through when I am ironing.
