we're doing it!

We started moving over the weekend! This is the view from my new sewing space. I can't believe it!

Our phase of the weekend was "we're doing it!" Every time the reality of our situation sunk in, that was the phrase that came out of our mouths. It kept us chuckling, which is a good thing. Moving is a lot like work!

It was the kids' first day at their new school today. Lots of nerves for them this morning, but we left them in good hands. All went well, which is a huge relief!

My sewing space is pretty much a blank slate. I brought a limited amount of sewing stuff up here (so far), which means I have a limited amount of projects to tackle. It keeps that overwhelming feeling at bay. I'll take it!
At one point my husband said, "home is where the sewing machines are." It's true!!! He's smart, that guy! And funny, too!

I'm so glad I brought my bohemian garden quilt along. It was a last minute decision, but it was a good one. It's been wonderful to sit down and quilt something! I'm anxious for a finish.
The loops are looking so much better than the straight lines did. And the good news is, I didn't have to re-baste. Bonus!!!
We spent lots of time over the weekend exploring the yard and enjoying our new lake view. I have a feeling that we are going to love it here!

Happy Monday to you!

Which lake is that??? It's a gorgeous view and will be more beautiful as the warmer weather descends. Beautiful quilt and the loopy quilting is so soft and perfect! Hugs and Congrats on the new "digs"! Doreen

  2. What a view! Makes me homesick (ex-Edmontonian here). We just moved too, it's a pretty full-on experience and I'm hoping not to do it again for a very long time!

  18. Speaking from experience, I have to say that the yard/area is almost more important than the dwelling. I want to be outside ALL the time on this double lot where our home is.

    You're very blessed........enjoy !

  36. Congratulations on all the epic changes in your life - all good! Remember I told you I couldn't believe how much where I live affected my life? You may find the same - although you have moved many more time than I have - and moving with kids is so different. Hope they all connected with someone today.

  42. Good luck on the unpacking. It is such a chore to find the proper place for everything and then in a few months deciding you must move it to a better place. What a fantastic view from your sewing room window. Good luck in your new home and may it bring you joy.

  45. Oh you lucky girl -- it looks like a beautiful view! You're too funny -- whaddya mean "Moving is a lot like work!" -- it IS work!

P.S. Are you going to market?

  46. Looks like a lake I know and love, but in a state with this many, it looks like a lot of them. I looked close to see if I could see a Bible Camp on its shores. :)

Blessings on your new home and this time of transition in your life. So glad you will have so much more time with your husband as a result!

  49. Wow! My window view from my machine is one where I see the eating table, the dining room and most of the yard...it's sunny and quite handy for minding the kids while I work, but I think I might would trade it for a lake view!!!
I'm seeing a colorful window treatment up there and some huge shelving to incase either side of the window space..."nook-like" and cozy! Enjoy!
