I've been thinking....
...having plenty of batting and white Kona in my sewing room is much like having a well stocked flour and sugar supply in the kitchen. I love having a well stocked pantry. A well stocked sewing room could possibly be even better. :)
Boy am I with you on that one! Nothing makes it more enticing than having everything ready to go :-)
I completely agree! However, I don't have flour or sugar in my kitchen. Food allergies to both.
I have a roll of batting hung up like a roll of paper towels. Best decision ever.
Your analogy is perfect.
Love that comparison :) Cookies and quilts - home essentials, ingredients should always be on hand!
Oh yes, I totally agree!
Looks like somebody shopped JoAnn over Black Friday weekend. I got several yards of Kona white myself!
I so agree...I buy background fabric by the bolt, and when my bolt starts getting low I start to panic...time to order a new one before I use up the old one!
Agreed! I usually throw on a few yards of Kona Snow with each order so I always have plenty in stock. I'm out of batting! I don't even have enough scraps to piece together for a table runner - yikes, that is totally like being out of flour!!!
Totally!!! : )
Hope you got that deal on batting at Joann's the other day!
Those are 2 must haves though---you are correct!
If I don't have spare batting ready, I panic a little. Your analogy is perfect.
Love it! I think you are more likely to finish projects if you have what you need on hand
You crack me up...but I TOTALLY agree!!
You ain't kiddin' !
The other pantry is making me fat.......no such problem with my quilting; in fact, sometimes it's about the only exercise I do !
Totally!! I got a big bulk batting last New Year sale at Joann's. It is hard to get out from the box when I need it, but boy I have been saving time running to get batting...
Amen to that! I recently ran out of sugar and it took me weeks to notice, grey (rather than white), however, I recently stocked up on.
I am so impressed!! And envious.
I sooooo agree! I split a roll of warm & natural with someone once, and for the longest time whenever I needed some, I didn't have to look any farther than my closet. I miss that convenince now that it is used up, and have been thinking about buying a full roll for myself this time :)
I bought a roll of batting last year at JoAnn's for Black Friday, and somehow it's still not used up. Maybe because I got a roll of polyester too? It is so nice to have it on hand when it's so cheap!
Always have yards of white, snow, black and gray...oh and orange!
I so agree! There's a few basics that I just can't function without - a roll of batting, kona white, ash, coal, espresso... just the basics, you know!
Ahaa, its nice dialogue regarding this paragraph at this place at this blog, I have read all that, so at this time me also commenting here.
Street Light Poles
Absolutely! And it sounds from your last sentence that you are considering adding even more staples to your stock.
Yummy to both
AMEN to a stash of batting!!! I currently have 5 30yard rolls...hehehe! I panic when I cut a 3 yard piece off - think I need to order more just in case I start to run out!
My sewing room is definitely better stocked than my pantry. Just purchased a whole box of batting...
Absolutely! I'm hoping to buy a bolt of tea-dyed muslin this afternoon. I'd rather have the muslin and batting than sugar and flour, since those are a lot easier to come by.
And I'm not running out of sugar anytime soon -- we've got fifty some pounds in the kitchen for the bees. I can always pilfer some from their stash!
Well stocked is always a good plan. I just never know where to put the roll.
P.S. For a split second, I thought you were going to do a post about Staples, Minnesota. Mark's cousin lives there. Yeah, and then I had my coffee...
You could be on dooms day prepers. Tell them you are preparing quilting style.
There are few things nicer than squishing and smooshing a new roll of wadding. All that soft usable fluffiness!
We own a catering business, so I doubt my quilting stock will ever outgrow our food invitory. But having the basic stuff sure is handy! We don't live near a JoAnn's, which is probably a good thing. With the many good sales I hear about, I'd be in trouble often!
I have been wanting a bolt of kona white. I should've asked for it for Christmas....hmmmmm.....
Love the comparison :) Although I think my sewing room is better stocked than my pantry :)
YES! Just what I need! I am always running out of batting!
I bought ten yards of batting last week. :) Now if I had the energy and time to sew.
Just wondering what your favorite batting of choice is at the moment? I've always loved warm & natural, but recently I tried out the newer bamboo batting. It was pretty great. What do you think? (my batting is running precariously low and I'm trying to decide my next purchase)
I' ll take a sewing room over a pantry any day!!
Where do you find the best place to buy is?
