Last week I read this post, and I totally fell in love with the wrapping paper. Thanks to Anna I now have a few rolls of my own to hoard use. It took some determination, but I held back from buying the whole box at Target last night. I'm dubbing this my "Camille wrapping paper", because I can't see red and white polka dots without thinking of her, for some reason. :)
Also, after some gentle urging from several people, I have started a crazymomquilts flickr group. It's a place to share your photos of things you've made from my tutorials, patterns, quilt alongs or classes I've taught. I can't wait to see what you share there!
And the last thing for today...after all the finishing I've been doing, I started something new today. A 30's quilt. SO not appropriate for this time of year, but I woke up with an idea and I just jumped in before I could talk myself out if it. It's pretty fun to have a new project to work on! Plus, it's a great distraction from the messy kitchen I should be taking care of...

Oh, sewing always trumps clean-up. Nobody is going to remember the cleaning we did or didn't do, but they will cherish a homemade quilt you spent hours, days, weeks, makind it just for them.

Ohhh, it's a perfect time of year to make a 30's print project! Just think, when spring rolls around you'll already have something seasonal made. :)
ReplyDeleteMy mother says only boring women have immaculate homes. Of course, this is the same woman who wouldn't turn loose of me on Saturday mornings growing up until the house was clean...go figure! Better yet, go quilt!!

ReplyDeleteI'm happy to see that I'm not the only one planning a 30's quilt. I have been slowly buying Aunt Grace's Circle of Friends fabric to start with. I have 2 blocks in mind, and may use both of them! Good luck with yours.

ReplyDeleteYeah, I jumped into and finished a new project a week or so ago and ignored everything else that I should have been doing. I guess that is what happens when the inspiration comes with a bang.

I have some of that 30's fabric in my stash and have been itching to use it. Now I know what kind of diamond pillow I'm making with my (your) new pattern :) One daughter will be very delighted to get pillows for Christmas that match a quilt she has had for years. I have SO much of that style and had wanted to do something so I just settled on using the Turning Twenty pattern just to get to use some of it. Boring but thought it might satisfy my urge to use the material. NOW I am going to wait and see what you do with yours. LOL

Hey Amanda Jean, you have just lifted Target Australia's revenue! We have polka dot too but slightly different. I had to go to 2 different stores to find after talking myself out of it 2 weeks ago....there's a psychology 'v' economics essay there somewhere! Thanks for the tip and have a wonderful Christmas!

ReplyDeleteHobby Lobby has that red and white dotted paper too. As do I. :) I love it. HL also has tons of other red and white papers for Christmas but most of them would work any time.
