36 patch quilt along, week 6

Welcome to week 6 of the 36 patch quilt along! We had a CRAZY weekend here. My husband hosted a groom's shower/cookout on Friday night, and I had a garage sale on Saturday...both at our house. The garage AND the house needed to be cleaned for the weekend. What poor planning THAT was! We cleaned for hours upon hours, days upon days. Never again will we attempt that in one weekend again. But it's all over now, and I was thrilled to wake up and have time to sew this morning. Hurray!

I had made a few blocks earlier in the week (I don't know when I had the time!), and I finished the final 5 this morning....so here are my last 7 blocks for the quilt along. Yippee! I can hardly wait to start playing with layouts!
Next week I plan to give brief assembly instructions for the quilt top and that will wrap up our QAL. I'd like to thank all of you who are quilting along with me! I've really enjoyed it and I have heard from MANY of you that you have enjoyed it, too. So glad to hear it! Please remember to add your photos to the flickr group so we can all see what you are making.

Happy Monday to you!

Love this quilt along. I have inherited all my mother's scrap fabric from over 40 years of dressmaking. I might have to give this a go to get rid of some of the stash.

whoa! Am I that far behind? Oh, well. I'm still gonna keep on keepin on! I need to make up my mind on which size I want. It was a square throw when we started but I like it so much it just might turn into a queen. Can't wait to see what yours will like.

Spent the weekend quilting mine - binding up next - excited to see others come together, too! Thanks again for the inspiration!

I got side tracked with some other projects -- but I'm itching to get back to these!

All my blocks are done and I have them all laid out the way I want them. I had enough pieces from the blocks to make 11 scrappy ones for the back.

holy moly - lol - haven't made many but am going to keep plugging along when I have time. Thanks again - love making the blocks.

Sounds like an overbooked weekend. Good thing I didn't come over, too. :)

I'm still plugging away on my blocks. I've got 7 done, 2 ready to start sewing up and one more ready to be cut. Thankfully I'm only making the throw! This is my first QAL and only my third quilt top, and I've definitely seen improvement in my cutting and piecing accuracy! Thanks Amanda Jean for hosting this!

Top is done -- backing is done -- binding is ready -- but I'm dragging my feet on quilting. The back has to line up perfectly with the front and I've never put myself in that position before. Even though I pin baste heavily, I usually have a little slipage. Any tips for this? I may spray baste AND pin.

Beautiful! So glad to see you are ahead of me. I need inspiration for the backing. But I am also glad to see that I am only 6 blocks behind. I too cannot wait to start playing with arranging them. Here is my collection of this week's blocks:

Hi there! I love the progress you made despite your wicked busy weekend. I know just how good it felt for you to sew today. I had so many errands to run but I squeezed in 5 finished blocks. I have many more to do to make my 36 complete but I'm enjoying the process.

Are those little gnomes married with the black and white? It's cute!

I came along too late to join the quilt-along, but I am really enjoying the pics of the 36 patches!

Amanda Jean. You rock! You know I think that of you! I haven't had an iota of time to devote to this but am so excited to see your blocks and so look forward to seeing the rest as it comes together. I LOVE this project and know of many pieces of fabrics that I would love to use. I will start compiling my fabrics, already have the basket! I am so glad we can join in at any time! Just three more weeks till the kids go back to school and some sort of 'normalcy' will come trotting back in my life! All the best!

Oooh, I can't wait to see your finished quilt. I loved the 9-patch so much, and this quilt is another winner! I hope the garage sale was a big success 'cause you know. Garage sale = extra cash = children!!!! LOL!

I'm sewing along, but have not joined. I just took pictures of my 23 blocks yesterday and I hope to post them today . . . I'm having so much fun and FINALLY, my 10 year old daughter is interested! Laura

I have 21 out of 36 completed. That is an amazing record for me at this point in a quilt-along (because normally I haven't even STARTED yet...). These are fun blocks to make. I better get crackin' so I can come close to finishing on time!

I had to stop this. The blocks were too busy and really giving me anxiety attacks. Since quilting is supposed to be FUN, I stopped. I am going to sash the few I did and use them for placemats. I THINK I can handle them for that!

I will check back for another that isn't so busy. You always do nice work. Thanks for letting us play along.

Your blocks are great, and like you I am enjoying the quilt along. I still have 5 blocks to do, but it may be a week or so before I get to it, I have some to finish that have recipients lined up. Can't wait to start seeing the finishes.
