i wish i could dress this cute!

I'm making my peace with the fact that my "to do" list is hopeless. Completely hopeless. You see, I'm not the only one who adds to it. My husband regularly says, "You know what you need to make?...." Then he rattles off one of his great ideas. I know I shouldn't complain...inspiration overload sure beats twiddling my thumbs. That's what I try to tell myself anyway.

This project was my husband's brain child. Last winter I was knitting a striped hat, and he thought it would make a great skirt for our daughter. I don't know if that means I have a big head or if I have a little daughter, or both! It wasn't long before I headed to the yarn shop to pick out some yarn. What a hardship, I know, but someone had to do it. ;) Actually, having your husband dream up the projects is a great license to go to the yarn shop and spend some money without any complaint on his part. It's wonderful!

I knit like I quilt...mostly without a pattern. I wasn't sure that this would work, but hurrah! It did! And on the first shot, no less. I'm (more than) a little surprised. :) Too bad it wouldn't be cute in my size...

Happy Monday to you!

  5. I want her cardigan, too. We went costume shopping yesterday and I kept saying how cute the kid costumes were and how hideous the adult ones are! I'm making one up from my closet!

  8. Very cute! Nice to see something other than all quilting once. ('Course I don't really search the knitter's blogs either. LOL)

  10. How did you do the waist? I've hit this crafting mood lately and all I want to do is knit and sew. And lately it's more knit than anything!

  12. Oh, I MISS the days of being able to dress my daughters in cute things. The youngest is about to turn 11, and she's too big for stuff like that (SHE thinks).

  13. Cute! I love the new skirt, especially with the knee socks and Mary Janes. Aw, those were the days when we could dress like that. Don't you love it when you family members suggest you could make everything, when, in theory, you probably could if you had 100 hours in a day. Abby is a great model!

  15. this is adorable...even though he is making you more work it is sweet that he has faith in you and is interested enough in your crafting to say you should do it. that is how my husband is.

  24. This is soo cute! you and your hubby make a great team for sure. Did you use a drawstring waist? Just think when she outgrows the skirt, it can be worn as a tube top! Lol.

  25. Very, very cute! I don't have any girls to sew/knit/crochet for. :( I do have a niece, but she's more of an Old Navy/Gap/Banana Republic kind of girl.

My husband is always coming up with ideas, too, but his are always horribly difficult and absolutely impossible to accomplish. "You know what you should do? You should make a quilt that looks like an airport, and have lights embedded in the quilt that look like a runway, and a little quilted plane with a real engine that can take off and land, and little quilted birds that get sucked up into the engines...."

  32. Super super cute! And I can relate to having a husband who likes to add to my to-do list. Thankfully, this year he's actually making one of the costumes!
And my list of projects is hopeless as well. It keeps getting longer, never shorter!
