patchwork

what is it about patchwork that is so compelling?

some days i think that it is sheer genius.

other days i'm convinced that i need an intervention.

know what i mean?

  1. I DO know what you mean, but speaking for myself, I don't ever want to stop! Quilting seems to be a "disease" but a good one. It has gotten me through some tough times by keeping me focused on the project at hand.

    Hugs, Karen

  5. I think you are preaching to the choir....that would be why I have so many UFO's I am compelled to start new projects because the patchwork is just so darn pretty. I have a friend that thinks I am nuts because I take beautiful fabrics and cut them into tiny pieces just to turn around and stitch them again. I told her I call it THERAPY!

  11. Someone once mentioned to my husband that she thought I was very talented with all the patchwork I did, to which my husband (God bless him!) replied, "I call it possessed....." ;-)

  12. Completely agree! I was just at an exhibit of antique quilts, marveling at some (AMAZING!) teeny tiny patchwork -- and then thinking the quilter was a bit nuts to take such tiny piecing on (by hand! no chain piecing! no rotary cutter!)

  14. I like to remind my husband, "it could be herion." And then my addiction doesn't seem so bad.

  17. Look on the bright side, at least its a productive addiction! I seem to have become a bit addicted to hand piecing, which is significantly less productive, but still fun :)

  25. quilts quilts is always on my mind. I try and sew everyday. I have to send my sewing machine off to be repaired. It isn't even in the mail, yet and I already miss it. I think I need a small back up machine to tide me over till I get 'my precious back'. I love to read articles re: quilts and different quilting designs and enjoying reading blogs, your comments and your blogs. Keep up the amazing work, funs, and spirit. Bonnie

  29. I think its all about the creative process. you start off with something small, and end up with something big, Patchwork in itself isnt hard to do, it just takes a long time
