whirlygiggle

The whirlygiggle quilt is complete! It was a joint project between Heather and I. It is going to be donated to our sons' school silent auction, which is this Saturday.

Planning a donation quilt is tricky. It's hard to guess what color scheme that will appeal to many people. In this case, we didn't want it to be gender specific or too kiddish either. And we wanted to work completely from our stashes. I really like the outcome of this quilt. It is a twin size, so if someone buys it, (do you like my confidence?) it can be used on their child's bed. Or as a lap quilt.

We each pieced blocks for the top.

Heather pieced the back, basted it and stippled it.

I made and attached the binding...

...which is pieced from scraps.

And here it is, on my son's bed.
I just need to attach the label.
I might be bidding on it come Saturday. :)

Such modesty - "if it sells"!

Make sure the info about the quilt mentions that you have a famous blog - it'll increase the winning bid for sure!

And yes, I don't know how you could part with this one. I'd definitely bid on it!

Wow. What a quilt. I don't think I could part with it after all that work. My daughter's orchestra teacher is asking parents to make quilts for an upcoming fund raising quilt auction. The quilts that brought in the most money last year were all denim rag style quilts. I was disappointed to see the quilts which more time to make bring in less money. This makes it hard for me to choose what kind of quilt I'll make to contribute. I'd love to know how much money this brings in after the bidding is over.

ilovebabyquilts said...

I love it! So colorful. The back really makes it. I never even thought of doing pieced backs until I've seen it all over the blogs. I love the color blocks together. It makes the bed look bigger, so that's nice.

Love, Love, Love!!

I ended up buying back the quilt I donated to my daughter's school auction last year. So glad I did, as we ended up moving back to the US suddenly and now we have this memory with all her classmates and teachers artwork and signatures on it!

Hope the auction goes well. I am sure it will bring in big bucks...it is perfect!
