I had to participate.
The large yellow floral will be the back of my swell zig zag quilt.
The stripe will be the binding.
The rest is for my stash.
I'm building a lovely green polka dot collection.
I need to go on a fabric buying ban soon.
I need to go on a fabric buying ban soon.
And here is said zig zag quilt in progress.
I'm using swell charm packs.
This is less than half the quilt.
I really don't like working with triangles.
I love the effect, though.

so so pretty! triangles are buggers, aren't they?!
I love those greens and reds. Great combination. Lucky you.
Oh I love your zig zag quilt. You are so fabulous at picking out your fabrics and knowing how to showcase them in a quilt!
~Krista
the effect is AWESOME. ;)
I love the zig zag! Never tried one myself, but looks like it would be a fun challenge. The new fabrics are fantastic as usual...love getting new fabric!!
I'm working with Swell fabrics right now and love the combinations. I haven't done triangles yet, but everyone seems to be really into the zig zag...I'm going to put it on my list of quilts to make!
Tina
It's wonderful!! The greens and reds go well together :-)
It so pretty! I have 2 Swell charm packs in my stash and have been saving them for something... after seeing this, I NEED to start a project with them.
Jen :)
This is so pretty!! I can't wait to see it finished!!
Lovely! I like the color scheme, too!
I try to avoid triangles as much as possible. I don't know if this method will work with the charm squares you are using in your project, but have you tried to make them this way?...

This way you can avoid those nasty bias edges. Hope you can utilize it. :o)
I like your colors combination!
I love your zig zag quilt!
Beautiful fabrics and a beautiful quilt-in-the-making!
If you manage to succeed in the fabric buying ban, tell me how! Please? :)
Love those swell fabrics! Triangles? I tend to shy away, just for all the time they seem to take. . . but I too love the results.
I really like that zig zag quilt. So cute!
that looks beautiful. this is going to be stunning. that swell fabric is to die for! i have been drooling over it for some time now.
Beautiful!
Great idea with the charm packs! I have a million but not quite sure what to do with them. Maybe in your "free time" (ha ha, I know) you could make a list of creative things you do with charm packs. You always have such fresh ideas!
I love the pattern of the zig zag. I like it a lot!
Such pretty fabrics. I can see how it would be hard to resist them. Sale or no sale!
Should I say this is so CHARMing or this is SWELL? Either way, I love it. LOVE IT. I will be interested in hearing, when you are done....how many charm packs you used and finished size.
Pretty, pretty, pretty! Love the zig zags!
The zig zag quilt is going to be lovely! The "swell" fabrics are so pretty!
Just HAD to participate... of course! I like the zig zags, a bit of a departure from your usual, no?
I love those zig zag quilts! I keep seeing them,, and I have pieces cut, but can never get the right layout... it looks fabulous!
Oh this quilt is going to be wonderful... great purchases!!!
I just love the Swell fabrics!!
oooh! lovely!!!!! mommy wants!!!!! hehehe! it is fabulous, you have such a great eye for colors! and those fabrics! keep up with the eye candy!
Gorgeous! I want to piece one RIGHT NOW. But I may just have to settle for "this weekend."
Great quilt! I made one a few years ago with very bright fabrics - so much so that it's difficult to "see" the zig-zags! I like your contrast much better! I can't wait to see how you quilt it. Cheers!
you dont like triangles? you sure are doing a great job with something you dont like.
I'm also working on a zig zag quilt, although mine is not as far along as yours. I also dislike triangels. Although I do love the look.
Yours is FANTASTIC. I love all your new fabrics too. :)
I can see that it's way past time for me to get into a fabric shop. I thought Swell fabrics were your cute way of telling us what you thought of them! They're swell! Duh. Well, they are swell, I like them. I love polka dots, too. And, 1/2 square triangles are not my friend. I can never get them the same size. What size are these? I think I have learned to make them bigger, than cut them down so they can be the right size. Wasteful, I know, but more accurate for me!
Oooh, that floral is gorgeous (and I'm not a floral fan)! What is it?!
Love that zigzag too, was thinking about making one of my own and you may have just cinched the deal!
I really like your zig zag quilt. I'm going to have to try one one of these days.
I love the zig zag quilt! I have some prints charming fabrics I need to use and this could be the perfect thing, just what I need another new project!!(NOT) lol.
Another quilt from Charm packs...You are so good! I can't even imagine jumping to triangles yet, but maybe one day...
Love your choice of fabrics and admire your bravery in picking such a bold print in the yellow and red flowers. I'm such a chicken! I look at those fabrics and somehow I can never picture what to do with them. Maybe you'll be able to open my eyes to the possibilities of such fabulous prints.
~~Fran...:c)
love it!! check out the one i just finished this weekend. zigzag frenzy! www.whosies.blogspot.com
i think this is looking really good...that swell fabric has a nice soft, vintage look. it's going to be fab! i'm right with you on the triangle. made another section for the monet quilt today...enough triangles already!
Your new fabric is beautiful. You have inspired me to organize all of my fabric into color schemes and start on a quilt. I've taken one machine quilting class and that was about 5 years ago. Anyway, I love how you quilt all of your own quilts. I was wondering what kinds of machines are the best for this? Can you tell I'm a novice? Thanks and I will continue to check your blog as I love it!
This is going to be beautiful. I am impressed as always.
It looks great! And thanks for the idea. I have a bunch of Swell charm packs, and I've been racking my brain for what I'm going to do with them. Now I know! I'll just copy you! Thanks!
Participate? lol! I love that!
What a great quilt.... and the colors are perfection. I'm glad I found your blog.
Oh lovely new fabrics! And I hear you on triangles... I don't enjoy 'em either. But the results are always so worth it and this quilt top is no exception!
It is going to be such a pretty quilt. I love your choice for backing fabric.
i don't envy you the triangles but you're right, the effect is stunning. interesting fabric choices :D
I love the effect too. It's beautiful!
what a pretty quilt.
the colours remind me of the holidays :)
Very nice! How many charm packs did you use up?
This quilt is so pretty and fresh looking! Are all the green polka dots from the same line of fabric?
Love this one! Can't wait to see it completed. Makes me want to go buy some charm packs and start one right now! What size are the blocks?
paige,
the floral is from the swell line by Urban Chicks for Moda.
aj
jeri and karen,
I started with charm squares, which are 5" cut. by the time the half square triangles are sewn together they will be just a bit larger than 4" finished.
aj
diane,
all the green polka dots are from different fabric lines.
aj
kristy,
I quilt and piece all my quilts on my JUKI TL-98Q. I LOVE my sewing machine and would highly recommend it.
aj
julianna,
I have 4 charm packs that I am using for this quilt. the blocks that are shown on the photo is less than half of the number of blocks that will be in the quilt.
aj
i've yet to do triangles - i do squares and strips . . .
but i just got a cutting board and ruler - so i'm feeling like i may be able to try the triangles - now that i can cut them straight!
looks lovely. i really like bright colors popping out of white.
The zig zag quilt is turning out great! I love, love the green polka dot fabrics!
Shoppin', shoppin', shoppin'!
Love the zig-zag quilt!
I see you couldn't stay away from the pink for more than one quilt shop trip. :)
Wow!!
Oh, this quilt speaks to my heart...I love this one! I'm bookmarking this inspiration. Thanks again.
What a great idea for using charm squares!
