It all started innocently enough....I was reading my bloglines and I came across this post. I fell in love with the cuteness and cleverness of this candy corn tote. I knew I had to make one, too. Then Lera suggested that I make a candy corn quilt. Of course I should! It's like Nanette stated in this post-the idea struck me like lightening.
I started this quilt top Saturday night and by Monday night I had the top complete. I am so in love with this quilt! I used 100% scraps, which makes it all the sweeter. I can't wait to quilt it. Lera and I exchanged numerous emails this weekend-both of us with a crazy amount of ideas for candy corn projects. You can see her crazy cute patchwork pillow here.
Through our email conversations, we decided we should hold a Candy Corn Contest. We will open it up to anyone who would like to participate. Any medium is accepted: photography, quilts, sewing, knitting, scrapping, etc. There is a flickr group where you can upload your photos to join in the contest. Judging will take place on October 30 with the winner(s) being announced on October 31. The prizes are still to be determined, but they will be candy corn inspired, of course. :)
The quilt is darling! I, for one, really don't like candy corn. Though I may have to enter your contest anyway!
Love the quilt - so bright and cheerful. And yes, I LOVE candy corn. Might have to think of a project candy corn related! I did your checkbook and cosmetic case - how easy and how cute!!!
I have candy corn with my breakfast every day in October. Love the quilt and the flash of inspiration, aren't those so fulfilling?
wow! that is gorgeous!!
I added the candy corn trees to the flickr group. (My colors are not in the same order though b/c of the way I had to do the dying.)
What fun! I love the quilt top and if you didn't mention the candy corn theme I wouldn't have even guessed it which means you can use it all through winter too.
What a great idea. I love the quilt and can't wait to see what is posted in the candy corn flickr group.
Love this quilt!! I have candy corn in a dish on my desk right this minute!! You are quite an inspiration!!
I love the idea of your contest but am too busy to do it right now. I do love your quilt though. It will be fun to see what people come up with.

Candy corn cuteness!
That is a darned cute quilt and best of all it looks like it was a lot of fun to make. We could all use lots of fun these days! Can't wait to see it quilted.
i'm continually impressed by your scraps and you did this so quickly. what a fun inspiration!
what a cool idea! those are some pretty darn nice scraps!
I've been thinking about candy corn all day. This is weird. We didn't celebrate Halloween in Australia when I was growing up, but we knew about it through an American exchange teacher who had a bag of precious candy corn sent over to her from the US at Halloween. She threw a party for her students and everyone got just two of three pieces of it. That was our full Halloween experience! The memory of it is so fine! Now my son wants to celebrate Halloween and I've been thinking today of getting some sent over from the States!! A strange thing to read about it tonight on your blog!
I've just found out your blog! I like it very much.
Thanks a lot for showing what you do.
Love from France!
Love the candy corn quilt...we are going candy corn crazy in this house at the moment!! I am enjoying using up some of my scraps in seasonal projects!
Off to flickr now!
The colors are perfect!
holy candy corn!
Unfortunately I will be able to be part of the contest (I am not part of flickr), though I think I will try to make some candy corn item.
Absolutely gorgeous...and I can't believe how quick you are!
