seeing stars

I've been busy working on the next quilt along. This time I am trying to get the top done before posting the instructions. I have 2 more stars to make, then I need to assemble all the pieces.

As promised, it's a bunch of stars...

with some setting blocks (I think that's what they are called) and some sashing.

We start on Monday.

  1. That is going to be absolutely beautiful! I really need to find a place to learn how to machine quilt. I've only ever quilted by hand, and that's stopping me from quilting now, because I just don't have the time to do it. Any suggestions? I get quilt envy every time I read your blog, so I need to get cracking!

  8. juli,

I would recommend taking a machine quilting class. that would be a great start. and start practicing on smaller sized quilts until you build up your confidence. good luck!

This looks absolutely beautiful. I can't wait to start. Do you have any idea on the fabric requirements in terms of yardage? I want to use this as an excuse to buy more fabric and want to make sure I get enough!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Okay, geez. I have to do this one. Even though triangles give me hives. Seriously. I can never do them perfect enough to suit me.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh I like it - count me in for this one - guess I'd better go to the store for fabric:)

  39. Woo-hoo!!! I have been so excited to start this one! :) THe fact that you put so much time & effort into this thing ... thank-you! :) Now I just need to go find some more fat quarters to start with! :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. jen,

I don't really keep track of the yardage, but for the background fabric I think 6-7 yards should be enough. (I'm hoping that would be enough.) you see, I bought 13 yards of this background, and I am using it for a few quilts at a time.

  41. The thoughts and planning you do is amazing. Thanks ahead of time for all the work you put into these quilts. I'm looking forward to this quiltalong...the last one was great. Now----what colors?

  42. I am playing this time!!!!

  43. I'm just finishing the border on the first one, but this looks great. I'm thinking blue and yellow's, but second guessing myself with darker greens and cream.
I can't wait for this one. Thanks a bunch.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Anonymous3:22 PM

Whoa this is going to be cool. To the person who said darker green and cream it's a great color combo.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Do you think a charm pack would be enough for the colored part of the stars? If so, I think I've already got quite of bit of the fabric!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I've just found your blog. I love quilting! I've never tried triangles. I would love to join the quilt-along! Thanks so much!

  47. blondie,

I think you will need more than a charm pack for these squares. fat quarters and fat eighths work well, as do fabrics from the stash.

  48. Oh! I am so excited you are doing another one! I missed the last one, and never quite got caught up! Yay for a quilt a long, count me in!
