patchwork obsession: part 20
My falling oaks quilt is done and I love how it turned out.
The blocks are 6". The leaves are sewn on with the raw egdes exposed so they will fray and add a nice texture over time. It is a lap size-54"x72".
The backing is pieced-all from my stash-again. I tell ya', it's amazing how many quilts I have finished without purchasing new fabric. Not even for binding. And I am just starting to see a dent in the old stash. Oy. The fabric on the left is flannel toile (oh, and it's so lovely + soft) and the fabric on the right is a leaf print quilter's cotton. I love love LOVE piecing the backs of my quilts. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should.
I just did more stippling on this quilt. I actually looked forward to quilting this one. I never would have dreamed....
So, another one down, and I only have 6 quilts in progress.
Only six. Sheesh! I'm in deep.

I really like the idea of leaving the leaf edges raw. I want to make some pillows for our family room and I might try this.
Looks fantastic... Again your stippling is fantastic!!
Amazing. You and your quilt(s).
What a clever idea to leave the leaf edges raw! I'm sure it will look gorgeous.
Also, I love the stippling. Is that something you do freehand? It's fabulous!
the leaves are the perfect touch! great job, amanda jean!
This is really great! And so nice and in season. I'm amazed at how prolific a quilter you are (and that you can quilt all of these things on your Juki-- color me impressed!).
(Also, thanks for your comment on my blog... I, too can't stand to throw away any possibly usable piece of fabric.)
ya know - I'm running out of adjetives to describe your quilts. I'm going to have to come up with some new ones.
But of course - it's beautiful!! I'm not sure which I like more, the back or the front. That flannel looks so cozy!!
Wow! It's beautiful. But then all of your quilts are.
It is absolutely beautiful amandajean! Perfect for the fall:)
It's gorgeous! And finished just in time for Fall.
It's lovely, and I am glad that you have been able to accomplish so much with fabric from your stash. Never seems to work that way for me. LOL
Yeah for getting another one finished! It is so beautiful AmandaJean, and perfect for this time of year. The oak leaves look really good. For some reason, I was thinking Maple Leaves for an autumn quilt, but I realize that is because I'm Canadian :-) So you *only* have 6 wips now? That's less than last time you reported right?
it makes me feel warm just looking at it erin!! fabulous! do you pre wash your flannel when you quilt with it and quilter's cotton? i usually like not washing any of it until its finished. kinda wondering how the flannel works with that!
It's really a great quilt! You amaze me with all of your finished projects!
Beautiful, love the colours you've used.
It is beautiful...how do you whip those out so quickly? I am impressed!
The quilt is so beautiful with all the Autumn colours and leaves!
wow, that turned out great! i like the triangles a lot.
ooh it's lovely! I just love the colours! Bet it will be great to curl up under!
emandthegang referred me to you web site. I am also a quilter (hand-sewn, applique quilting - I'm getting ready for Christmas and my hand feels like it is about to fall off!). You have lovely work.
emandthegang referred me to this web site, and the quilt is lovely. I am also a quilter (hand piecing or machine, hand quilting or machine).
I can't believe that you only have 6 in progress. I'd be surprised if I have fewer than 25. I like your list in your sidebar. I may copy that some time in the future.
