This is my arithmetic quilt. (You can see a full photo of the quilt top here.) It's a twin size, so I'm pleased that I was able to quilt it (off and on) over a 5 day stretch. That's a pretty moderate pace! I went with a simple loop de loop all over for the quilting. Nothing fancy, just something to keep the layers together and add some lovely texture. It's kind of fun that the quilting shows up a lot more on some of the blocks and a lot less on the other blocks. I used Aurifil thread in the color 2600. It's a beautiful light gray thread that blends with almost everything.
Here's the wall paper that got it's eviction notice...finally! I'm guessing that it's from the 90's? It totally overstayed it's welcome. I'm so glad it's gone, gone, GONE. This project also took several days. I am mildly disturbed that I actually ENJOYED ripping it down. (How sick it that?) I am glad that it was just a border, though. That was plenty!
Before I sign off for today, that you SO MUCH for all of your kind comments on Abby's Sunset quilt top. I appreciate each one! I hope you are having a fabulous week! xo
There's something very satisfying in doing away with things we don't love! Progress always feels good.
ReplyDeleteI love your arithmetic quilt and the splash of color. I'm glad you enjoyed pulling wall paper down; it gives me hope. The master bedroom is wallpapered on all four walls in a very dated design. The fortunate part of this wallpaper is it is falling off the wall by itself. When I get the mojo to remove all the furniture I'm thinking it will be easy to get off. There is the matter of the second bedroom that only has wallpaper on one wall, and that's the wall with the closet. Not so much to remove there! But it's sticking with a vengeance!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing your next quilt!
Hooray for progress!! Looking forward to seeing your completed quilt. Have fun with the painting!
ReplyDeleteMay I ask how you removed the wallpaper border? I have not had success in my attempt. I tried the "paper tigar" tool, hot water, hot vinegar, chemicals...you name it. My husband ended up sanding off the final bits. A horrendous mestons say the least!

We had quite a bit of wallpaper to rip down in this house when we moved in. I completely get the satisfaction that comes from ripping it off! LOL. I'm sure your daughter is happy to have that dated stuff gone too! I like the arithmetic quilt, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI had that same wallpaper border in my boys' room for years! That's so funny. It got evicted, too.
ReplyDeleteI love the arithmetic quilt and the pink pop of color! And I too get a satisfaction from taking down wallpaper...not so much the process, but love the blank wall that leads to inspiration! The room always feels "refreshed" when it is gone! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI have a great trick for removing wallpaper. If you rub fabric softener on the paper and let it soak in, the wallpaper will peel right off! You can also add the fabric softener with some hot water to a spray bottle to make it easier to apply.
ReplyDeleteExcited to see what you bind this quilt in.
ReplyDeleteI did a double take when I saw the wallpaper border you're removing. It is indeed from the 90's. I put it in my young son's room and he's 32 now!
ReplyDeleteThis is a very beautiful job.
