tag arithmetic quilt--the beginning

I've been having the hardest time focusing this week, so I decided to start a new project. That is sooooo not logical, unless you are a quilter (or crafter)....right?
I bought this quilt kit (my first ever!) from Connecting Threads back in February. The fabric is my friend Cheryl's line called Tag. The pattern is called Arithmetic, by my friend Jeni. It's pretty neat to be able to support two of my friends in one purchase!
I love this project because it's FAST! I started cutting late this morning and did the layout this afternoon. I plan to sew a little bit on it this evening. It's so nice to have a straightforward project to work on.
My daughter really likes the color scheme, so she has already tried to claim it for her own. I guess we will have to see about that....

The kits are still available (and on sale!) here, if you care to make one of your own. Updated to add: it looks like the kits are sold out. I still highly recommend the pattern!

I hope you are having a good week so far!

I think that is totally true of quilters and other crafting endeavors, it seems so illogical but to us it makes perfect sense!! Great quilt!! Take care and Happy Sewing from Iowa

I have that kit! I used the pattern two weeks ago, with solids to make a baby quilt. It went together really fast! This kit is slated for my son for his 50th birthday. What size squares are you using, 4.5"? I will probably substitute the coral for another more masculine/guy color... maybe Bronco orange or blue or maybe Viking purple or gold?

Very nice set of fabrics; I love the little punch of colour with the pink.

Wow, that was fast! And of course it makes totally sense for any quilter. That is the reason we have so many WIPs, right? I guess this won't be one for long.

I love to stitch a kit every now and then. It's just nice to have all the decisions made for me - kinda like paint by numbers, which I loved as a kid! :)

I love it, but was too late to order one. They don’t seem to be available anymore :(.

I love it! Only wish the kit was still available.

I was just looking at this pattern, I want to make it in blues, but I love your color choices.

Lovely quilt, Amanda. It was so nice meeting you in person this past Sunday in Hudson. Sounds like you might be coming to our Oshkosh NEW Modern Quilt Guild show this spring! That would be super. You gave a lovely talk at Hudson. Well done! You have that super genuine personality that other quilters can embrace.

I have purchased and made this quilt too- mine is queen size and it went together very quickly. Jeni has the best instructions in her patterns. Have fun and I love reading your blog. You've inspired me to make pin cushions too by the way :)

Hi Amanda,
I agree with your daughter - I love this color scheme! The pattern really makes the prints shine. I am going to check both out - maybe they'll get more kits in stock . . . ~smile~ Roseanne

Amanda,
I forgot to ask - is this fabric line available anywhere else besides Connecting Threads? I really love the prints and that one pop of coral is just stunning. Thank you! ~smile~ Roseanne
