My crazy rails quilt has been sitting on my design wall, waiting patiently for some time and attention. WIPs are good like that. (ha!) This is what the quilt looked like a couple of weeks ago....
This past weekend I attended an in-town retreat, so I had an entire day to sew with friends. It was lovely! This was a great project to work on because it required very little concentration. Between the sew day and a few more hours at home, the project grew quite a bit!
You can see the specifics of the quilt here, including a photo of the inspiration quilt and the measurements of the blocks. (The blocks at the top of my design wall are ones that my daughter is slowly working on. I love how they coordinate with my quilt!)Currently, I have 306/480 blocks complete. If I stick with my original plan, I only have 174 to go. That's not too bad!
A friend sent me a photo of this quilt a few weeks ago. Isn't that insane? I thought I was crazy. Turns out, maybe I'm not so crazy after all. :)
Happy Monday to you!
I love a good rail fence! The polka dot prints really jump out at me. :)
ReplyDeleteDelightful, classic. The blocks at the top will be a border?
ReplyDeleteIf so, I like it!
I love the fabrics in your rail fence. So cheery and fun! Nice progress!
ReplyDeleteSuch a happy quilt! That takes perseverance! The one you gave the link for is insane! I wonder how long that took!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! You balanced the pinks/reds so well. Very pleasing to look at! That linked quilt is for someone with a screw loose I think. Holy cow!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I have a soft spot in my heart for scrappy quilts, and the colors in your quilt are so cheerful!
ReplyDeleteLove your rails progress and such cheerful fabrics :)
ReplyDeleteLove the craziness! Scrappy is my favorite! Have a picture of a quilt I made from one of your patterns up on my blog today. It came out sew beautiful and the recipient just loved it! XO
ReplyDeleteYes, I met Annie Agius, the woman who is doing this insane world-record-quilt during a Quilting Festival in spring 2015 in France (Provence). Her quilt certainly is huge, but not necessarily beautiful. Instead, I very much like the colours you are using. Your quilt is a lot brighter than hers, and a lot smaller, so that one can actually use it.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt with the small rails is amazing but I think I prefer the size rails that you're using. I love the colors that you are combining together.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! Looks like great "therapy" sewing...
ReplyDeleteRail Fence is my go-to type of quilt. i have done these in just blues, just reds and just purples. i love the scrappie ones so I have done 3 in neutrels and 3 the are reds/whites/blues. you can throw any colors in them and it just goes.
ReplyDeleteWow, you made a ton of progress! Love the link that proves you are totally sane.
ReplyDeleteIt's alway such a delight to see your scrap projects. This one makes me want to pull out all those skinny scrap strips and start sewing. Do you have multiple design walls for all these ongoing projects? Lack of space keeps too many projects from starting in my studio. The scrap quilt in the link it totally totally crazy.
ReplyDeleteYou aren't the only crazy one! haha! http://www.cascadequilts.com/2016/10/crazy-trips-quilt-top.html
ReplyDeleteLove the progress, this will be an awesome quilt!
Holy Macaroni! That quilt you linked to is INSANE!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your quilt so far. How big will it eventually be when it is finished?
Wow- this quilt is so nice. I love the whole scrappy look. Who doesn't love a good rail fence block.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering what the measurements of your pieces were? Thank you-this quilt is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI just love how cute this is and what a great way to use up scraps! I need to start on one.
