Welcome to finish it up Friday!
I'm very excited that I finished knitting a honey cowl this week! (There is a free pattern here if you care to make one of your own.) I used 2 skeins of luscious Madelinetosh yarn that I bought at Home Ec Workshop last summer when we were passing through Iowa City. I usually knit socks on size 2 needles, so knitting a project on size 8 needles was a delight! This is the kind of project I would usually finish in July rather than January. So, hurray for a warm, toasty neck and a timely finish! :)
I'd highly recommend the pattern! I've already cast on another one in a yummy aqua color.
Now it's your turn! Please link up your finishes for the week. Thank you for joining me for finish it up Friday!

ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! I love the color so much!
ReplyDeleteThat is just beautiful! Makes me want to get my knitting needles out again which I pretty much put down when I started quilting! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cowl!! I love the honey cowl pattern. I've made it a couple of times and it's always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI made this using one skein of MadTosh with size 4 needles. Of course it was smaller but I like it that way because it fits nice and tight. But seeing yours I want to make another.
ReplyDeleteI love knitted cowl's this time of year! Yours is lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis does look warm and cozy and I can't wait to see the one in aqua! Just in time for the frigid weather we are having now, Amanda Jean!
ReplyDeleteLove the cowl and Madelinetosh yarn is so yummy!- aqua will be lovely too!
ReplyDeleteyour neck will be so berry warm in this! it's lovely. =)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI could use that today. The snow is falling and it's cold outside. It looks lovely on you.

Lori
I made one of these in a yummy variegated yarn. Love the color you chose!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great cowl. I've been looking for a knitting project...this might be it.
ReplyDeleteAmanda! I cannot believe how many people link for the Friday Finishes! It's amazing, and in great part by you, your motivation and inspiration! :)
ReplyDeleteI just printed out the same pattern! I have two skeins of yarn I was going to use for a shawl and decided to use it for the cowl instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat size did you make yours?
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean by the size 8s. I am doing a lush sampler cowl in cashmerino (also a free pattern) and it is on size 8s. Compared to my usual socks or fingerless gloves on 1s and 2s, I am flying through this! Cute pattern and lovely finish.
ReplyDeleteIt's lovely! I know the aqua one will be beautiful as well! Sure wish I could knit....
ReplyDeleteI'm working on honey cowl now. I have Madelinetosh sport weight + mohair
ReplyDelete- love the stitch appearance, can't wait until it's off the needles & on my neck
Just wanted to thank you for hosting the Friday Finishes. I try to post something each Friday as a way of saying thank you for the inspiration you bring to us all. It's amazing the ideas that have come to me from enjoying Sunday Morning Quilts. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your work!
ReplyDeleteWhat size did you make yours?
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cowl, and it looks so toasty and warm! Lovely, lovely color.
ReplyDeleteCheck out the Knitting Shoppe on Muscatine in Iowa City the next time you go through - lovely selection there also - more modern than the name indicates.
ReplyDeleteLoni,
ReplyDeleteThis is the long version! :)
