dot your i's...making progress

After a bit of a break from this quilt, I'm back at it and it feels good! This one is all about the process. I mean, I'm sure I'll like and use the quilt when it's done....but having a hand stitching project at the ready is essential for my sanity these days! (I can use all the sanity I can get! Ha!)
I started off with scraps from Denyse Schmidt's first two lines of fabric...flea market fancy and Katie Jump Rope, which dictated the color scheme. It's an interesting color mix and it's somewhat brighter than I expected it to be, but that's ok! I've been adding in a few other random prints for variety, but slowly as to not upset the current balance. It's funky and fun and I really like it!

For more specifics about the quilt, you can read this post.

Happy Monday to you!

  3. Loving it. I, too, have set self up with a similar, portable hand project. There's something about the process, from selecting the fabrics to going through each step. It's relaxing and rewarding. And there for grabbing those few, inbetween minutes to sew. You can pick it up, set it down, carry it with you.......a perfect project!

  4. What a fun quilt! I like that you can take just a few blocks with you when you're travelling so it's not ever too overwhelming! I guess I'll have to get the book!

  6. Amanda Jean, Dotting I's can drive one insane haha. I love Row 5
and the 5th one over...looks like a frog w/it's bulging eyes, only in yellow w/orange eyes (I see it's actually a Daisy print).
Thanks for sharing, I too like bright!

  8. Love how this taking shape. Maybe you should throw a strip in there to be the "i" I have never done a hand pieced project but the more I see of them the more I'm thinking about it. Too bad I wasn't quilting much when my kids were little. I would have gotten a lot done during all those sports and dance practices.
