ladder leap quilting in progress

My latest quilt finish was 7 weeks and 4 days ago.
That's a long time (for me) and it makes me twitchy.
If all goes according to plan, that will change this week!
I am looking forward to snuggling under this quilt while hand binding.
Amazingly enough, I'm not even dreading the 100 thread ends I will need to bury.
It'll all be worth it!

Happy Monday to you!

  4. I know just what you mean, I go a bit nuts if I cannot put thread into fabric, LOL!! I finally got one to the quilting stage this past week, my last finish was about 5 weeks ago, a charity quilt. You are not alone! I am very familiar with that twitchy feeling.

Silly question, Amanda Jean, but why don't you bury the ends as you go? Just wondering.

  12. Amanda Jean, I love it! What a rainbow of color. All solid Kona's?
Previously was never a fan of grey anything, but this is just smashing

  15. Do you use a self threading needle to bury threads? I find that part of the process very satisfying but I now try to take very short stitches when starting and ending my fmq to enable snipping the ends. So far, I like to do it this way. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

  20. I love gray as a background and use it quite frequently. I also love to use gray or silver thread. I wonder why that is.!! Your ladder quilt is smashing.

  24. Rieann,

Usually I bury the thread ends as I go, but I was anxious to get the quilting done! I can bury the ends in the evenings when my kids are home and then I don't need to be at my machine.

    Hope that helps!

  26. Judy in Michigan,

I used to use a self-threading needle, but it seemed to shred my threads. Now I use a large eyed needle. It's easy to thread and it goes pretty quick.

    I hope that helps!

  27. Amanda J,

I bury the thread ends because there is a lot of starting and stopping. I chose to quilt the elements of the quilt separately, using different colored threads for each of the blocks and another color for the background. It's a lot of extra work, but it seemed like the best option for this particular quilt.

    I hope that helps!
