It's Friday! I hope you've had a good week of finishing!
I am thrilled to share my completed pineapple quilt top! It's been in progress since July, if I recall correctly. It was a fun (and intense) journey and I'm so glad that the top is DONE! It turned out remarkably close to the initial vision I had in my head. Hurray for that!
These blocks (tutorial here) are time consuming! I estimated that each one took me about 3 hours, and I'm sure that a few of them took even longer. That means I have a minimum of 60 hours into this quilt already. Oh Mylanta! (Sometimes it's better NOT to do the math, right? :)) That being said, this is a special quilt and it was totally worth it!
The blocks finish at 15.5" square (16" unfinished), so the quilt top measures about 62" x 77.5". It's a lovely lap size.
I wish I could say that I've made a dent in my scrap bins, but that isn't the case at all. Oh, well! Such is the life of a scrap quilter!
Thanks to all of you who joined in the conversation yesterday about gift giving. It was fun to read all your comments!
How about you? Do you have a finish to share? I know it's hard this time of year with all kinds of secret sewing going on, but if you do have a finish you can share, please link up! Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

ReplyDeleteSpectacular! Love the colors and LV!
ReplyDeleteno finishes for me on my blog post today just all things in progress! I love your pineapple blocks - I have made several and like you say - intense!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pineapple quilt!!! Speaking of the gift of giving, I gave a good chunk of my scraps to a "quilter in need" last week. it's a win win all the way around relieves a nice layer of "scrap build-up anxiety."
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness, is this ever amazing! From the amount of time you've put into it to the beautiful visual effect!
ReplyDeleteAmazing and spectacular! Such a beauty.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt top is beyond fabulous. I am very envious of your scrap pile.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt! It's amazing how tiny scraps can pull such a punch of color. (And when you're doing something you love, time doesn't really matter, does it?)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful quilt. The design is mesmerizing. What a great way to use scraps.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Amanda!!
ReplyDeleteScrapilicious! What a gorgeous top! Your scrap bins produce the most lovely quilts, but this one is especially beautiful. Happy Friday, Amanda Jean and thanks for hosting the linky!
ReplyDeleteLove that scrappy goodness. nice job!
ReplyDeleteVery, very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWow I am so impressed! It's really a stunning top!
ReplyDeleteI can't keep up with you lady!!! The pineapples are so amazing!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is truly lovely in its colorful scrappiness. I only keep scraps that are at least 2.5" squares, but when I see what you've done with longer and skinnier bits, I'm regretting my plan of attack (and everything I've tossed recently)!
ReplyDeleteLove the pineapple! So joyful. It's one of the quilts on my bucket list.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic! Great work as usual - I just love how interesting scrappy quilts are!
ReplyDeleteSuch fantastic photos, the blocks look like multicoloured snowballs, I shall be looking at my scraps with a new eye now!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! A beautiful use of color and scraps.
ReplyDeleteOne word: Wow!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt makes me want to start a pineapple quilt! Maybe just a block here and there, using scraps when I finish a quilt.
ReplyDeleteThat quilt look like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYes ! This is a very special quilt top lots of love and hours. I have one like it in only three different colors. It was given to me. I love it!
ReplyDeleteYour pineapple quilt top is stunning!
ReplyDeleteMy finish for today was a long time coming... I finally finished the scrappy nine patch from your 3rd quilt-a-long that you hosted starting in April 2009.
Beautiful quilt--on my list of things to do but. . . . first I have several WIP's calling my name
ReplyDeleteyour pineapple is phenomenal! what an accomplishment and so beautiful. I have always loved that classic!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's so much fun Amanda, I love it - the colours make me think of fruit too!
ReplyDeletewonderful! LOVE this quilt! Nice finish!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo effective! Love it
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous! I started making one about the same time as you did but only made six squares. I enjoyed making them and will get back to finishing mine sometime. I look forward to how you decide to do the quilting!
ReplyDeleteYour finish is beautiful. The colors stand out as if it is 3-D. That is one that I would like to tackle in months to come. Have never seen the pineapple scrappy. I love scrappy.
ReplyDeleteWow, those pineapples! they are prettier than the one I bought at the grocery today! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou really are so talented. Your quilt is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love pineapple blocks. It is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt's incredible! I just want to sit and stare at it and the more I look the more it seems three dimensional. It is truly truly beautiful and I am in awe!!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilt! :o)
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. Thank you for showing us.
ReplyDeleteThis quilt top has such movement! I love your sense of color and use of low volume prints. Absolutely gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteOMG I am in love with your pineapple log cabin quilt! It is literally a joy to behold. I've been working on a pineapple log cabin of my own with skinny strips and large blocks, so I appreciate the effort that went into yours. Did you paper piece your blocks or use a different method? CONGRATULATIONS!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful. You are the queen of scrap quilting.
ReplyDeleteJust, wow!
ReplyDeleteThat was a labor of love. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am in Love!!!
ReplyDeleteI just finished one low volume 10 inch pineapple block last night. I keep on admiring my work. your pictures give me incentive to continue. Thanks for your pictures and blog.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is gorgeous. Once again this is an example that quilters quilt for the love of the craft because there sure is no money in it when 1 block can take up to 3 hours to complete. It is a work of art, no doubt about that.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!! I laughed at your comment about the math. I just made my first pineapple block for a member of the Mid Century Modern Bee only the color placement was the opposite of yours. Same scrappy low volume vs bright colors though. Can't say it was my favorite block to make so I give you lots of kiddos for sticking with making that many blocks. Well done.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to ask you how you get such a great 'collection' of light fabrics - with words or small item? I have been trying to collect fat quarters, but it never seems to be enough.
ReplyDelete60 hours but worth every second spent on it - it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful quilt - your work is such a delight to look at - well done :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That is an amazing quilt top! I've restricted myself to nothing bigger than teacosys lately!
ReplyDeleteAllison UK (frosty but not snowy!)
Have to join in the praise- I love this piece. I can understand why it has taken so long to complete. That is a LOT of piecing! Using the printed neutrals was a super idea, they realy add to it.
ReplyDeleteI do love a good pineapple (fruit & quilt)! Wow!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt was gorgeous. Is there a pattern for it or did you just take off? Whatever-the results are spectacular. Loving it.
ReplyDeleteIt's an Amazing Quilt, a work of art, one of the prettiest quilts I have seen this year! I'm sure you will treasure this for years and years. Congratulations on a fantastic accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is a "special quilt"!.
ReplyDeleteMesmerisingly beautiful
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is "WOW!!!"
ReplyDeleteDear Amandajean,
ReplyDeleteYour pineapple quilt is wonderful and your results are really amazing considering how much time each block has taken you. So you did go girl! I wish I could get your motivation so I could finish some UFO's off! Then I 'm sure I would be much happier. But I want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
How did I miss this last week! I LOVE this!
