Welcome to week 2 of the scrap basket quilt along!
I looked at the calendar last week and discovered there are actually 5 weeks in June (figures, doesn't it?) so here is the revised schedule....including dates, this time!
June 2: Introduction
June 9: Color Inspiration
June 16: Block Construction
June 23: Quilt top assembly and Quilting Ideas
June 30: Alternate ideas and link up to show your progress
Today is just going to be a quick post....I pulled different color combinations to give you inspiration. It was really fun! I pulled from my scrap bins for these photos, so please forgive the stray threads and odd wrinkles. Thanks! :)
orange and gray (this has been my oldest son's favorite color combination for years!)
black and white, gray, cobalt, navy and purple
black, red and gray (my younger son called this one licorice...yum!)
lime and black and white
cobalt, lime, black and white
orange, aqua and lime
same as above, but with the addition of gray (I LOVE this one!)
And this is the fabric pull I have chosen for my quilt. It's looking a little plain after all the pulls above, so I just may add something else to it.
I could have went on and on if time weren't an issue! I'm curious...which one catches your eye? Do you have a favorite? What color scheme will you choose for your QAL quilt?
Because I know someone will ask, how many yards of fabric will we need? I'm just estimating off the top of my head, but I would guess it will probably be between 3-4 yards.
Thanks again to those of you who will be quilting along with me! Happy Monday to you!
I like the first 2 combos. The colors I am working with are the second combo that you have - black and plum
ReplyDeleteI have been crushing on orange lately, so I LOVE your orange and grey. This just might be my color scheme. :)
ReplyDeletePretty combos! Gray, lime, navy with pops of orange, please.
ReplyDeleteI like the orange, aqua, lime and grey... you'll have 3 "cools" with one "warm" to pop! The last grouping you have there needs a "pop" of orange or red, no?
ReplyDeleteOh my, do I love this post! I think doing fabric pulls is my favorite part of the entire process. :)
ReplyDeleteLicorice for sure!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought of the orange and grey. Lately I have been attracted to aqua and orange together. I agree with moosecraft, last one needs a pop of orange or red.
ReplyDeleteHonestly...there is not one group you've pulled together that doesn't speak to me....as for my quilt...after reading the info you posted in week one...I will try to use many sport themed fabrics...so I imagine my color palette will be 'multi' - SMILE!
ReplyDeleteAlways wanted to make an orange and grey quilt but...I don't have much of either color. I DO have plenty of lime and aqua...I'll add them together and go for the orange.lime.aqua.grey. Fun.
ReplyDeleteI love the cobalt, lime, black and white......may do that one! I'm surprised I didn't choose one of the oranges, since that is usually my favorite. (:
ReplyDeleteThe ones that catch my eye are the ones with the pops of orange or red. Beautiful inspirations!
ReplyDeleteAll of them are so nice! Question though: is your tutorial going to be for WOF pieces, or can I dig up my little pieces? I have a ton of little pieces, that is why I ask. Looking forward to the next step!
ReplyDeleteI never noticed orange until my son announced it was his favorite color. I really like any of these with orange.
ReplyDeleteYou may plan to answer this next week with construction...but how many different fabrics will we need? Looking forward to starting on this project!
ReplyDeleteGreat color combos!
ReplyDeleteI like the aqua, orange and lime (without gray) the most. It's happy with great contrast.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing u your fabric choice process.
I like the last one the best. Can't wait to see what you make.
ReplyDeleteI like the last one best!
ReplyDeleteThey are all great together, I'm doing a scrap quilt for the first time as i thought i wouldn't like it, but its turning out quite nicely, i didn't intend to choose colour combos but they kind of happened anyway, and i did the light/ dark combo and made them into squares on point :)
ReplyDeleteLicorice caught my eye :-) It is lovely combo.
ReplyDeleteI love the red white and black combo! but I am insanely jealous of your fabrics they are all so gorgeous!

Orange, aqua, lime and grey - LOVE this one so much! Isn't playing with fabric the best? I could have looked at as many as you put up :-) Excited about this project.
ReplyDeleteAqua orange and lime with or without the grey :) I think I will be doing greens and blues with another color just havent figured out which one it is yet :)
ReplyDeleteI like the orange, aqua and lime but I like your choice also if you add a surprise color -- maybe an ochra yellow instead of orange and red? I think I would try and see.
ReplyDeleteMyrto
I suggest a pop of lemony yellow!
ReplyDeleteWow, they're all beautiful CrazyMom! I especially love the combo you've selected!
ReplyDeleteI love the last one, as well as the lime and black.
ReplyDeleteTimely post. We will be doing this same thing at our MQG meeting this Saturday. Color theory is a challenge for me.
I really like the lime, black, and white combo. Not sure what combo I will be using for my quilt but I better do a pull before next Monday so I don't fall behind! :)
ReplyDeleteFabulous combo!!
ReplyDeleteI like your last group but with a shot of warmth from adding the purples from #2. I first thought orange or even red, but the purple is more insistently begging to be let in....
ReplyDeleteAll those colours wow. Great combinations. Orange lime aqua and grey. Not combinations I have used before but these just might be my new favourites. Right where is the nearest fabric shop
ReplyDeleteI love orange and then I'd add... teal but I don't have enough in my scrap bin. So maybe it will be grey or yellow. Still thinking about it!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is YOUR favorite. I love the turquoise, lime, orange, and grey!!
ReplyDeleteLove what you ended up with, perhaps a spot of red or orange might give it the WOW factor?
ReplyDeleteI really like the cobalt, lime, black, and white!
ReplyDeleteI was really amazed thank you
