distressed quilt top

I finished a quilt top this morning! There are a hundred other things I should have been doing instead, but that's when the most sewing gets done, right?
It was way too windy for a clothesline photo today, but I gave it my best shot anyway. (Hahaha! sorry for the pun. It would make my dad proud, though. :))
The majority of the fabric is Nana's Pantry from Connecting Threads, with a few stash additions to make it a little bit larger. Some of the fabric was distressed using this method. It measures about 52" x 64". I love that it feels nearly vintage already!

This is another amazing quilt top! I love the colour play, and I had to look twice to see if you'd already quilted it, because it already looks puffy and soft! I can totally imagine this one as a big pouffy tied quilt. So yummy!

    Such beautiful, happy colours!
(I was also distracted by the mention of a clothesline. My American friends tell me everyone uses tumble dryers there. I'm so happy it isn't really everyone! My blog's most popular post is a peg bag tutorial.)

  27. What a beautiful quilt! I have some fabrics which have been sun damaged on one half and I will definitely have to consider making one of these as I hate the idea of wasting all of the damaged fabric!

Love the use of color! I have to ask, though, when do you ever get the chance to get these turned into quilts? I love to create quilts using scraps, but I now have more than 200 "ready to be quilted" tops! I now have a self imposed rule that I can't start any new quilts until I am able to complete some of the ones already finished!

    What do you do?

  39. Beautiful! Love the colors too! Great job putting it together :)

  43. Each time I see these distressed fabric quilts I get a pang that says "I need to make one of these". Thanks for the link to your very good tutorial--it would be so handy if you could also add it to your "other tutorial" tab. Lovely quilt!
