Picadilly quilt

Welcome to finish it up Friday!

Last night about 11:30 I finished hand binding my Picadilly quilt. I just LOVE it!
Fabric is Picadilly by Denyse Schmidt from JoAnn's with a few stash additions. The block measurements can be found here.
Pieced backing influenced by the quilts of Gee's Bend. (I have the book out of the library and have been pouring over it every few days. It's so good!)
I quilted it with a simple stipple in white Aurifil thread.
A shock of pink and red polka dot binding finishes things off nicely.
A few more polka dots on the back....of course!
I sure love the mix of prints and the white. A lovely balance, I think.
My daughter did some quilt testing this morning and she gave it her seal of approval. It's nice and cozy. I'm going to have to keep my eye on it or else it will end up in her room with her umpteen other quilts! It measures 65" x 80" or so.

Now it's YOUR turn. Please link up your finishes for the week. Thanks for joining me for finish it up Friday!

Great quilt! I just love this binding.

And yes, looking at the Gee's Bend quilts is such an inspiration. Have you seen any of them in person? A display came to Atlanta several years ago and it was amazing.

Your quilt is so beautiful and simple. Someone at our guild showed a quilt in these fabrics last night! I must have that buttery print with pink bouquets.

I can see why your daughter snatched this one up. I, too, like the mix of whites and prints. The pattern would be a very fun break from triangles!

This is beautiful. I love the white background. It really makes the blocks pop. I have yet to use white in a quilt. I am not sure what I am afraid of.

Love this quilt! Picadilly is just incredible, I think.

That's pretty much how it works in my house, too. Regardless of the color scheme, my daughter wants every new completion to be hers.

I agree, the balance of white and prints is great.

I love this quilt and have been waiting to see it quilted! Nice job. What do I like the most about it? The BIG blocks. I need some quilts to send with my son to college in the fall and this would be a fun one! Maybe in his school colors?

If I was anywhere near this quilt I'd be swiping it! It's beautiful. I love this line (though I've loved all of Denyse Schmidt's lines!) - I've not seen it until now.
