I finished my 20th block for my scrappy trip along. Today's goal is to try to get the blocks into a quilt top. I enjoyed making this quilt very much. I must like it an awful lot...I cut into my Ruby and Flea Market Fancy fabric, after all!
It just so happens that my quilt matches a knit hat that I'm working on. Love it when that happens!
And this is what the aftermath of a scrappy trip quilt looks like. I have lots of folding to do. I used 120 different fabrics for this quilt! Maybe while I'm at the task of folding my fabric, I'll get to my laundry, too? One can hope!
Love that block! Forget the laundry and sew them together ;)
ReplyDeleteLove that block! Forget the laundry and sew them together ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL My living room looks like a quilt shoppe vomited in it! There are scraps, scraps of scraps everywhere!
ReplyDeleteYou quilt will be a labor of love and an "I Spy" for you!
Love the colors!
How funny, I took a deep breath and cut some ruby and FMF too! I am finishing the last 4 blocks today for a total of 36 and plan on getting the top together as well. But I am a little ahead, I folded up the pile yesterday! This was such a fun project. I have loved seeing everyone's versions.
ReplyDeleteAmanda... Beautiful block as are your quilts. Do you have favorite designers when you buy fabric? Your fabric choices create Joy in me.... Can you share who you love?
ReplyDeleteI'm getting Scrappy Trip Fever :)bad today.
I'm starting a new thing in a new year....
I do the things I hate to do but must do first in the morning I spend 1 hour, setting my timer 23 minutes at a time to push me to keep moving on task...Madame Samm said so :) just for Cleaning...I
put on a fun or inspirational CD and I worship and work on the chaos until the CD is finished. I am easily distracted this keeps me on task.
Sewing is way more fun than the dreaded laundry that never ends. So be stitch happy today for sure!
Can't wait for the showing of the finished quilt.
Janita
fun hat!
ReplyDeleteThe laundry can wait - let's get that quilt and knitting finished first!
ReplyDeleteOh mylanta, 120 fabrics? I do not think i have that many to choose from. I just looked at the tutorial. That's a cool method to make the blocks but still 120 fabrics? I can't wrap my brain around that. Have fun with the layout.
ReplyDeleteThe tutorial looks like a great way to get a lot of blocks without cutting each one individually...genius! I'm scared though looking at the intersections. Do you have any tips for making sure the blocks match up since they are so small?
ReplyDeleteDo your own laundry? Isn't that what you have kids for? I love that you used 120 fabrics. How fun!
ReplyDeleteHa, I pulled an old jelly roll to do this, so I'm using half a strip, just for fun! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI have been resisting joining in the scrappy trip along but seeing all this fun scrappy blocks out here... I'm really having a hard time! Looks great! I can't wait to see your top all together.
ReplyDeleteI got your book earlier this week and I am having a hard time deciding do I start the scrappy trip along or do a I start a quilt from the book! Unfortunately I don't have enough scraps to do either, as I am new quilter!
ReplyDeleteLooks like more fun stuff! I was inspired by your window panes quilt...I made one like it :) I posted about it today. www.hmm-well.blogspot.com Just thought I would share!
ReplyDeleteThe laundry will still be there...the quilt should not be left to it's own devices...Just saying...LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the scrappy trip block......what fun using all those fabrics.....I bet it will look amazing.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sewing, laundry can wait...hey isn't it time to teach the kids to do the laundry...more sewing time for MOM :0)
I've caught the fever too and when my husband is out of town next week I'm hoping to get my entire quilt top done in a few days. Mine is mostly a mismash of scraps but I LOVE your color scheme! Its going to be stunning when it done, can't wait to see it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other ladies, laundry can wait!!
Love the scrappy blocks!
ReplyDelete120 fabrics? Goodness. I can't wait to see the finished quilt top: the block looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteFolding fabric is definitely more fun than folding laundry.
ReplyDeleteWow...amazing! What I wonder, though, is if you could share the knitted hat pattern? That looks gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI do not knit, but THAT makes me want to!
ReplyDeleteLucy~
I've just had ago at the trip around the world block for a baby quilt for my sister. I used bright colours as I don't know if she is having a boy or girl and I'm really pleased with it.
ReplyDeleteLoving your fabrics
Xx
Oh, I love it so nice and bright. Don't worry about the laundry, it can always wait another day. It is important to get your priorities straight!
