SO...I finished my boy's huge pillow cover. It's 36" square. The cover fits per-fect-ly! I talked about the quilting in this post. It is finished with a zipper closure. Is it scary that I just happened to have a super long one in my zipper stash to finish it off? I think it might be a little telling of the amount of supplies that I squirrel away. Oy. But...it did save me a bunch of running around to try to find one. So there IS that...
My son really likes his pillow. We all do, actually. It's ginormous, ridiculous and fun! The grey and orange are so his colors. (It's unusual that his outfit doesn't match his pillow. I'm telling you.) So there it is. A happy finish.
(My goodness, does he look like a pre-teen or what??? When did that happen?)

i want to make these pillows for my kids for christmas. i've made pillows before, but i always buy pillow forms to put inside. can you take a guess on how much of that batting went inside? i'm going to have to buy it because i don't have it lying around. (sadly)

That's a great pillow! I love your son's paracord bracelet, too. My son used to make them to sell at school craft shows.
Great finish! I love the colors and quilting on this pillow. My husband still really loves his floor pillow, btw, for which you made the pillow form.
I've been working on bedding for a set of doll furniture for my stepsister's daughter, but I don't have pictures of my progress. So far, I've finished the mattress, bedskirt, pillows and pillowcases. Next up, sheets and a quilt. Fun to be sewing!

I used a lot of batting to fill the pillow. No idea of the yardage. You might be better off using poly fiber fill?

For those who don´t want to make the pillow form- I bought one floor cushion from Ikea with this dimension two years ago. I don´t remember the price-only that it was cheaper than that much poly batting. Maybe Ikea still carries those forms.

Eek, he IS getting too big! That pillow is fabulous with all its orangey-ness. In the close-up, do you have a clue what the orange fabric is below the grey text? It's so cool! And I keep meaning to tell you that I am totally in love with Connecting Threads new line--the one with the raindrops. SO cool. Although maybe it's because I'm craving rain SO much!

Awesome! Noticing how the lines are all perfectly straight (even the rows of dots, and words!) What did you use for a pillow-form, or stuffing? I'm having a hard time finding large pillow forms. Just remembered maybe you made your own... will go check. ;)

My kiddo would be green with envy over that pillow. He loves his bean bag to pieces and that would be even better.
When you stuffed it, did you wad up the batting or make a princess and the pea pile and the wedge layers into the pillow form? Does that makes sense?

I bought two huge pillows at Marshalls (26" square) on sale as soon as I saw this post, and today's the day I'll finally start the project. Had a question about the zipper-- do you piece it in between the two squares, or along one edge of a long rectangle? does the 3/4" it takes get added into the total pillow measurement or added on top? Hope that makes sense, thanks for your help.
