Happy May Day! As I eluded to earlier, my May is going to be CraZy! So, why not add to the craziness with a small projects sew along? I don't know about you, but I have a bunch of little projects I'd like to complete. Since May is going to be so busy, small projects might be all that I get accomplished. I thought it would be fun to host a (low key) sew along so we can work through our projects together.
Here's how it would work.
1. Compile your list of small projects you would like to complete.
2. Write it down in a blog post.
3. Throughout the month, work on your projects, as time allows.
4. As you complete a project, blog about it, cross it off your list and do a little cheer. :)
5. Share your photos in the quilting with crazy mom flickr group. Make sure to link to the source of your pattern/tutorial/inspiration if you used one.
(I'm in list making mode, can you tell?)
===========
Here's my project list:
1. Patchwork lanyard
2. Vintage sheet skirt with lining
3. Dress!
4. Zippered box bag
5. Tiny trash cans
6. 9 patch pin cushions
7. Van trash cans x 2
8. Guitar strap
9. Granny square pillow cover
10. Thread catchers (with tiles)
11. Color coded storage boxes for stash
12. Patchwork belt
13. Another flirt skirt
14. Drawstring backpack
15. Kitchen curtains
16. Ticker tape on canvas
17. Kitchen chair pads
18. Dress for my daughter
19. Table topper for TV console table
20. Mini quilt for front entry table
I think that's it for now. :) They are listed in no particular order. Now, I'm not delusional or anything. I know I won't get them all done, but if I accomplish even a portion of them, I'll be pretty excited!
So, anyone want to join me?
(would someone want to volunteer to make a button for this? I'd appreciate any help!)
I think finally I have a sew-along I can manage!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm in. Does that require commitment? :) I'll have to ponder the list and write up a post.
ReplyDeleteThat's a BIG list of little things! I'm almost afraid to put my list in one place for fear of how big it will actually be.... but I'm in!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to join in. Let me know if no one volunteers to make a button, and I'll be happy to do it!
ReplyDeleteI don't know--you might be delusional :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLet me go see if I have any small projects begging to be finished (or started).
Brilliant idea. I can only manage small projects right now, so this is perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteYou are crazy.
ReplyDeleteOh, wait. We all know that.
Oh wait. Even you know that.
But I find your list and your challenge intriguing. I'll grab a pen and draft a list even though I think I'm going to discover that I'm crazy too.
Your list makes me happy. For once, it is longer than mine. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are crazy! :) I love your blog. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWow what a list! I'll have to make one eventually =D
ReplyDeleteSince there is no number assigned to do to participate I can join. I have a really busy month ahead of me but I know I can fit in several little projects, no where near as many as are on your list. Sounds like fun, thanks for organizing it.
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo in! I have 11 small items to have done by June 14 for our Guild challenge! Wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI have 1 done, 1 almost done.
take care, Leslie
I'm in. My list is not as long as yours and contains some non sewing projects but there are at least 4 of 5 sewing ones on there :)
ReplyDeleteLeigh Anne
Hi Amanda Jean. I know you're super busy but I would love to see a tutorial on patchwork lanyards and guitar straps. ;-) Theresa
ReplyDeleteWow, Your list is so LONG!!!I think it's a great idea. I'm in. I'm new to the blog world and I just found your blog a few weeks ago. I just read your very first post; you know back on November 2, 2006!!! Amazing all you've accomplished! -April @ Little Mama Hen

You seriously ARE crazy! That's not a little list. And you don't have time for all that stuff! I'm thinking we should all be looking for a 12-step program for you!
ReplyDeleteI can join, too. My list may include a quilt block or two, if okay. Fun times ahead!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! I think I can do this SAL. I have several projects close to being done, so instead of your Finish it up Friday this will be Finish it up May! Now I need to make a list.

ReplyDeleteI would love to join this project Ammanda Jean, can't wait to see you at Riverside Quilting in River FallslLater in the Month for the Book Signing and Classes. Sorry I couldn't make it to the Retreat but am looking forward to the next one. Diane S.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea. I'm in.
ReplyDeleteI made a list! It's short, but I'd still be amazed if I get it all done.
ReplyDeleteIf I can find the time to make a list, I might be in. I think I am traveling at least 15 days this month. Argh. Going to be hard to concentrate and sew. May just need to play. Don't know if I can handle the stress of pushing myself!
ReplyDeleteWell I compiled my list and it is up on my blog. It will be fun to see how far I get. DS www.dianeswett.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteGreat idea and great way to get things done, by making a list, especially a list of smaller projects that are doable. I think I have a few of the same things on my list, like kitchen chair pads and a flirty skirt.
ReplyDeleteI love making lists too, and have a list of large and small projects I'd love to finish. I won't be able to do any sewing until my semester is over, so I'm hoping for some sewing time this summer.
I'm in! Perfect timing too :)
ReplyDeleteHere is my blog post link ...

What a perfect sew along during our crazy baseball season. I am making my list now :) Wish I knew how to make a button for you but my tech skills are very minimal.
ReplyDeleteSmiles~ Beth
Perfect timing for a small project sew along. I will be making pillow covers for screened porch. They are so faded and this is the motivation I need to get them done before summer company starts arriving.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing your finished projects.
Thanks for the kick to get this done. Connie
I'm in... small projects are good! Maybe I can finish those!
ReplyDeleteI'm in.. but my list is shorter than yours. :D
ReplyDeleteI am a list maker, too...so this was perfect for me!

Sounds like a great idea...count me in. My list will be short and I'll be happy if I get one thing done a week:)
ReplyDeleteI am in! This is going to help me get some gifts done.
ReplyDeleteI missed a few days and tbh I'm happy if I can finish a project I just started today this month. But I'll try to compile my list and blog about it tomorrow. Great idea btw and your list is HUGE. :)
ReplyDeleteI am in! I just started blogging, and kind of missed out on the linking party (didn't know how to join). This time I'll join! I thought of and blogged about a list and I am looking forward to this! I actually finished an item before the list.... Who knows; maybe I'll even pick up a nice pace finishing my good intensions...:) Not sure I've got Flickr figured out yet, but we'll see about that later!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Ilse
