The day after I got home from retreat I was chopping rhubarb on my aqua (or is it turquoise?) cutting board and I realized that it was the exact color palette of my fabric pull. Exact. This delighted me to no end and I was immediately sold on the color palette. I am going to call the quilt chopped rhubarb. Isn't that a GREAT name for a quilt? I have to get around to working on it before I lose my excitement for the project. That's happened to me one too many times. I feel like I need to work faster!
Since we are on the subject of rhubarb, you should check out Cheryl's rhubarb iced tea recipe. YUM! My son has been asking for more. It is delicious! And as far as the rest of this photo is concerned, this is the spark of a new color scheme that came to me as a result of playing with scraps. Seeing this snapshot makes me realize just how thankful I am that I get to work with so much lovely fabric...even if I can't work fast enough. :)
I love the color scheme and cannot wait to see what you come up with! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your chopped rhubarb collection! Inspires me to take a stalk of rhubarb into my own workroom, then on to the fabric store.

ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Inspiration comes from the coolest stuff. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI am so ridiculously jealous of that stack! It's going to be gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteRhubarb for a name ah yes!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool epiphany! This fabric stack reminds me of the stack you gave to me, which I added a bold dark print from the Habitat collection, similar to that garden party polka dots. I have the fabric all cut up and ready to piece together. Can't wait to work on that project! and to see what you do with your stack.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely delightful! You never cease to amaze me with your creativity. No doubt that whatever you do with this lovely stack will be fabulous! Smiles~Beth
ReplyDeleteChopped rhubarb is a PERFECT name! That's one of those little miracles like the ones that happen to me every day. Serendipity!
ReplyDeleteWith that strawberry print in there, I'd call it strawberry-rhubarb pie. Mmmm. I think I just figured out what to make for the bbq this weekend.
ReplyDeleteOn my computer I would say that is turquoise. You cheeky thing!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME name! Great colors! Can't wait to see more! Yeah, I could use a little "faster" in my world too.
ReplyDeleteYes, PERFECT name and perfect colors and I am making it. haven't a clue what the pattern will be, but it can't be anything BUT fabulous with a name like that and a designer like you. Never know when or where inspiration will strike!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Amanda Jean inspiration...I've been making a slab
ReplyDeleteSeeing the cutting board and fabric bits just put a big smile my face. Now I have to tackle the housework in front of me. I'd rather stare at your photos.
ReplyDeleteLove that you drink out of a mason jar too!
ReplyDeleteI so miss Finish It Up Fridays. I would race home from work to sit with my glass of sparkling water and look at every post. Such inspiration and fun! Love the rhubarb quilt,,makes me think of my dad who loves rhubarb pie!
ReplyDeleteChopped rhubarb? Briliant!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name for a quilt! By the way, what did the actual chopped rhubarb turn into? Cobbler? I LOVE rhubarb anything!
ReplyDeletePlaying with scraps = a little bit of heaven on earth.
The 3rd fabric from the left on the top row... Do you know what that is? I love it! I might have to look for it.
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics AND the name. It's great when things come together like that. I'm getting ideas faster than I can sew them this week too. CraZy.
ReplyDeleteI always say rhubarb is my favorite color :) hopefully mine that I planted this spring will survive our more than 100 degree weekend. :) Love your picks!
ReplyDeleteChopped rhubarb? yummy colors - I love the Name. can't wait to meet you finally at your book signing in River falls tomorrow...It will make up for not being able to come to the retreat early May! ReplyDeleteYeah, NONE of us can work fast enough. Well, I can't at least. Can't wait to see your chopped rhubarb quilt.
ReplyDeleteI love those fabrics together! They're much more "me" than most bloggers pull. :) I can't wait to see what you make of it! Also - I've been meaning to leave you a note - my bee friend Angela Went on your quilting retreat and you must have done magic because her samples look so fabulous! Thanks for sharing the beauty in quilting with all of us!
ReplyDeleteI like that title! I can't wait to see what you make with it.
ReplyDeleteLove the color combo!...and I certainly love rhubarb. The word "chopped" feels a little hurtful to me, but that's me. Depending upon the pattern you use it might work to say Chunky or Pie or some other food...nothing personal. <3 Sarah
ReplyDeleteLove the fabrics, love the colours and love the name 'chopped rhubarb'! Maggie xx
