affirmation

This is a fabric pull from my stash that I was working on a couple of weeks ago. I wasn't completely sure about the color scheme, so I took the stack along with me to retreat where we discussed it. Melinda added in the garden party dot on the lower left. Unexpected, but a really good punch. I was liking it more, but still not completely sure.

The day after I got home from retreat I was chopping rhubarb on my aqua (or is it turquoise?) cutting board  and I realized that it was the exact color palette of my fabric pull. Exact. This delighted me to no end and I was immediately sold on the color palette. I am going to call the quilt chopped rhubarb. Isn't that a GREAT name for a quilt? I have to get around to working on it before I lose my excitement for the project. That's happened to me one too many times. I feel like I need to work faster!
Since we are on the subject of rhubarb, you should check out Cheryl's rhubarb iced tea recipe. YUM! My son has been asking for more. It is delicious! And as far as the rest of this photo is concerned, this is the spark of a new color scheme that came to me as a result of playing with scraps. Seeing this snapshot makes me realize just how thankful I am that I get to work with so much lovely fabric...even if I can't work fast enough. :)

  15. What a cool epiphany! This fabric stack reminds me of the stack you gave to me, which I added a bold dark print from the Habitat collection, similar to that garden party polka dots. I have the fabric all cut up and ready to piece together. Can't wait to work on that project! and to see what you do with your stack.

  35. Love the color combo!...and I certainly love rhubarb. The word "chopped" feels a little hurtful to me, but that's me. Depending upon the pattern you use it might work to say Chunky or Pie or some other food...nothing personal. <3 Sarah
