Welcome to finish it up Friday! I've decided that this will be the last week of the finish linky party, at least for awhile. I may start back up in the fall? I guess we will see then. I'd like to thank each and every one of you who have joined me in finishing. It's definitely been a great motivator for me and I hope that it has for you, too! I'm going to be switching gears just a bit here on the blog. I'm looking forward to the busy months ahead (that will start in May, for me...yikes), and trying to work around that. I think it's going to be good!
For this last installment of finish it up Friday, I'd like to show you my quilt top that I'm calling Sixteen Tons. A bit odd for a quilt name, but hey, it's got 16 patch blocks and coal colored setting blocks...so it actually fits. The quilt top measures 46" x 57". I was SO close to using the sprout green as a background...I even had it ironed, but at the last minute I switched to coal gray. (Honestly, I'm kind of hoarding that sprout green!) In the end, I'm very happy with my choice. I'm excited to quilt this one...it's going to keep getting better and better.
How about you? Do you have a finish to share? Please share your links below. Thanks again for joining my linky party over the past several months! It's been a lot of fun!
A very happy Friday to you!

I'll have to re-arrange my life now, it seems to have become the culminating event of the week this past month or so. It's been fun to get the exposure and attention. ReplyDeleteHey Amanda!

I am sad to see finish it up Friday go -- I always look forward to it every week.
Thanks!
I will miss this, but with my son's graduation coming soon, things will soon be crazy around here too!
ReplyDeleteLove the color, I was thinking the sprout green, but this is beautiful! I think your choice was perfect!
I would never have thought of using that color for the background. It is stellar. That is what blogging is all about isn't it. Being exposed to new and different ideas outside of our comfort zone. Thanks for having helped with that.
ReplyDeleteI think the coal gray looks really good! Your Friday Finish posts helped me stay motivated, but certainly if you feel it's time to move onto other things, that's just fine :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteI have Fridays off work and 'Finish It Up Fridays" has always been such a treat--to sit back with a cup of tea and look thru all the wonderful work that's out there. You and yours have a great summer and I hope you restart this in the Fall :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt name!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting all of these week! I can totally relate to the kids-getting-out-of-school-crazy-summer-routine thing! My blog posts pretty much disappear in the summer, as I'm in the same boat as you!! Bring on the garden, sunscreen, and camping gear!!
ReplyDeleteAs I knew it would, it looks awesome! Great choices! I like it on point with this gray. I can see why you're hoarding the green. I probably would too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great name for your quilt!! I just love naming things. I always thought that would be a fun job. You know--stuff like paint, lipstick, nail polish. But I digress. Your quilt is beautiful and I think you made a good decision in choosing the coal. Although I'm super intrigued to find out what you have planted for the sprout!
ReplyDeleteNo finishes this week, but thanks, AmandaJean, for the opportunity to share my work, it has been alot of fun.
ReplyDeleteSixteen tons is beautiful!!! I'll miss your Fridays. They have been a great motivator for me! Can't wait to see what you're up to next!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the linky parties - they are so full of inspiration and I love taking part - they keep me motivated throughout the week! I look forward to the 'party' coming back in the fall (pleeeease). I love your latest quilt too :)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time freed up from hosting. Looking forward to what you have to show us in the coming months.
ReplyDeleteWohoo Amanda, I managed to get back just in time for your last finish week. I've been gone for a while due to health reasons and only just got back to the machine this week. I'm so glad I managed to get a finish to link up with your last linky party.
ReplyDeleteI have really enjoyed this idea all along since I found it and its been a joy going around on blogs seeing how creative people are and how productive as well.
I thank you for hosting this and I can totally understand that a break might be good now when summer is around the corner for some of us.
I do hope that you will start it up again in the fall then. Because when the sky is grey outside and the chill will be there it will be so nice to get more focused at the sewing machine again.
Hopefully I'll get some done over the summer too.
Have a great weekend and thanks again for hosting this. <3

Yippee for Sixteen Tons and a new song reference. Did you find that based on a movie? :-) I can't believe that you have been doing finish Fridays for 25 weeks! I enjoyed the series and thank you for leading it.

ReplyDeleteNo finish for me, but I had to tell you something. The quilt shop where I work just got your book. I am so in love with it. Honestly!!! My friend and I were going to put our names on the copies we got before they even hit the sales floor. I think I will be good and ask the boss to order me one cause everyone else should get to see it too. Oh yeah...better buy 2, my DD loved it too. :)
