On a whim yesterday, and because I desperately needed a finish, I quilted my one log cabin block and turned it into a throw pillow. I really like it!
It would have been cute as a baby quilt, but since I gave my strings away to a friend, it made sense to stop and turn it into a pillow cover.
I finished it with an envelope backing. So easy! I used this great (and old) Amy Butler print that I had been hoarding for years. It felt good to finally use it!
I'm happy to report that all the pillows on my couch are covered. I'm loving the patchy goodness!
And dreaming of making more....of course!
How about you? Do you have a finish to share today? If so, please link up to a specific blog post so we can cheer you on!
Happy Friday to you!
I RECEIVED YOUR BOOK IN THE MAIL YESTERDAY! Oh how i love it. So many projects that i want to try. Love the slab idea. The possibilities are endless with those things. And the fabric boxes. I love the "tone" of your book. It is like i was in you studio and you were sharing your love for quilting on a personal level. Practical advice for the newbie and expert alike. Hats of to you and Cheryl. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute pillow. I am always so inspired by your "whims"!
ReplyDeleteI love your pillow! I saw your tutorial for the scrappy triangles (left pillow in the bottom photo) and my paper triangles arrived in the mail yesterday. I love seeing your finished products, even though they tend to grow my "sewing to-do list" every time I visit your blog :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration and the link-up!
Thanks for hosting a FABULOUS Linky Party.... I ordered your book and look forward to it's arrival!
ReplyDeleteLove your log cabin pillow!! I need to get something started. Not to finish it. I have a couple of quilt tops ready to quilt, but the weather is too warm to work with a quilt until autumn. I need to get a quilt started to piece though. I found one of crazy mom's patterns that I saved on my Evernote and forgotten about. I think I will make it. Don't remember the name or if it had a name.
ReplyDeleteLove your pillow, wonderfully scrappy, and all the colors look together so great.
ReplyDeleteAnother great pillow. They all look cute on your sofa.
ReplyDeleteYour wonky log cabin is amazing! My two W-L-C's are quite dark so I'm now inspired to collect lighter, prettier fabrics!! Thanks for hosting Finish it up Friday!!
ReplyDeleteOoooh... another gorgeous pillow. I'm just drooling over the collection of handmade loveliness on your couch. Looks cozy, homey and inviting.
ReplyDeleteI also love those pillows. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteI`m so very much in love with your pillows. The fabric choises are so "happy-go-lucky"!
ReplyDeleteLove your pillows very cheerful, kinda just makes me smile! Thanks again for the link up, fun to see what others are doing :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome pillow! Love the scraps you put together. I really want to make more pillows, which might be a good summer project. And a good way to use my scrap stash - yay for that!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited to share a reversible tablecloth I made from Loulouthi fabrics for our kitchen. Love it so much!
Very cute pillow! They all look great together! I always enjoy checking out all the links on Friday - thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteLove the strip cushion cover! I tried to link but not sure I did it right. It is 58. It says my name instead of the post title. What should I do??? Sorry it is the first time I try it!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see your gorgeous pillows on your brown couch. My couch is the same color and something has been holding me back from making bright pillows for it. Not anymore!
ReplyDeleteLove this log cabin pillow. I'll have leftover strings from my string quilt and methinks they will become a log cabin throw pillow now.
Oh, I love your pillows!!!! I have pillow envy now :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE your pillow! So bright and fresh! :)
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love those pillows!!! need to make some for my house now :o)
ReplyDeleteLOVE, LOVE your pillows! the colors make me happy! I am actually picking out my fabric in my craft room to sew new pillow covers!

Very pretty! They make a home feel more cozy.
ReplyDeleteMy couch needs some colorful pillows like that. Might just have to make some this weekend
ReplyDeleteYour newest pillow is my favorite of the three pictured.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to see your newest pillow right with the others. It looks like it was meant to be there together. Yay!
ReplyDeleteadorable pillows!
ReplyDeletei finished two this week for my girls birthday
ReplyDeleteOMG love your pillows to bits, really those bright colors are so cheery.
ReplyDeleteI've got to sew cell phone covers for my kids Tracfone LG800G smart phones to protect their touch screens. Must say $6/month for 40 minutes of talking for each kid is a bargain.
If you don't mind I'd really like to borrow your ideas from your cushions as no kid can resist bright colors.
Love those pillows!!! Your taste in color and fabric is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOoh, and your book came in the mail this week and I'm excited to try out your techniques. Love that you two worked together on this and that by some miracle I follow both of you.
Thank you for sharing your talents.
So cute! I can see why you adore it! It's adorable!

ReplyDeleteGeez Louise! I've got to stop trying to comment via my phone. It never works. It said it did, but now I see that it hasn't. Rats. Maybe I'm not even entered in the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I LOVE this pillow. I look at the photo all the time (Yeah, I'm a little weird!) and pinned it on my pinterest board for all to see. Well done, Amanda Jean!
I read the 'I'm loving the patchy goodness' as 'I'm a patchy goddess.' I think you are both. :)
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say that I do a mix of lap size and baby size. Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWow,It look so beautiful and colorful pillow cover. It look really extra ordinary art and creations.
