Welcome to week 3 of finish it up Friday! I've heard from several of you that this challenge is really motivating you to finish up your projects. Hurray! Thanks to all of you who have joined in. It makes finishing much more fun! I'm really enjoying the challenge, although it does seem like Friday rolls around faster than ever before. Ha!
This week I was able to finish knitting a pair of socks that I had been working on since February. I'm so excited to see these complete. I'm a very sporatic knitter, and I had one of the socks knit for months. The other one was started, but I stalled out for awhile. I turned the heel on the second sock last Saturday, and sped through the last part of the foot in record time. I closed the toe last night...thanks to this challenge! I always get a little bit giddy to see how slick the kitchener stitch finishes things up. (Look at me throwing around knitting lingo like I know what I'm doing!) It's getting COLD here, so hurray for a timely finish!
How about you? Do you have a finish from the past week? If so, feel free to link up and share your accomplishment! Please remember to link to a specific post. Thank you! And happy Friday!
I have to agree with your Amanda Jean, that your challenge has been a real boost for me. I too have been trying to finish up ufo's and wips. Thanks for the incentive.
ReplyDeleteI love hand knit socks!!! I just finished one for hubby and apparently lost my kitchener mojo. I'll have to rip back the toe and fix it :) Your socks look great. I love the color!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your socks!
ReplyDeleteI agree, Friday is here much sooner than ever before but I'm also able to finish up old UFOs :D
ReplyDeleteCute socks, I love to make them too.
I cannot believe you knitted socks. I can crochet like a mad woman, but knitting always amazes me. And socks...???!!! AWESOME!
ReplyDelete"Finish it Up Friday" is great! Especially because the next day turns into "Start Something New Saturday" and the cycle continues!
ReplyDeleteYour socks look great! I bet they're super soft and warm, too... :o)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get back behind my sewing machine! I had a baby last week, though, so he's keeping me busy. :)
ReplyDeleteYour socks look great! Knitting socks is something I could never figure out.
I don't see how Friday coming faster can be a bad thing. I finally figured out what I'm going to do for my retreat squares. Now I just need to cut them and get them basted!
ReplyDeleteI love these Finish It Up Fridays :) AND I especially love those socks!
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the new Finish It Up Fridays...thanks for hosting! I also LOVE your socks...I really want to learn to knit or crochet. Smiles~Beth
ReplyDeleteOhhh, those socks looks so comfy and warm! Great Friday finish. Thanks again for the weekly motivation!
ReplyDeleteNow that I'm moving to a cold climate, I'm going to have to learn to knit socks. I'm actually very excited to do so. Yours look great!
ReplyDeleteNice job -- love the color. I crochet but have never learned to knit -- maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteDon't have a Friday finish -- spent several days last week with my grandkids in Omaha and did no sewing. Maybe next week -- still have a quilt top I'd really like to finish.
Great socks! I'm not participating in this finish it up friday (although I really should), but it's fun to see what others get done! Talking about getting done, I just undid my DD's sock for the third time...I have a week to finish them off, so come what may, no more undoing!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute socks! I'm knitting too. But no finishes to show. :(
ReplyDeleteLove your socks. I started knitting socks last year and finally have enough to wear a knitted pair everyday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting. It's great to have some finishes to check off my list.
Love your socks! And thanks for the linky party - it's always a spur to finish something!!
ReplyDeleteYay for your new socks! They look fantastic. :) Thanks for hosting this linky!
ReplyDeleteYay you! I dream od knitting one day, but you have socks to prove you can!! I LOVE them!
ReplyDeleteGreat socks. And a great linky party to create incentive to get things finished.
ReplyDeleteI love these red socks! They look warm!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for the finish-it-up Friday, Amanda, is such a good idea and really fun! My problem is I usually start something new every three or four days! But now I am more motivated to finish one or two little things faster!
Besos desde Madrid,
Elena
I admire anyone who can knit socks - i have only done scarves, hats, and blankets. socks kind of freak me out, but yours are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI also love the 'finish-it up friday'. It gave me the motivation this week to finish some projects that needed to be done ASAP... :)
I didn't finish anything, but I started a new pair of socks this afternoon. I learned toe-up in order to avoid kitchener! Hand knit socks just feel good!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the challenge to "Finish it up Friday"....here's my finish for this week http://cjs-sewingroom.blogspot.com/2011/10/finish-it-up-friday-diaper-bag.html
ReplyDeleteNice color for your socks:) I need to start something so I can join the finish it up thing.
ReplyDeleteI love the whole concept - thanks so much! And great job on the socks!
ReplyDeleteI feel you cheering me on. I'm almost done with my finish and when I've felt like abandoning it, I've called on the Collective Mojo of your readers. Once I'm done, I get the reward of browsing the other finishes. Yippee!
ReplyDeleteYour socks are fantastic. I am glad you warded off the case of SSS (second sock syndrome).
LOVE hand knit socks! They are the best! I am working on a pair for J right now. I think I might be next in line for another pair. LOL
ReplyDeleteThis friday I'm home from work and ready to sit down with a glass of wine and hand work on my quilt for the boyfriend. I hope by next friday I can finish it - then on to the Christmas present for my daughter. I was going to be a house warming present but NOT! I love the socks. That's something I want to learn next.
ReplyDeleteWow, those socks look professional. And pretty.
ReplyDeletethanks for having the linky party...it was so fun to look around and see what everyone else has made this week
ReplyDeleteThose look fantastic and warm! Wish I could knit, but then again I do live in the desert. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link-up! It's been great for me too! LOVE the socks! i actually just bought a "sock loom" and some yarn the other day. Maybe soon I'll have a home made pair of socks of my own ;-).
ReplyDeleteMmmm....lovely socks!
ReplyDeleteI have a project that I've been working for nearly two years that I will try to finish by next week. Though not sure if I can blog about it as it is a gift for my sister and I don't want her to know it's done yet. ;)
OMG! You can knit socks? I am completely awe struck! Just by the knitting of socks mind you, not even by the fact that you finished them! Great work!
ReplyDeleteWhat pattern did you use for your socks? They are too cute! I just learned to knit and am finishing up a Harry Potter house scarf.
ReplyDeleteGreat socks and soooo practical!!! I wish I could knit - its on my 'one day' list to jump on youtube and teach myself!! Keep up the inspirational work! Happy Stitching, Susie
ReplyDeleteway to go on finishing your socks! did i know that you also knit? i feel like that is news to me. it is good to know that you are still a woman of mystery :)
ReplyDeleteYour socks look wonderful! I just started my first pair ever & from the toe up. I've never even tried a hand knit pair on, so I'm hoping I love them. What yarn & pattern did you use? Do you have a favorite sock knitting yarn?
ReplyDeleteLOVE the socks! Wish I could knit just so I could make socks. I can crochet but no knitting.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad I missed Finish it up Friday. I did have some finsihes but sadly, my dial up connection was not adequate for posting about them. Maybe next week!
I knit my first pair of socks after reading your very first post about your own sock knitting adventure. I can't find cute patterns like yours though. Do you have a book or website you use? I love this Friday Finish idea. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your socks Amanda, all that knitting and then you step all over them...lol I love knitting too!! Friday came way to fast for me last week, I'll see you this week though. Hope your having a great week.
ReplyDeleteI have just found your blog and love it! I have looked all over it trying to find a place to leave a comment that might not get lost among the others...but, well, you are a poplular gal! :) so, i will leave my ??? here and hope you find them. I am new to quilting and wondering if there was a cheaper route to buying material than joanne's fabrics, or hancock fabrics or...etc. quilting seems expensive to me, but i still love it and want to find a cheaper way. any suggestions? thanks...niki
ReplyDeleteNiki,
ReplyDeleteI start builing the fabrics over a period of time, and I think the results are better for my patience. I use the weekly 40%off coupons that Joanne's have in the Sunday paper and that helps quite a bit.
I love the red socks! knitting is a good diversion from sewing and quilting. I am not up to the level of socks yet. Yours look like they are made by a pro.
ReplyDeletePlease come back soon!
ReplyDeletecan't comment on your most recent post. Will miss your posts and pictures ... hope to see you back here soon!
ReplyDeletei sure love your blog amandajean! come back to us soon! ;)

ReplyDeleteThanks to your finish up friday I actually got a WIP done last week! Thanks for the push :) And as far as taking a break goes, you deserve it! Enjoy it, spend time with your family, relax, and when your ready we will be here to see all your great works again :)
ReplyDeleteOh BooHoo...again,

I am a new follower of your blog and have really enjoyed it so far. Lucky for me, I can go back and read old posts (new to me) during your break! Your quilting blog is the best one I've found so far - I love the color and design choices you make, and your explanations are so clear!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the time off you need and come back soon!
Will you please apply to teach at next year's Sewing Summit? You are at the top of my list for people i'd love to learn from or see a trunk show from. :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for this wonderful incentive! I hope you are getting the much deserved rest you need, and I look forward to when you are back on the blog! You are missed!!! Meanwhile, I will do my best to stay faithful to the mission of finishing what I once started!
ReplyDeleteWe'll be here waiting for you
ReplyDeleteWishing you well
Happy Sewing
