On the flip side, did you see that Connecting Threads is having a thread sale? 30% off their single spool cotton Essential threads, which means the individual spools are only $1.74! I had to do a bit of restocking in my personal thread stash. And while I was there, I may have ordered some solids (some of those are on sale, too). Ok, now I'm just being a bad influence...

What wonderful colors you chose! I have a yo-yo maker, but I havn't used it yet. I'm not quite sure of what to do for a finished project. I'll look forward to seeing your finished product.

ReplyDeleteI just got my catalog from them yesterday...and saw the thread sale and was wondering...have other's tried it? Is it good quality? I have liked everything I have gotten from Connecting Threads...but dang, that is such a GREAT price, I was afraid to stock up unless I knew it wasn't one of those cheepy threads that breaks every two minutes of sewing.

ReplyDeleteI've finished my yo-yos and finally found a use for the material that I'm not going to use for the strips- cut them to make a lay-out of how I want to place them. Also, my quilt isn't going to look much like the one on the cover- only the center panel is going to be yo-yos with wide borders to add lots of quilting.flaus
ReplyDeleteOh I just love yo-yo's!!! Several years ago before I knew anything about a yo-yo maker I made 2 yo-yo quilts/coverlets. One for my mom with 2500 yo-yo's and one for my odest son with 2000 yo-yo's. Now I am slowly working on another one for my youngest son, which will have 2000 in it too, can' make a difference in the boys! LOL!

I have also been making YoYo's. I started at the begining of the summer. Wanted something productive to do while waiting for my kids during their activities. I had tried doing many hand projects in the past while waiting, but the applique always seems to complicated to do in the car or at a Starbucks table. The YoYo's are the most portible project I have found. I made a sewing tool box and I take it with me wherever I go! I have made a good 250 so far. I love them!

ReplyDeleteI was looking at their thread the other day and I find it hard to believe/understand that the regular spools of 1200 yards really fit a regular sewing machine, no extension or cone holder needed? I guess I just need to try it!

ReplyDeleteI am curious on the quality of the thread as well. I currently use the mettler metrosene plus 100% polyester thread that my bernina dealer recomended for use with my machine. Do you know how it compares to that? I would be upset to if it would rip & shred. That is such a great price & such pretty colors! Thanks for your help! Karen P. acp328@yahoo.com
