fancy block Friday #5

This week for fancy block Friday, I broke away from paper piecing and did some improv piecing. This funky lady was inspired by this one on flickr. I LOVE HER! The fabric combo reminds me of Cath Kidston. (YAY!) I want to make 100 more. :) I just might.

Terri and Cindy stayed the night last night and we are headed to Gruber's for a little quilt retreat this weekend. We will be meeting up with several other fabulous bloggers to sew like crazy for a few days. I'm so excited at the thought of sewing to the din of something besides bickering children for a change! (Ha!)

Happy Friday!

  5. Hahaha...cute, cute! I'm doing a one-on-one swap with an online bud from Australia and we are doing this same block only it's two of them holding hands...and they have hair!;)

A whole quilt of people with a few houses, trees and pets thrown in would be awesome!;)
ps...I have that new book you are in....I need an autograph!;)

  7. This is adorable. There is a whole quilt of these little dolls and houses in Material Obsessions. The quilt is more like a recipe than a pattern. I bet you will mix a whole batch with great success.

    Enjoy your quilting time away.

  8. She is cute, but definitely a block head... a real square, which in my day was a bad thing... don't know what it is now.

  24. You could use a block like this if you were making a quilt for someone and wanted each block to represent a person. Of course, you would have to do a different kind of block for guys.
