Here's my latest finish. More lime and eggplant. I love this color combo! Most of the dots are from Pat Bravo's Oval Elements collection. They are so lovely to work with and so soft. I added a few fabrics from the stash to fill in. The white is Kona cotton.
I so rarely make baby quilts, but I should do it more often. They are so fun to finish up. The quilting is a breeze, because they are so small. But the selfish part of me doesn't like to make baby quilts because I know I will never get to use them. It's silly, I know.
I pieced the back because the fabric I had was just a touch too small. Looking at this photo, I kind of wish I would have added in some white on the back for some contrast. Oh, well.
My daughter was my quilt holder. She was complaining about her tired arms after just a few photos, so I had to settle for a crooked one. ;)

More wavy grid quilting and more lime green binding to finish it off. I'm very pleased with how this quilt ended up.
The quilt measures 35" x 47". There is a tutorial is here. If you make one, I'd love to see it!
So pretty - great color combination.
ReplyDeleteThis turned out great. Thanks for the tutorial, too.

ReplyDeleteA new take on a zig zag quilt, I like it! Lime and eggplant, nice combination for a baby also.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving "eggplant" right now and I'm thinking about decorating my new sewing room with that color! Love this quilt very cute and colorful!

Wow! Just wow! Very inspirational! I think I will play with your tutorial to make a larger sized quilt.
ReplyDeleteLove how you quilted this one and I also love the color combo.
ReplyDeleteoff to look at the tutorial.
Oh, and I love the gingham quilt in the prior post as well. I would of never thought to use a big gingham like that and use those squares as a template to quilt with.
Love the wavy quilting...
ReplyDeleteI love it! The colors are great at a distance and really pretty up close too. And the quilting is cool - thanks for sharing your wonderful work and being an inspiration. :) (That means I'm doing wavy line quilting on my next quilt!)
ReplyDeleteLove that color combo!
ReplyDeleteLove to see you working in what I consider a "neutral palate" - lime and fuchsia.
ReplyDeleteI love this quilt! I love the color combination and the wavy quilting! :)

It's gorgeous!! I may just have to make a quilt in these colors too! Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteIt was so fun to see this one move from the WIP to FO pile. I totally agree that baby quilts are great because they provide that sense of satisfaction when I need a finish under my belt. I pieced almost four complete baby quilt tops on Thursday and felt on top of the world productive.
ReplyDeleteAhhh!! Amanda Jean, I love this quilt! It is so perfect! I was going to ask if there was a tutorial, so imagine how excited I was to see it at the end of your post! Lovely as always.
ReplyDeleteGreat finish!
ReplyDeleteLove that wavy quilting! I'll have to try that, oh wait I think mine looks like that sometimes when I'm trying to quilt straight! I guess I'll just go with the flow and be wavy! hehe. Love the colors too,
ReplyDeleteyour purple and green look lovely together. maybe someday i'll get over my prejudice against purple. until then, i'll admire other quilter's works.
ReplyDeleteI love the color combo of this one, too, which is unexpected for me.
ReplyDeleteIt was a treat to see your design wall a few posts back - I can't imagine being able to do what you do without an area like that. It's nice to get a glimpse into your workspace.
Great quilt! That color combo is lovely and unexpected!
ReplyDeleteYour color combo is straight out of my garden and I blogged about it yesterday...

What a small world. I love that combo. Turned into a great quilt!
I love the wavy quilting!
ReplyDeleteAm liking the color combo! Want a project that's even faster than a baby quilt...try a miniature...LOVE 'EM!
ReplyDeleteHappy quilting!!
It's beautiful CrazyMom -- as always. Lovin' that Lime Green!
ReplyDeleteOh Wow! I love this quilt :)

I love this one! The quilting is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI am really loving your eggplant and lime combo as well. Very nice spring colors!
ReplyDeleteSuch a fun pattern, and I love the pieced backing. Gonna have to try this one with scraps, thanks!
ReplyDeleteEvery time I hear movin' on up I think of the theme song from the Jeffersons. The quilt looks like a great one for spring with all the bright colors.
ReplyDeleteAmandaJean, This is divine! Wow! so refreshing! Thank you for sharing the recipe! What a gifted woman you are!
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this color combo, but now I think I might!
ReplyDeleteYour ideas are so inspiring to me...so very often! My Movin'on up quilt top is made out of precious (to me!) scraps and without any colour scheme (obviously!).
ReplyDeleteI just love the way the top gives a frame to all my beloved fabrics...
Thank you so much for this idea and have a look, if you want to...

Thanks for the inspiration! I saw your quilt on pinterest. I made a baby quilt using your picture as a guide. I didn't realize until just now after reading your tutorial that the colored squares are not quite "square". I made mine square, but like your idea!! I posted a picture on my blog and linked to your blog as well :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again!

I love how this quilt turned out! I was inspired to make a similar one, but I used charm squares instead and doubled the blocks. This is only my fourth quilt top--I'm still gathering the courage to try quilting them at home! Your blog is so inspiring!
