I haven't understood all the dresden plate hype....until today.
It was my intention to make a dresden plate pin cushion. I made my own template for the pedals and jumped right in. My dresden ended up about 7.5" across. It's waaaay too big for a pin cushion, but will make a great pillow instead. It's definitely not the worst thing to happen. You can bet that I will be trying again!

It's beautiful. Good job AmandaJean!
Aren't they just fantastic? I caught the Dresden Bug a few months ago... Have fun!
I'm loving dresdens too lately. They're next on mu "to do" list. Your's is beautiful!
I'm not sure why I've never seen anything like this. BUT, the bug has been caught..
Looks like lots of work.
Wow! 28 petals? What template did you use?
I've not played with Dresden Plate but you are mightily tempting me.
I love your creation.
Hugs,
Gerry
Oooohhhhh, it's beautiful!!! Love it. This will make a cheery pillow. Is that linen for the background? I haven't gotten into the Dresden Plate hype yet either, but I'm sure it's just a matter of time ;-)
It will be a beautiful pillow!
You know... that would make a very pretty "flower" applique...
If y'all keep up with these Dresdens, I'm gonna have to try making one... *lol*
Sa-weeter than sweet!
Just yesterday I posted a link to my girlfriend's tutorial on Dresdens (AFTER making a few myself!)
Be careful, they're addicting!
Haha. Whoops! Before you know it you'll be making a bed-sized dresden quilt. :P
Ya know, there's a dresden QAL going on at http://lilysquilts.blogspot.com/.
It's not too late to join...
Looks pretty! Would love to see how you went about it?!
What a beautiful pillow you will have!
Beautiful!
Kimberly- Thanks for the tutorial info! I will be trying this for sure. Just bought the rotary template from Amazon! I can't wait to get started!
Finally.
I've figured out why this blog is called Crazy Mom.
It's not 'cause you're crazy.
It's 'cause you're driving ME crazy with all of your super cute projects.
I can't take it anymore!!!
Very pretty.
Nice! I have made this too.
Greetings from Sweeden
Para alfiletero no sirve pero de cojín estará precioso.
Lovely! I like the pink and blue combination.
I adore this!
Now you're hooked! Love your plate, very bright and happy.
I say there's nothing wrong with a giant pincushion - lovely
So cute! I love all the colors - especially the polka dot center. I really want to give the dresden a try too!
Love it and think a pillow would be fabulous!
Oh how adorable! :o)
I made my very first dresden this week and will blog about it on Friday. :o)
Have a great day.
Sincerely, Trish
Love your new dresden plate! Such sweet colors and prints in there. This will make a fabulous pillow. I have always loved the old fashioned charm of dresden plates but never knew how to make them. Last year I made one into a color wheel mini quilt which hangs on my wall - love it. Hope you end up making more!
That is very beautiful. Hmmm... maybe I should... wait. My to-do-list is so long that I can't find the end to add this to it! After I move the 5 piles of to-do off my table, I might be able to add this. Optimism is great!
Dresden Plate must be the pattern this month. I just saw a beautiful pillow with the dresden plate on it a few minutes ago. I think a dresden plate is in my future.
terrifyingly addictive, aren't they?
The Dresden Plate is one that has been on my list of *must-do's* for years and I WILL make one, eventually.
i think i'm in love. so very pretty. that's my next goal is to learn how to do these. :)
Escribo desde Colombia, su blog que es maravilloso gracias por los tutorials.
Un abrazo,
sayda
So pretty! I love how scrappy it is :)
Almost picked up a dresden plate template yesterday. Going to put it on my soonish list once I tackle my stash cupboard.
I find dresdens to be quite addicting. Be careful.
I feel the love! I'm a Dresden Gal, my all time favourite block.
Really cute! I need to try one of those someday... Thanks so much for sharing.
Oh, this is so cheery...I haven't done dresdens yet, but I do love looking at them.
