scrapbusting

Laura J started the scrapbusters challenge 2011 group and if ever I needed a flickr group, this is the one!

Even though there are 101 other things I need to be doing today, I played.

I sewed a bunch of strings together and cut them down to 12.5" x 4.5".
They multiply rather quickly.
This is one possibility for a layout....inspired by the Band Together quilt (scroll down) by Fun Quilts.
I'll definitely need to make some more blocks before I decide for sure. :)

Happy Monday to you!

I love fun quilts (and this will surely be one of those) and I also love Fun Quilts. Redundant. You know what I mean, right? and I also need that flickr group, but I need to spend time doing, not just looking. :)

Oh, I really, REALLY like this one for a scrap buster quilt! There are SO MANY possibilities! Can't wait to see what you decide on.

I think that would look great with a black background! All of those colors would really pop!

This sounds like fun! I can think of a stack of fabrics in my stash that I would like to cut up and try this with. i really like the layout in the second photo with all the rows of coins lined up right next to each other. So fun to look at, like an I-spy quilt.

Lookin' good Amanda! Maybe I'll start next week...or not! Leaving for Florida!

So colourful and pretty!! The hardest part I find about quilting is committing to a design that I want to use to use up my fabrics or scraps.

Looks great! Why don't my scraps look so nice? Oh yes, I remember, because I toss them in a laundry basket and forget them. I need to join this group too!

very pretty. I might have to check out the group. :)

Somehow, I don't have scraps like that. Maybe I need to sew more...yes, that's it. I need to sew more, and buy extra so that I have scraps!

Looks great!

I am setting my craft girls this challenge as well. Can you tell me how big each piece is I know it is 4.5" wide are they all the same size piece or have you just made it up to the 12.5"

Thanks for sharing!

You're very naughty -- shouldn't you be baking or wrapping or some other Christmas-y activity LOL???

Ooooh, thanks for sharing that Flickr group, I definitely need some inspiration using up my scraps - my husband keeps complaining about how many there are and why on earth I'm keeping them :)

That is a fabulous idea! You never disappoint!

sometimes giving in is just the right way to get busy with what i "should" be doing.

I just started a stacked coins quilt with my scraps thanks to Jodi from Pleasant Home's scraps-along. I'm with you, though. I don't really have time for that sort of thing. It would be nice to cut back the scrap pile, though. Yours looks great!

This looks like a fun quilt to make. I'll be checking in regularly to see in what direction you're taking it.

Hello! I hope you'll see this comment - couldn't seem to comment on more recent posts.
Anyway, I linked to your checkbook cover tutorial from '08 and saw the post about your Dad's slogans. How fun is that? I shared with my daughter and she wanted to know what his slogan is for 2011. We thought "Life is heaven in 2011". Not great but we just got started . . . Hope you'll share. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I really enjoy the scrap quilts. This reminds me I need to put more work into mine. Just a quick question. Where is a good place to get some precut Kona squares? I need some white ones.

I did some scrap busting this weekend and dumped a ton on my guild buddies. Also finally basted a quilt sandwich for a ticker tape quilt...we'll see how long it sits before I get to it.

and darn you...I bought that suitcase I saw you had but was delighted to roll my supplies into the Guild meeting.

As some other ladies have mentioned I cannot get over how amazing your scraps look and mine look like .... well crappy scraps! What beautiful work.
