First off, thanks for all your comments on the pre-wash post. There are more of us in the pre-wash camp than I realized....I had no idea! It was so interesting to read all the comments, so thanks for weighing in.
My husband noticed (and commented) that I have been on a fabric buying binge lately. Oops! To his credit, he also noticed (and commented) that I had been doing very well. Yay, hubby! He's a good, good man.
I had to buy some bliss, and I wasn't going to hesitate. (I missed out on the Authentic craze, and I kind of regret it.) I have the PERFECT quilt idea for this charm pack. The design idea has been in my head for over 3 years. I'm soooooooo excited for it! But now I'm wondering why on earth I didn't buy the aqua dots as well? That should have been a no-brainer. These were purchased from Fresh Squeezed fabrics. I'd highly recommend ordering from Randi.
This bolt of aqua is going with the bliss. I'm trying out a new solid fabric (from Hancock Fabrics) by trying out an entire bolt. Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? Ha!
More solids...because Hancock's had a screaming deal on them. 53% off! Thanks to Doris for on the heads up on that one. Hancock is such a nice diversion from JoAnn's. I could write an entire blog post about this, but I'll spare you. :)
These remaining fabrics were bought at Quilt Home. It was my first time ordering with them, and I couldn't have been more impressed! They were on sale (most were), they have free shipping on orders over $50 (very important to me) and they even included a hand-written thank you note on my slip. I'm very, very impressed! Oh, they were quick, too. I had these lovelies in a few days.
I was thrilled to find some of this gorgeous fabric. It's from 2 fabric lines ago, and I thought it was LONG gone. When I found it-and on sale, no less-I snatched it up. It's going to make a lovely, lovely quilt back.
I naturally gravitate to green and pink. Always.
And some lovely henna garden. (more grey, yay!)
Here's to pretty, pretty fabric! And lots of it!
Please don't leave your favorite fabric shopping spots in the comments.
I don't need any more help in that area.
At all.
Oooooohh.... loving those red dots. I may have to go grab a few yards. They're so lovely, right up there with my favorite and now-hard-to-find Full Moon dots.
ReplyDeleteAnd that aqua? TO DIE FOR. Gorgeous color. Even if it makes me laugh that you got an entire bolt.
I have actually been quite restrained on the fabric-buying front lately. Of course, I haven't been sewing nearly as much, either. But those dots, man... I can never resist good dots...
I always try to use up the fabirc I have, old shirts, old sheets etc, hard for me to spend dough on fabric, somehow I feel bad about it.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I had to wipe the drool off my keyboard after viewing all that dreamy fabric goodness. LOL
ReplyDeleteFat free bingeing... and the problem is...?
ReplyDeleteI just bought the Bliss charm pack! I'm so curious to see what you're doing because I have no idea, I just loved it too much to say no and I never treat myself like that.
ReplyDeletei was on a self-imposed fabric diet this spring too. i had been doing very very well...only buying something i ran out of mid-project or because i absolutely didn't have something that would work already. i went about 3-4 months without buying, despite my hubby and friend taking me shopping constantly.
ReplyDeletethen the new dr. seuss fabric was on pre-order and that ended it all. i'm buying again. i have a saved cart at one place and just ordered at another. bad me. very bad me.
love your purchases though!
I might need to get some of the bliss dot yardage.
ReplyDeleteI've been collecting various colors of the henna garden print, I hope they come out with more!
I've just been getting fabric from etsy sellers who'll cut me the FQs I need lately...
I have been going to go to Hancocks to see what they carry for thread and batting... I haven't been there for so long, not since before I started quilting.
ReplyDeleteOooh! I have a bliss charm pack and have been debating on what to do with it so I can't wait to see what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteFabulous fabrics. That aqua is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteLove and hugs Gina xxx
I had so much fun browsing your fabric purchases. Love the aqua! My favorite color! Can't wait to see what you make!
ReplyDeleteAck! I just ordered from Randi during her birthday discount and completely forgot the much-needed (?!!) bliss dots.
ReplyDeleteThe one you like for a quilt back is the one we've made lots of toddler dresses out of. It's very popular and looks great on little girls.
ReplyDeleteWOW! What lovely fabric. I can't wait to see what you create from it. =)
ReplyDeleteOh, you have been a bad (good) girl! I actually have to buy some Bliss, and I'm also determined not to miss out on MoMo's It's a Hoot. We'll see, though. Thanks for sharing so we can drool. They are all just lovely.
ReplyDeleteLots of new fabric. I think I am going to be looking for greys, reds, and blacks for my M. and L. since they have a new bedroom scheme. (kind of International tractor looking)
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute!! I almost got my fabric fix looking at all your lovelies. Lucky you - some great pieces.
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful fabric...I do LOVE the Grey/Gray. I just purchased some last week.
ReplyDeletePretty please, will you share some of that grey fabric?
ReplyDeleteI love all your fabric. I can't wait to see what you do with the Bliss, because I really want to buy some too.
ReplyDeleteOh, so pretty! And your hubby, yes, what a good man.
ReplyDeleteMade me think of mine, who had a rare comment of his own this past summer when he wondered aloud, "how I could still manage to buy fabric when I wasn't sewing."
I looked and told him it was to make up for not sewing! LOL
Beautiful new fabric, my biggest stacks in my stash are pink, green, and white background fabrics. Just can't beat those colors for the happy factor.
ReplyDeleteGood girl! I just treated myself too and my B-day isn't until next month--hehehehe! I will have to check into that Hancock sale though! Maybe it's in GA too?!
ReplyDeleteYay for fun new fabric!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about missing out on a favorite fabric. I totally missed out on the Ava Rose that I drooled over for so long. :(
Groovin' on those greys! Inspiration!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the fabrics!!! Thanks for sharing, almost feels like I brought some home myself.... :)

I just wanted to agree that Fresh Squeezed Fabrics is awesome! My only problem is that I want to buy everything she sells. I just went for a quick peek the other day and sure enough I'll be having my order arrive any minute now.
ReplyDeleteI love all the fabrics you posted. Is the solid aqua a Kona and if so, what's the name of the color, if you don't mind telling? I'm making an aqua, black, and white quilt in assorted prints and the solid aqua would be a great addition.
ReplyDeleteI have serious fabric envy! I want...I want!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with them, you have the best ideas!!
ReplyDeleteOh! I love, love, love seeing what fabric others are buying!! I am coveting that Bliss fabric. I'm holding out a few weeks until our ultrasound to find out if baby is a boy or a girl. If we're having a girl, I'm totally buying the bliss to make a quilt for her!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see what you do with all your fabric!
You have been shopping at a few of my favorite places. I love the bliss and can't wait to see what your plans are with those charming charms! The aqua is lovely too...I'm thinking you should go back and get some of the aqua dots!
ReplyDeleteI love a good fabric binge. Beautiful colors and patterns. This just made my night.
ReplyDeleteI shop from the same places, so I won't taunt you with more shops! I love ordering from Randi, and Quilt Home has such a great selection, especially older collections. I adore all the purchases you made lately! It will be so fun to finally get that idea out of your head - can't wait to see what it is.
ReplyDeleteI learned on my first trip to Hancocks that they take "that other shop's" (JoAnn's) coupons. Haven't tried it yet, but was happy that the salesgirl told me!

ReplyDeleteI love those colors--especially the reds and white in the first image.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful selection of fabrics! Such fun!!!
ReplyDeleteI just ordered a Bliss charm pack, too! I am in need of finding the PERFECT fabric with pink and red for my daughter's room when she transitions to a big girl bed.........
ReplyDeleteSO had to have bliss, too and went with the charm pack, kinda wishing I did the layer cake...might have to have more. LOVE the aqua to go with, fantastic match!!
ReplyDeleteI love that top grey fabric you found...can you tell me the name of it? I'd sure like to find some!
ReplyDeleteLooks like fun at your house!
ReplyDeleteThose fabric designs are perfect! I like the colors and patterns. I would like to decorate it in my living room. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGolly, an impressive binge! I must buy some Bliss, I have to, I keep adding it to baskets and then not buying it, no more, I'm buying it today! And grey, I'm with you there, I love love LOVE grey, which is odd, I'm such a colourful person, maybe because it just goes with everything...Happy sewing that little (or not so little) lot up!
ReplyDeleteOK-- Now I want to go shopping! Fab finds!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, I can't wait to see your bliss quilt! I have a plan for my bliss that involves lots of aqua too -- just can't seem to get enough time to do anything about it!!!
ReplyDeleteI just received my own bundles of Bliss from Randi at FreshSqueezed - I'm excited to turn it all into a baby quilt for a friend who is expecting a little girl in January. I was wondering if Bliss was the right fabric choice, but as soon as I saw the charm and dots on your blog, I didn't doubt any longer!
ReplyDeleteI justed caved and bought Bliss too. And I held out for so long and then in a moment of weakness, I hit "confirm order" - LOL! It is absolutely beautiful though and I'm not one bit sorry I bought it!!
ReplyDeleteForgot to say, love the rest of the fabrics too! What is the brand of the solids you bought from Hancocks??
ReplyDeleteI'm very excited to have found your blog! My first quilt is still just an idea, so it's great to see your beautiful quilts and read all the useful tutorials and tips. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I'm proud of you. (I heard that JoAnn is carrying less and less of fabric.?)0 I don't get in there very often 'cause it's not on my beaten path.) p.s. I wish I were coming to your quilt retreat next month.)
ReplyDeletethat Cheryl and her grey/gray!
ReplyDeletei'm not sold on it yet...own none!
I'm going to fabric shop vicariously through you from now on. You have great taste, and it doesn't cost me anything! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm in the prewash camp for sure. I like the feel. I recently had to move clothing out of my closet to make room for fabric.
ReplyDeleteMy addictions could be worse my husband says.
You and me both! I have been binging on fabric lately too. I found some really beautiful fabric by Allison Jane Smith (peacocks) Love it. Then Bliss, of course, that's a no brainer, right? Then I found Hawthorne Threads, OUCH! I'm loving the gray lately too.
ReplyDeleteI love QuiltHome too! And I got some of the same fabric that you did when I recently ordered. So pretty.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the aqua. There is an aqua-based 30's fabric that I am obsessed with and CONSTANTLY daydream about going to my quilt shop and buying the bolt, since it's an older fabric that isn't online anywhere. Your aqua fabric is pushing me to the edge... ;)
