48" x 60"
My dear friend Erin's little girl is 11 months old. This was going to be her baby quilt...ahem...but given her age, I decided to make it a little larger so it will last her awhile. Works out, as it seems I am incapable of making small quilts.
The quilt is a far cry from what I envisioned in my head, but I think I like it. I was planning on having the red and aqua more checkerboard-ish, but it ended up random, so I'm going with it. It's probably better this way...less predictible.
--------------
Here are the measurements of the blocks, if you would care to make this quilt yourself. Heather made a larger version of this quilt, too. You can see it here.
Each block should measure 12.5" unfinished for a 12" finished square.
Alternate the blocks when laying out the quilt. Easy enough, right?
It requires a total of 1.5 yards of fabric.
All the fabric for this quilt came from my stash and scraps. I think I used about 18 different prints.
If you make a quilt like this, I'd love to see it. :)

There's definitely something about that red & aqua ... other than the fact that it's all I've been buying lately. Maybe I just found my red and aqua quilt to make ... Looks awesome.
I like the randomness of it. :)
this is SUPER cute.
i am SO in live with that red polka dot!!!
♥
I think it's beautiful! Love the design and the colours. Well done.
I like it a lot and you know that Erin and Elia will love it! I think this pattern could be really cute done with all scraps, too. Something I need to do more of..... :)
It will be a treasure for her.
Very nice,
Oh it's beautiful... and will see her through her own first daughter!
I think it is fantastic and thanks for the tut!
I love the red/aqua combo, it's super cute and girly, without being the typical pink girl thing, yk? something she can grow up with.
Thanks for the block tutorial, I'll definately give this one a try!
I like that, it must have gone together fast!
It's lovely and I like giving and getting pressies late, as it extends the occasion. It is beautiful. I think I will try it.
Love the cherry fabric. I keep seeing it when I go in JoAnn's, but haven't snagged any up yet.
Thanks so much for the measurements - I am definitely going to make this quilt!!
Beautiful...lucky little girl!

So cute! I have a friend having a baby in a few weeks--once we find out what it is, I'm definitely going to make this one for her/him! (Secretly hoping it's a girl, just so I can copy with the red/aqua. :)
I just made a random quilt for a little girl. I love yours it's wonderful as are all your quilts Amanda.
What a beautiful quilt. Your work is certainly inspiring. Thanks for sharing your talent!

This is great! I love simple graphic designs.
I love this quilt. Nice and random feeling.
Amandajean...this is an adorable quilt! Thanks for the measurements!
She will love this. It will probably be her favorite. Thanks for the tutorial.
This has got to be the easiest tutorial I have ever seen and it's just my style. Why can't all tutorials be like this? :)
I'm going to have to get me some aqua and red fabric. Everyone is making things with that color combo and I really like it.
love the colors and the simple design..good job on the directions!
Great quilt and tutorial, too, thanks!
Hugs - Lurline♥
Love the quilt. Especially loving the color scheme (and the cherries!). Let's not forget the cherries!
Love it!
I have to add it to the list of quilts I need to try.
Dear Crazy Mom, I love your quilt here! Awesome! I might use the pattern for one of my own. It's great in its seeming randomness. Good work!
I can just see a little girl dragging this around everywhere.
Almost every lap quilt I make ends up big enough for a twin bed. It's a condition. And to think I want to give mini quilt Mondays a chance!
The randomness of it is quite appealing.
Very cute CrazyMom! I love the red and aqua combinations. A very lucky little girl!
Very cute and the colors are fantastic! I, too, tend to go bigger.
The red & aqua really go together well! Nice little girl quilt.
I am currently making blocks like this, although a tad bit smaller. It has been such fun digging out stash to use for this one! Will post when I get them together.
Karen
That quilt is great...I think it would be a great stash-buster quilt as well! I might have to dig and find some fabrics to use and try this one out!
i've never been keen on baby quilts their just so small and i can never find the right colours because i like bright and funky and you cant really use that for a baby lol. Im liking this quilt top alot coz if looks funky :D
Love your color choices! Thanks for sharing the directions for making the blocks. I might have to try this one myself.
I love it...what a perfect baby quilt...or for that matter, the pattern is perfect for any size quilt!
I love it!!! Simple, yet totally beautiful. I just may do this one for a baby quilt I need to get out quickly. I'll be sure and show you if I follow through!
so cute, Amanda! They are both going to treasure it!
Love your quilts - and your blog!

how do you get your squares to be so crisp and correct once they are put together. by the time i get mine all sewn they look all wonky. i know i am measuring correctly because i have been remeasuring after i cut and i have a 1/4 foot in use on my sewing machine so it has to be something i am doing but i don't know what. any tips for a year old quilter?????
Cute little quilt and easy enough to make a smaller doll quilt too. Thank you for sharing.
super cute and seems simple enough that even i could tackle it!
Very cute! I was just asked to make a quilt for my friend's son and I might try this!

Cute top! And it's a great size :) Thanks for sharing your det's!
Thank you! Your blog has inspired me to learn how to machine quilt, and I just completed an ocean waves quilt. I've posted photos on my blog. Your tutorials are great!
Lori
Your post inspired me so much that I'm finally (yes, finally) starting my first quilt. I've been sewing for a few years, so I'm doing this pattern out of scraps, just to practice. Thanks for your inspiration!
very sweet. I started an afgan for my nephew before he was born and he got it when he graduated from high school!! I'm not much of a crochet person!! ha ha
I'm so in love with your quilt and tutorial! You do it again! Super wowness, super cuteness and super Iwanttodropeverythingtodoitnowness!
Thanks for the dimensions for the blocks....I think this will be my next quilt! Your quilt is adorable!
Very cute! I am always a fan of red and aqua!
I should have done something like this for the my Quilts along the Trail project. It would look better than it does.
This is going to be my next baby quilt!
Swooning and drooling here. (That's hard to do at the same time, you know!) ;o)
You know I go weak at the knees for your quilts and then when you use my favourite colours together... sweet torture. LOL
Love this latest beauty, Amandajean.
there's that red/aqua again. i love it more every time!
hi amanda jean

Corrie:)
What a great little quilt!
cute quilt! I love that little red polka dot fabric
Almost everything I make is a far cry from what I first envision, so I like knowing that a skilled lady life you experiences that every now and then. It's nice, though, when the "far cry" turns out as sweet as this.
I love the red and aqua! And isn't still acceptable to give it as a baby gift if the baby is under a year? Kindof like the ediquette for wedding gifts?? hehe Beautiful! Jenn
So Sweet! Thank you for sharing the measurements, it's a great help to us newbies :)
