the beginnings of a bento box quilt

I finally started my bento box quilt and I'm having color doubts...

I'm not sure if I love the brown in the mix. Is the brown is too dark? Does it jump out too much?

Here it is without any brown. Does it lack a certain zing that the brown brings to the mix?

Since it will be going on my bed, maybe the brown fabric will be the key to tie everything together once it's done and on the bed?

What do you think?

Yup, this is a value issue, not a colour issue. I think I would add in some lighter browns and darker greens and blues. Right now the brown is the only dark and that's why it sticks out.

Add another vote for keeping the brown. It adds a certain pop, the blue/green combo w/o the brown is bland, it screams baby blanket to me. With the brown, it adds a sophistication, a contemporary and modern look. I like it!

I may be to late for this, but I love the brown in the quilt. It does make it pop. I might have to make one of these. Hehe. Great job.

I know everyone's voting to keep the brown and I'll be outvoted but I much prefer it without the brown. You could use a lovely brown for the binding and backing and you'd still have that punch of colour?

The brown is a must! I love the contrast it brings.

I agree the brown jumps out too much, and it is too bland without it. How about another color to replace the brown -- maybe a hot pink or bright orange?
