Do you ever have trouble matching up fabrics for something scrappy or just go w/the chaos of a lot of different prints/colors? I *tried* to make a scrappy square the other day and used what I had on hand, but don't care much for it - wish I had a better eye for these things! Yours looks great and the inspiration quilts looked good as well - I think I just need to build up my stash more to have more choices!
It's going to be great. I have a nine patch WIP also, but more of a country color quilt. I also wanted to let you know that I am almost finished with a Flea Market Fancy quilt top. I used aqua and brown. I'll let you know when I finish and will post a pic on my blog. I love the simplicity of it!
i've found that for scrap quilts it helps to edit your color scheme. any aqua and red prints will go in here, as long as they aren't large scale prints. i had some yellow and green 9 patches that i made, but they looked horrid with these, so i edited them out already. adding the white sashing should tie these remaining blocks together nicely. i hope that helps!!
I love the color combination but frankly don't remember seeing alot of aqua fabrics but it looks great. I can't wait to see the final results. To think I'm still working on the quilt a block from 2007 or so, you are a quilting machine!
So, Amandajean, you said you were going to take it easy in the New Year. You know, sore back, sore fingers and your compulsion to quilt quilt quilt. I see you are taking your own advice. Other than loving the blocks, I just don't know what to say....
They look lovely! I'm sure it will be really pretty when you are finished with it. I hope you are taking some time to let your arms rest, though. I'm itching to start something new. Something like this one might be good for my scraps, too.
Loving your blog, always something new to see and so much helpful information. I understand why you'd need to give your arms a rest! What I was wondering is how you feel about giving stuff away. Do you know when you start that it's for charity or a friend, or do you just start something and figure out afterwards what to do? I ask because I find it hard to give away something that I've spent so long on.
i am the same way....some quilts are hard to give away. for some, i start with a recipient in mind. for some i finish and then i decide to give them away-it all depends. i also find it hard to use my best fabrics if i know i'm going to give it away....but i'm getting better at that. :)
The nine-patch you have linked to is one of my Flickr-favs :) And I think it will be absolutely stunning in your colorscheme...and probably very different from the multi-colored version :)
It's going to be so pretty when it's done! Can't wait to see it finished!
